I originally took my 2010 Fusion in for servicing at Gene Butman Ford in Ypsilanti MI. The A/C in my vehicle was not functioning. Air was blowing through all the registers, but the air was not cold. That is the reason I took the vehicle in for servicing. After paying $2,000 and having a new A/C Compressor installed I inspected the vehicle. The right side was still hot air. I had not even driven off the lot! I walked back into the store and explained my dissatisfaction. The service rep came out and agreed that the right side of the vehicle was not blowing cold air. Without a single apology he asked me to leave it with them again. Later that evening I came back to pick up my vehicle. The reason I was given for the mistake is that the clutch on my original compressor had exploded and shrapnel had entered the system. They were able to blow out the system, and cold air was coming out of all of the registers. I was told it would be about $300 to replace the hoses if the issue had happened again. I was bothered by the fact that this problem wasn’t considered during the original servicing, but was hopefully relieved that the problem was discovered, addressed, and would not return. After the vehicle was diagnosed they called me back and said that the hoses as well as the mufflers would have to be replaced, and that it would cost about $900. This is three times what I was told earlier! I explained to them that I had come to realize that it is common practice to change the hoses in the event that an A/C clutch explodes. The shop had my entire vehicle taken apart last month, and didn’t even give me the chance to change out the hoses! Today they were asking me to pay them labor to correct their own negligence? No answer to this question either. To say the least I am very frustrated with Gene Butman service department. Not only was there a lack of accountability and respect, but just an overall lack of care. I was planning to explain my experience with a manager, but was in a hurry to pick up my car because of an evening appointment that I was already committed to. ========================== ========================== UPDATE: Manager of the service department contacted me, and they really went out of their way to fix my situation. They fixed my vehicle in just one day after receiving the parts for a discount from the original estimate.

Liars. They take advantage time and time again. I cannot tell you how many times people have GUESSED at where I bought this car before I could even tell them. My wife and I purchased an inexpensive vehicle from their used car dealership. We were signing over the paperwork and I made a comment saying, "The point was to get something inexpensive. All we really need was a motorized grocery cart as we take the bus and work downtown." The gentleman seemed offended and became defensive and said this car will last "a very satisfactory amount of time." I should disclose that I did not purchase any warranty on the car as the options offered were 1/3 to 3/3s of the total cost of this vehicle. I could not afford to double my money. A week, to the day, after purchasing the car, it began to overheat. I took it to the dealerships mechanic. I explained that the car was a week old. He told me to walk over and speak with the man while he took a look at the car. I told the guy that sold me the car what the problem was and he and the boss-man kicked me out of the office to talk amongst themselves. I found out that the man that became defensive of this cars integrity was the former owner of the vehicle. He did not disclose any of the issues with the vehicle, the oil leak, back windows not rolling down, and the overheating. I went back to the mechanic and waited for 2 hours. They said, "We changed the battery a week ago so youre fine. No problems." Winter came and the issue only persisted once every two or three months. It was one of those things "we will take care of later." Later finally came two days ago when I took it into a local shop. I payed $170 for them to flush my entire radiator and fill the fluid. It still overheated. I took it back and they looked further... the fans never worked. The circuitry is overloaded (explaining why the back windows dont roll down) and the former owner let it go for so long that it all MELTED together, even the fuses were melted. To fix this problem that existed before I purchased the car was $1,000 and Ive already put $800 into fixing its other problems. Had I given into his persuasion to buy the $3,000 warranty, none of this would have even been covered.

The worst place to go, my wife and I leased a 2014 Ford Focus, aka POS, from here and with in the the 1st year we had it in for trans issue multiple times, they said its normal for the focus mind you it didnt do this when we test drove it or for the 1st few months. Year two we still were having issue with the trans, had it in to the shop a total of 9 times to date for the transmission, on the last time we had it in told the person that the doors had a recall on them can you fix them while its in, they said sorry your isnt under the recall. A few weeks later I got a letter in the mail stated that the our is under the recall, so I call up to the dealership and asked if I could get it in and why didnt they fix it when it was in the last time. The answer is that they dont have a fix for it, which the recall is the door may no close or pop open while driving. So I asked if we could get out of our lease, I would pay the remainder but just roll it over into the new call which was about 1700 bucks, they said no that they cant do that, they would have to buy the car out right and there valve of the car isnt worth what we own if we were to buy the car, and we would have to roll over 3000+ to get out of it. I had a Dodge Ram that we were leasing that had a year left, the dodge dealer did what I want gene Butman to do and just roll over the left over payment so the my pregnant wife didnt have to drive in the focus. So now the focus just sits in our driveway and Im still making payments on it, today I went to move it the door wont shut, "THE RECALL" and they want me to have them put a new recalled part in it because they still dont have a fix. So in conclusion Id rather jerk off with sandpaper then, deal with gene Butman ford or even buy another ford

I have to say a few things about Gene Butman ford ,my mother took her 2005 mercury mariner to Gene Butman ford because a light on her dashboard came on so she wanted it looked at. She was told that they were going to charge her over $ 100.00 for a system check with a computer, they did snd everything came out A-OK so they said it was an oil sensor so $ 205.00 later it was ready to go,she drove about 7 to 10 miles and all electronic items in the car went crazy and wouldnt drive. She called them back and had it towed back to them at her expense . They then said they would check it out and she asked them to let her know what the new problem was b 4 they do anything else to the vehicle, not only did they test it again and tell her now its the alternator but that it would be real close to $800.00 for the job .they now were not told they could do the work yet ,but they took it all apart b 4 it was authorized. Not only did it not cost her half of the $800.00 but the job didnt cost as much as they were going to charge her for the part at the ford dealer. They then tried to pressure her into doing the job as she was calling her tow co. to have it towed to a shop in Whitmore lake that has been taking care of all of her vehicles for over 10 years now ,the only reason she even went there in the first place was it was a mile or two away when the light came on in the first place, I really think they should make it make it right because not only was she charged for the system check but it came out clean on paper the less then 10 miles later it broke down, why was she charged for that and then lied to about the job. Shame on you Gene Butman Ford, for tring to take advantage of an older woman that just wanted an honest job done.
