08/22/2015 - Had two REI tents - HC4 (2008) and a Half Dome 2 person (2010). The rainfly attachment Velcros had de-laminated during our camping trip a week ago. Both the plastic weld and the sewing re-enforcement had given way on the attachment points. It was making the rain-fly very difficult to use. I had called custom service to see if repairs might be covered by their limited lifetime warranty. They informed me that I would need to take it into a store to have someone review the issue. The manager took a look at the damage and informed me that they could either offer a full refund for both tents (since i could provide my original proofs of purchase) or hook me up with the company that does all their repairs (since we are members). Since my family had already outgrown both these tents we went for the full refund on both tents and took what we got back to pick up the kingdom 8 for our future camping needs. My wife was extremely sad to see these two tents go because they have been absolutely awesome with many great memories. That said we loved the service that REI was able to give us. The manager was very patient with all our questions through the different options and very clear in providing us with our options. We are fully satisfied customers (as we have been in the past) but I had to post since the customer service just blew us away (given that one tent had been purchased in 2008 and the other 2010). I have been here a few times. First couple of times I was checking out the rock climbing shoes to buy and a day pack. No one asked if I needed help or anything, l honestly didnt care but that would have be nice. However, this is not why Im rating it a two star. I was there yesterday to finally buy the climbing shoes Ive been looking at for past two months. Every person that walk in before me the young man said hi, when I walked in he just stared at me. I get to the check outline and they allow someone to cut straight in front of me. I have been waiting there for almost 5 minutes and then to have someone cut in front me was very rude. I have no idea is this store is bias or not but I did not feel welcome at all. Probably want be going to this location every again, Ill just order online.

I have probably spent too much money at REI over the years, but Im more than happy to do it every time. With the exception of the Southlake location. This is my 3rd time going to the Southlake location for very specific shoes and had to walk out due to their horrible customer service. They straight up ignore you. Not even an acknowledgement. I literally walked around the store to tell someone I just need one different shoe size and Im Trying to pay you but no one wants to help. I dont get it. I must say the older guys in there are nice. Every other REI is simply Amazing. Rock climbing, camping, shoes, etc.

REI is always great. This one is a little less hectic than the one in Dallas and located near a lot of the great shopping in Southlake. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable ... but too helpful. I honestly enjoy going to REI and thinking, dreaming, and just seeing whats new and out there. I told you that I dont need help, I entertained your REI Visa card promo, now please, leave me alone. Yes. I know about that promotion. Cant you see Im with my family and want to shop? Sigh... Its such a let down sometimes. Salespeople gotta sell, but no thanks means no thanks.

First time in the store to look at shoes. Someone actually asked if I needed help. Sometimes its too much to ask. They didnt have the shoe in stock at that store, but knew the Dallas location did. I wish I would have gotten his name. He was extremely helpful and had a pair of the Altra shoes that I was looking for. He suggested to buy them online, free shipping, and if I dont like them to simple return them to the store. He told me about they very comfortable return policy. I will NOT be returning these shoes and I will be buying more of these shoes from REI.

Probably spent an hour there today buying a hiking backpack. Staff was extremely helpful, aiding me in adjusting the backpack, filling it with weights, etc. I had recently been twice to a competitors store where, among other things, the staff (with a few exceptions) were either unavailable or simply didnt know their merchandise. The contrast with REI was dramatic. I recommend this REI store to anyone who wants quality merchandise or needs qualified help.

Good overall place for typical personal recreational equipment, gear, clothing, and supplies. The staff is pretty knowledgeable about their own products, and some even have personal experiences using the equipment. The place gets busy, so going at a non-busy time will allow for more personal service..... but then they arent staffed as fully during those times, so an expert in a particular item may not be available.

If you like the great outdoors in the non-motorized fashion you will not go wrong at REI. While this REI has a smaller footprint than many of the stores, they still have a great selection of gear, shoes and clothes. The staff is willing to help you and most are very knowledgeable. Always appreciate the REI return policy for members, they always stand behind the products that they sell.

Good selection of climbing gear considering were in Texas. Also, the staff doesnt try to shove memberships down your throat unlike some other REI locations.
