What more can I say about FoodMaxx, other than Im glad to have a grocery store just around the block? Well, I guess I better say more than that. I wasnt sure what to really expect from this place. The only thing I knew about it was that it was similar to Food 4 Less. That is to say, groceries that you pretty much bag yourself. Decent prices too. Im guessing thats how they keep their prices low. Well, FoodMaxx is indeed the same in that regard, however they also have baggers if you have a lot of groceries AND theyve also got self-checkout. Im a HUGE fan of self-checkout and not many stores in Vallejo have it. When I dont have many items, it is extremely convenient. I go in, get my stuff, head to self-checkout, and Im outta there in a jiffy. Love that junk to death! Self-checkout love aside, theyve got great prices on nearly everything. They also have an 8 piece fried chicken for about 5 bucks that tastes great and, heck, thats a pretty darn good deal for 5 bucks. Theyre bakery is also a nice spot for sweets. Theyve got delicious tres leches cake, a big ol square slice for only $1.99. A hard deal to beat for sure. I also like that this store is well organized. Food 4 Less is a bit too cavernous for my tastes. This FoodMaxx, more or less, keeps the same floor plan as the Lucky supermarket that it used to be. All in all, Im really happy with this supermarket. Im definitely going to be a regular here.

No comparison to the former Luckys Superstore in terms of service, quality of food (especially meat), accessibility (milk is farthest from entry), and safety in parking lot (i.e., you AND your car). My #1 complaint though is the loss of "Threes a Crowd" - they will have you behind 20 people to buy one item and never request another checker - while self-check is closed. It goes from worse to astonishingly worse when you want to buy alcohol since you have to wait in line just to ask for spirits since theyre locked up. At that point, the checker stops checking no matter how many in line to hunt down whatever you asked for (so youd better describe it well). To add insult to injury (as in physical injury/disability), you have to bag it all yourself and no one will help you to your car. My mother was attacked by 2 teens despite being parked in first spot nearest door while 2 female staff retrieved baskets and were too busy talking to notice her fighting them for her purse. Next day, security guard was on site, although they no longer watch the parking lot/outside. Mayor decided FoodMaxx is what this side of town "needed" and booted Lucky for this OSHA law breaker. Imagine the items piled high overhead falling on you during an earthquake - and wear a hard hat if you go!

Went into food max for some shopping bought a family max Pak of pork steaks,they smelt funny and where slimy,I immediately wrapped them up and went back to the store. (Remember with meat ,when in doubt throw it out) I went to the girl in front told her about the meat,she said go back and get another pack and take it to the assist manager he will check you out.on the way back to the meat dept. The so called meat packer ,said excuse me those arent the right ones,there was absolutely nothing wrong with that meat I packed it today,I told him I am a nurse and I dont eat slimy smelly pork. TRICHAMONOUS comes from pork. The meat guy was very rude and disrepectful. When I went to the register, meat guy right behind the assist manager again telling him and me there was nothing wrong with that meat him and another guy smelt it. I told him to take them home and eat them I do not think I will ever go back. Good prices but not good enough to be treated so rude

Its a nice place to do your little everyday shopping and your big everyday shopping as well. The employees are nice and friendly and very helpful when you have a question. The security guy who works nights though...he is not so friendly and doesnt know how to joke around. I think his girlfriend might be punishing him for some reason. Haha...sorry bad joke. But he really could be a little bit more friendly if you know what I mean. Anyway...all in all FoodMaxx is a great place to shop for anything anytime.

Well, we really like FoodMax, but on occasion like tonight, there are line ups everywhere and when the lines are long l dont think its a good policy to close your checkout counter which only leaves two open, even the self serve checkouts were crowded. I might add lm speaking for several of us. Just think there should be more help when lines are so long. Thank you

This place offers plenty of parking spaces, food is very affordable and good quality produce, lines may be a little longer now that food 4 less is closed , but cashiers open closed lines when they notice the lines getting longer so props to food maxx for being attentive to their customers need been shopping here for 2 1/2 years and i am a happy customer.

Decent prices. Sometimes check out can take awhile as they always seem to have too little checkers. I would recommend avoiding it on the weekend for that reason. Decent alcohol choices and their ethnic food choices(primarily Hispanic food) are as good or better than many of the other stuff nearby.

All of the food is high quality, often times the same brands I get anywhere else, but its a lot less expensive. You have to bag your own groceries but there are rarely long lines as they seem to add checkers as needed. This is one of the best places to coupon shop. Friendly and Clean.

The Vallejo Food Maxx is suprisingly clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. This location is better then most of the food maxx stores in the bay area. Best times to shop is before 11am.

Food is pretty cheap here - meat is adequate quality but the produce should be used soon after purchase. There is always a long line no matter what time it is. Never enough checkstands open.

Has everything you need from a grocery store. Prices are low and there is self checkout. There were like six self checkout terminals and they all worked. Ive never seen that anywhere.
