We recently bought several pieces of furniture, including a full bedroom suite, a full home office, including 2 files cabinets, desk, computer workstation and bookcases, 2 sofas, end tables, floor lamps, bar stools, etc. In addition, we ordered wool carpet runners for the stairs in our Victorian home. Being new to the area, we shopped at Whit-Ash based on the recommendation of a friend. Our salesperson, Barri, was delightful, helpful and wonderful to work with. When the first "batch" of furniture was delivered, 3 polite and conscientious guys arrived and spent 4 hours installing the furniture. It was a great experience. Things took a severe downturn when the second sofa and other pieces were delivered. The guys pushed the sofa through the doorway and cracked the threshold in the door. The argued about it and ultimately took no ownership of their actions. Whit-Ash sent someone out to look at the damage who also argued with us and ultimately, was asked to leave the house. An insurance claim was filed and the gentleman who came out took pictures, but assured us that he was just there to document the incident and would not make any determination or suggestion about the damage. We learned (by form letter from the insurance company) that the "appraiser" indicated Whit-Ash was not at fault. Ultimately, its not about the cost of the damages, but more the attitude of Whit-Ashs employees. VERY disappointing, especially in light of the fact that we have spent a lot of money with the organization. Needless to say, we wont be shopping there again.

The initial sale of the furniture I worked with April. She was FANTASTIC! Im a NO hassle person, I hate to shop...I see/know what I want and go on a mission. My husband and I bought this furniture the end of April, maybe first of May. I have purchased furniture from Whitash before and it lasted over 20 plus years. The stitching is already coming out, the stuffing inside the cushions are separating, and there was nails sticking out on the inside of the cushion (found while looking for remote!!) Needless to say we went back in ( after several emails, pictures exchanged etc.) They wanted to "repair" it....however its NEW it shouldnt have to been repaired. They agreed to give me a credit, we could come pick out something else. We worked with Kathleen this time (another FANTASTIC person) We finally found another couch that we thought would be great for our family. Unfortunately it would cost me $600 more. The managers didnt want to come off the price any, then finally agreed to $100 off. To me this wasnt worth my time to have to deal with this disaster. We WILL NEVER SHOP there again. Its unfortunate that the 2 sales reps I worked with were above and beyond with customer service, then the managers were not. I felt like I was at a car dealership trying to negotiate a car sale :( So today I will no longer have furniture, and I am extremely disappointed in my overall experience having to deal with this. We spent A LOT of money in there for what we feel like is less than good quality furniture :( Stacey

Terrible furniture and service is even worse. I bought a dining set for over $1000 from here. The salesman acted very sincere and that he had come over especially from a rival furniture store because this furniture was the best quality and really cared about customers. Within less than 2 months the stitching and material of the seats came apart. I finally got a replacement, and not more than three months later, the new replacement had the same problem. The customer service made false statements about the person handling my issue being out of the office for a week or not getting my email and then when I called back a few minutes later, that person answered immediately. Warranty person never got back to me and when I called to talk to the manager, the manager said I couldnt get a replacement but could exchange for something half the size. Very rude and I urge you, if you want any quality of service for your money, take your business elsewhere. Furniture falls apart in a matter of months. Needless so say, I will not be shopping here again.

On July 4, we arrived at the store about 20 minutes early. We planned to just walk around the area until the store opened, but we were brought in by a side door and introduced to Dot. She helped us with the initial reason we were there, to purchase a day bed, and then asked if wed like to look at a mahogany bedroom suite which was on sale. We had planned to buy one in the future, but they made it easy to purchase the suite there; they held it in the warehouse, even though the advertising all said that nothing would be held. We originally requested a September delivery, but we had delays in getting the room ready, so I had to call and ask them to hold it until the end of October. Again they were very willing to do that for us. Today I called to schedule the delivery, and again had a very pleasant conversation with Delivery which resulted in the furniture being scheduled for delivery on the date and time I preferred. We will definitely go back to Whit Ash to look for the next furniture we need.

This is for the repair department, I am extremely upset about their process with picking up repairs. I was told 2-4 for a pick up and when called to add another number around 1:45 they switch the time to try and tell me 4-6, completely different times(especially when Ive had a flight scheduled for Christmas for over a month and had to leave at 4:30 to arrive at the airport). All they can say is we can come a different day this is very bad business. They already told me it would be a few weeks to get it fixed but now I will have to wait a few weeks to get it fixed plus wait an entire week for my pick up. Very disappointing and its funny how every other detail Kathleen remembers but just not the incorrect time she gave me. This will be my last time purchasing from whitash and paying all the extra money for a service plan.

Hands down, Worst customer service experience ever! Very rude and extremely unprofessional behavior by one of their enployee ( probably and unfortunately manager or some superior there). I never regretted walking in any store as much as I did here. Humiliation is an understatement for what we felt as a family, especially my 7 year old son, yes a Kid!! If your idea of buying furniture is to walk through fleamarket of furniture with a hovering sales representative only to be humiliated by his superior, then go for it! There are far better Furniture stores with excellent customer service in Columbia and area around .

Was totally enjoying my shopping and ready to write a check last week when we, from a good distance heard what I have to assume was one of the managers very loudly reprimanding one of the employees. That employee had been helping us and was a very impressive young man. I have no idea what was going on, but whatever it was should never have been addressed in that loud a voice in hearing distance of several customers. Loved the selection, the prices were in line and Kyle was a big help. Really disappointed in the impression we now have of management and the entire operation to allow that to go on..
