Id like to start out by recalling my most impressionable experience with this shop. I was about a quarter of the way into a medium ride one evening, when my chain broke crossing Hillcrest nearby, stranding me. This was on a bike that I did not purchase at this shop, and they know that. I walked up as one of the employees, Dallas I believe, was locking the door to go with the Thursday group ride the shop organizes. He rushed my bike in, expertly fixed the chain, and made a derailleur adjustment while he was at it. No charge, wouldnt take a tip. Im not sure he even cleaned his hands. Then he invited me to ride with them that night, as I didnt have great lighting and it would be dark before I finished due to the delay. Customer. Service. Ive been coming here for all my cycling needs for a few years now, and I have never been disappointed. Ive looked at purchasing a bike here, and have never gotten the hard sell on anything, just info, test rides, and a business card...minimal pressure. That goes a long way in my book. You will probably save a buck or two buying online, but being able to see it in person, hold it, and in some cases try it out is worth it when you plan on taking a bike any distance from home (think seats!). Its true, most the guys that work here do some serious riding, but I think that translates into selling products and services they can stand behind. The $150 bike that doesnt fit right, is uncomfortable or painful to ride, and isnt reliable will not be enjoyable, will not be ridden, and isnt sold here. I hope reviewers arent mistaking this for elitism

--- UPDATE: I am amending my review due to the manager going above and beyond to both fix the problem and make sure that it does not happen again. My bike was more than repaired, and steps were taken to improve their work quality (due to an unrelated event, the tech who worked on my bike previously no longer works there). D.A. went the extra mile to make sure that I was taken care of, so my hats off to his level of customer service. I now feel comfortable once again to bring my bike in to this shop. Great job! ---- ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought a $2600 mountain bike from here about a year ago and brought it in to have the wheels trued up. Great turnaround time, but the quality of work was terrible. It was $40 to have both wheels laterally trued. They wouldnt touch the radial alignment (bump in the wheel), but were willing to charge the full amount to say that both wheels were good to go. Theyre not. Both wheels still have lateral movement, even after paying to have that fixed. The tech said that it is impossible to fix the wheel and that I would have to get another. I get the feeling it was outside his comfort zone so he pretended to do the repair and charged me anyway. He ended up backing out $20 in charges but I cant say Im happy with the work. Usually this place is great, but there are some issues with quality control for the bike techs. I would expect better service from a place where I bought the bike

After I moved to Dallas from SF Bay Area, I found this to be the only good bike place within 10 miles UTSW. My bike got messed up by the moving company with all sorts of parts lost or damaged so I had to get everything repaired. The store is nice, clean, organized, and lively unlike the Wheels in Motion further along Lovers Ln. Although you can tell the store is always busy servicing customers, Ive never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes to them to start the work and the people do a really quick, honest, and careful job without overcharging. Coming from Cal, changing a tube alone would be 10 bucks without the tube but here I had gotten a cleanup, chain lube, tube change, and 2 new tubes for $15. Ive found the staff to be both polite and friendly and eager to help. They spend a good half hour just assisting me to find the best set of wheels to fit within my student budget and put in the extra effort to look for other options from online retailers as well as local custom parts shops. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking to purchase a high end bike, needs reliable, guaranteed servicing or repair on their existing bike, or anybody with questions in general about cycling and Dallas trails whether its road or mountain.

We were looking for a mountain bike for my wife and thought about a full suspension. The moment we walked in a very friendly female sales person greeted us. This made things a lot better for my wife as she felt that a female sales person would understand her needs a lot better. We told her about our intent and she advised us to a significantly cheaper hard tail to start-out. From the first moment my wife pedaled the bike she loved the feel of it. I had brought my 5 year old (never ridden) bike with me and brought that in for service. After thorough inspection the service staff advised that it does not need a full service just some cleaning and greasing. Not only did we experience TOP NOTH service, but also did we spend significantly less money than planned due to the recommendations of the shop. I know we will make this our bike shop of choice from now on!

I have mixed feelings about this place. My bike got stolen so I had to go there twice. The first time I went the customer service was great! The associate took me outside, properly fitted my bike and created a great transaction. The second time I went...totally different story. The customer service rep was uninterested in my questions and did nothing to help me fit my bike. I was even considering an upgrade, which wouldve been a perfect opportunity for an up-sell. Nope. Nothing. There is a very elitist attitude by some of the associates for people wanting to buy a "cheap hybrid." Think of the steak snob we all know that gets angry if you enjoy A1 or anything above medium rare. Thats these guys with bikes. Well Im in the market for a mountain bike right now. Guess where I wont be going?

Went in with intention of buying a bike, uneducated. Sales staff were knowledgeable, sized me correctly and quickly, asked what type of biking I was going to do, and selected a good quality entry level bike for my purposes. Never upsold me, was very clear and detailed on answering questions, let me test drive the model, explained the basic/routine maintenance I would need to do after the initial break in period. They had all the accessories I needed, and the salesman was fairly frank on what was good quality vs. what was name brand inflation. My only downmark would be the location is a bit obscure to get to the first time, I drove past it 2-3 times because it was down a side street.

I had always shopped at Richardson Bikemart and Plano Cycling & Fitness before and had an OK experience. I never left Bikemart feeling like a got a deal. I typically felt insulted of my knowledge and was typically brushed off by the sales people. I could ask the same question to three different people and get three different answers. Not so at Bicycles Plus. I was always treated with respect and like I wasnt an idiot at BP. I got a smokin deal on a last year model CR1 and a great fit from Craig. They gave me some nice tips and said if I needed anything fine tuned, just come back in! Free maintenance for life as well. BP is good peoples and have my business from now on.
