It is what is, a 5 & dime. These kinds of stores are deliberately antiquated, & one walks in more for the old style experience. It has a better variety than your typical dollar store, but if you buy the same types of things that you would find at the dollar store, of course youre going to pay a slightly higher price for its location. But they also have ubiquitous tourist trap kinds of souvenirs, beach clothes & suits, tons of kids toys, a huge beach hat selection. Id skip the soda fountain bar, theres a reason they died out.

I really wanted to like Dellas. Its the local five-and-dime with a soda stand right across the walk from the Stewarts that moved into the space formerly occupied by the Atlantic Books. But I didnt like it. Its got a fair selection of sundries and games for families taking their vacation in Cape May, but the stores decor is a little faded. The guy at the soda stand got our orders wrong and took his time doing it. The ice cream seemed a little stale, as did the contents of the lonely cookie stand in the middle of the bar.

Service was horrible, waited almost half an hour for two lemonades and two shakes and the place was empty. The drinks we threw out a block away The milk shake wasnt even mixed and the fresh squeezed lemonade was made with a syrup that was so sweet it was disgusting.

This is a classic 5 an 10 store which epitomizes the vibe that is Cape May. Not entirely useful but always a joy to stop in anyways.
