ive been going to rbm in richardson since early spring of 2009. i bought my first full carbon rode bike from them and the service was excellent. the bike i bought in 09 kept giving me issues with the screw snapping in the seat mast cap over 7 times in the 2 1/2 years of ownership. jim hoyte (owner) himself had the frame warranted out a week before thanksgiving and was super stoked because the new frame was a total departure from the old frame in design and thought my problems where over BUT IT WASNT! I noticed the the new seat cap mast had cracks forming in the carbon only after a week and 6 days of ownership and about 200 miles on it. i took it back to rbm right away and asked to speak to a manger. the sells and service staff where very friendly as usual. the manger michael tinbusch came out and i told him my problem about the bike. i explained to him that i no longer felt safe riding the bike and lost all faith in the brand itself. i asked for a refund since it was an upgrade from a lower series to a higher one. i knew i would be bikeless for a few months but i rather be healthy and not injured. he tells me he is going to see what he can do. he leaves and comes back with jim hoyte and we talk about the issues.I ask again for a refund and the two of them give me an option i didnt think was possible! THEY TOLD ME I CAN SWAP FOR ANY FRAME IN THE STORE!!! I would think that that would be a hail mary option but jim and micheal where so cool about it and made it seem normal! i am very very VERY happy with the new frame i was given . i came in on friday dec 9th and they had my bike ready the next day ready for me to drop the hammer on. the only thing i was charged on was the difference in the bottom bracket and that was only 35 bucks. no charge on the labor or the yokozuna cables they put on for me and for those who dont know that stuff aint cheap! also my new frame came with a carbon seat post and with the issues i was having with the old bike i asked if it was possible to swap a carbon for an aluminium seat post. jim and michael said i can have seat post i want and of course at no charge. at no given time when i walked in that friday i never felt like i was a "bad customer" i was treated with kindness and respect. the service tech kevin was all over the bike wanting to help me out and was getting ready a new seat mast cap before i spoke to michael and jim. i really cant give enough praise about the guys up at rbm and jim hoyte himself. i work part time at a bike shop myself and when i first got into the bike industry a year and a half ago the customer service at rbm is what i model myself after and continue to do so. those guys are really really good up there and when there is something i cant get i go straight to them for there excellent service and selection!......high tech bikes, old fashion service!

Overall, the staff is pretty nice and the service is convenient enough (theres never been too much of a wait for me for a simple flat tire), but the prices are never going to be what you would call a bargain. I was searching for a ~$300 bike just to get me around campus and so that it would suffice for a few mountain biking weekends. I ended up buying a Trek 3700 for $389 and with a coupon the salesman decided to give me, it rounded out to $401 including tax! So I was happy about that coupon essentially saving me the tax. The salesman was pretty lax and affable, so that was a good experience. I believe his name was Quentin, so if youre at the Richardson Bike Mart, ask for him! He was great. Anyways, I put the bike in the back of my truck and drove it home to the UT Dallas campus. I was excited to ride it so I took it for little cruise around campus. I was happy about how it felt and the quality of the bike, was havin fun cruisin around, and then after about 8 minutes of riding: pinch flat. Completely flat tire. Taken down on its maiden voyage like it was the Titanic. So the following day I told my sob story to the mechanic on duty at the time and he began to fix it. When he was done, he asked me if I had the coupon that you get with purchase of a bike at the Bike Mart for a free flat repair. I said "Yeah, Ill go get it." But then he stopped me and said "No man, Ill do it for you this time. It sucks havin it go flat the first time youre on it. So dont worry about it." And from then on, Ive looked at the Richardson Bike Mart favorably! I think many businesses dont realize that its the small favors like this that will get customers returning to their stores. Before, I had no loyalty to this store over the next one, but now because of that small favor, Ill make an effort to get what I need from the Richardson Bike Mart before I go elsewhere. Well done, well done.

Took my high end wheel to get rebuild since I thought RBM is a big shop and they probably know what they are doing "WRONG" When I dropped off the wheel the first day I asked for specify spokes for the wheel to be rebuild so the day comes that my wheel is ready and they had build the wheel with the wrong spokes so I asked the mechanic for an explanation, he tried to give some BS story about them placing an order for the spokes I requested base on messaurments from my old spokes and when the they tried to build the wheel the spokes were to short blaming me for having the wrong size spokes on the wheel, I told them that those were the original spokes from Enve and that it was hard to believe Enve will build their wheels with the wrong size spokes from factory so I asked again why didnt you order the right size spokes when you noticed that they were the wrong size instead of building the wheel with something I didnt ask for "specially when I was still getting charge for expensive spokes" long story short I asked to speak to management and the guy told me management will contact me about my issue the next day since he had just left for the day when he said he spoke to the management 5 minutes before he gave the BS story about me having the wrong spokes from factory. I have been waiting for a week and called a few times to contact management and no one ever got back with me about why the wheel was not build to my specifications in the end I had to take the wheel to be rebuild again to another shop because there were so many spokes still lose and the wheel was not true. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache, take your bike to another shop

Buy Here but Do Not Service Here This bike store is great if youre a Specialized (among many other brands) fan. Lots of selection in stock and they can always order for you if youre looking for a very specialized (no pun intended) bike. However, fast forward a couple of years and your bike needs servicing, do not take it back here. The service technicians (if you can call them that) will tack on items you may or may not need and NEVER tell/call you about them before they actually do the work. Just imagine taking your car in for an alignment and you return only to get a bill for an an alignment, an oil change, new tires, new shocks... and noone EVER called you to let you know of the addtional items and their respective costs. Not only that but the parts used arent even Specialized. Theyre some off-the-shelf no-brand parts from who knows where. If I take my Mercedes in to the dealership for service I do not want some generic brand from AutoZone be used to repair my vehicle if at all possible thank you very much. These issues along with the lackadaisical and detached attitude toward the customer is utterly ridiculous. I did afterall buy this bike from RBM just a couple of years ago and didnt exactly bring in a 75 bucks Walmart bike with a blown tire and a missing seat in for servicing. The last straw was the old guy telling me that he couldnt find/order a Specialized pulley anywhere so got a used one laying around in the back, put it on, and charged me for it. Seriously?! What are you retarded?!? Thanks but Ill take my (service) business elsewhere after this experience.
