For starters, this is the busiest Costco in the Reno area and serves people from all over (especially California- check the license plates in the parking lot), so right away youre caught up in a California type whirl wind of kill-or-be-killed shopping. Let me mildly summarize todays typical venture, which will be my last.. First, parking is not so great. Its very crowded and people are in a hurry. Watch your little ones, because noone else will. Then comes the crowd who will, if you dont stay focused, run you over for standing in one place too long or for moving at a less than stellar pace. My poor son, who was trying to push a heavy cart (our daughter hurt her foot so I had her in a stroller), was cut off TWICE by people who should have been acting as ADULTS. He almost hit the second lady but shes lucky we are raising a gentleman whod rather throw out his hip stopping the cart than run over a woman. On my way to check out, about three people hurried in front of me, like a bunch of elementary kids trying to be first in line for recess. Seriously folks? Then, we ordered pizza to go. It was stale, hard (quite overcooked) and had the looks of sitting under a warmer for hours and hours. Yum! Last, once we get home, I open a package of Double Chocolate Muffins only to find someone messed up in the bakery and mixed poppy seeds into the mixture. Not a good combo and its a good thing no one in my family has an alergy to poppy seeds. So, I call to inform them that someone made a mistake. The lady on the phone cuts me off, tells me to just bring them back and exchange them. I live an hour away, so its not cost effective for me to drive back to exchange muffins. Then she tells me to just take them back whenever I come into town... but Im not interested in exchanging them and if she wasnt trying so hard to get me off the phone shed realize that. Im a little concerned someone is going to eat these who may have a seed allergy (as TWO people I know do) so I explain this to her. Honestly, she have could cared less. She said shed inform the bakery in the morning and hung up on me. Very professional... So, thatll end our visits to the Reno Costco. If youre looking for something less California (at its worst), more friendly and easy going (and you intend to be nice, too) take the extra miles to Sparks or Carson City.

I want to like this store, really I do. I loved shopping at Costco when I lived in Salt Lake, and Ive been to the location in Spanish Springs which was great also, so I know Costco can run a good store... this is not one of them though. If you must use this location, my advice is that if you dont already have a day off midweek, plan on calling in sick and going midweek. Even on a slow day, parking is a nightmare, the aisles are overcrowded, this being a smaller store the variety isnt that great and stock outs arent unheard of, there isnt nearly enough check out stands (my entire shopping trip in Salt Lake routinely took less time than just waiting in line at this one), and the staff is either burned out or never cared in the first place. Ive had door guards tell me that it was no problem if I went in while a friend finished his cigarette, they would wave him through, only to get a phone call a few minutes later that the exact same door guard had no memory of that conversation and I had to escort my friend in with me, Ive had cashier insult my choice in phone and imply since I set up a joint account with my mother (hey, they allow it, why waste money on two memberships when you can set up two people on one account) that I was a mammas boy, and the icing on this horrible cake is my coworker who had an employee who consistently hit on her after she told him in no uncertain terms to stop (I will concede though that I never witnessed this myself, so it could be her making up stories, but it kind of fits with how Ive been treated). And, they expect us to pay for this privilege. The best thing Costco could do with this store is to close it completely and start over from scratch at a new location with better parking, a larger store, and more checkstands, Id propose the old Park Lane property, but they were too slow for that.

Since Im vegan, I only go here to get organic fruits and veggies and some other vegan friendly items. Sadly, I feel very disappointed in their treatments of me everytime I shop here. I feel harassed by the employees following me, giving reports about me on their walki talk is. They follow me everwhere while I shop. And I havent done anything wrong. I dont shoplift, I dont complain about anything, Im not rude to anyone. Im a very straightforward shopper. I just get what I need , pay and leave. The only time some of their employees are nice is when they want to sell you something, e.g. upgrade costco card. Since they are rude and mean, I feel intensely sad at the thought of coming to shop here. It truly makes me feel sad & bad. Ive always been a hard worker since 14 y.o. paid for my own education and everything else. Never shoplifted. But they treat me like I do. Treats me worst than trash. I avoid shopping here as much as possible. But sadly I have to go back for things I can only get here at large volume e.g. organic broccoli florets, frozen organic fruits, etc. I only shop here once a month now. But I still have the biggest dread coming to this place filled with assholy employees

Okay, the thing you have to know about Costco is that they treat their workers much better than the competitors, and that should matter! They still keep the prices low, and shopping here is the suburbanites wet-dream. Its got everything. My wife and I have been married for a while, so our best idea of a date is going to Costco, then getting a bite. I will say, and I almost gave it four stars for this, is that it is just too crowded sometimes. I know they have a second location, but maybe a third should be coming? Go during the week and spend like two hours just going down every aisle. I cant believe what Ive become.

Costco is my favorite place to shop of ALL TIME! I moved farther away but its worth the drive for us to continue our membership. We save SO MUCH money, plus the quality of their items are superior to anywhere else I shop. Even though we dont have kids left in the home, we find that our grocery & toiletries shopping bill is at least 30% cheaper overall. Costco is our go-to for practically everything we spend money on from groceries, toiletries, gas for our car, renters insurance, car insurance, car rentals, gifts, household items, bedding/mattresses, furniture, vacation packages, and MORE!!

August 2017. I really do dislike shopping here but the prices are very good on a lot of items. The cilantro shrimp in the deli is very good. The rotisserie chicken is also very good and is almost as cheap as the best sale price of whole raw chickens in the area grocery stores. Bottled water is the cheapest Ive seen and I carry a case in my work truck at all times. Kitchen items, laundry soaps, zip lock bags, ground beef and pistachios are some of my regular items here because they are low priced. It is often times VERY crowded but obviously I find it worthwhile to stand in the lines.
