Wegmans is a supermarket located in Amherst, New York, known for its wide range of products and services. With a rating of 4.6, it is open 24/7, catering to the diverse needs of the community. This article aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the organization's performance based on customer reviews, focusing on various aspects such as service quality, availability, pricing, products, staff, and location.
Some customers appreciate the friendly nature of the staff, particularly the Helping Hands crew. However, there are instances where the friendliness is considered excessive, causing discomfort and delays for customers.
Wegmans is highly praised for its fresh produce, including exotic fruits like mangos. The store brand is also considered to be of high quality, often surpassing name brands.
Customers have reported issues with items being out of stock or on backorder for extended periods. This is particularly concerning for those who follow specific diets, such as vegetarianism.
The frequent rearrangement of the store has been a point of frustration for long-time customers, making it difficult to locate items and prolonging shopping time.
While Wegmans is lauded for its competitive regular prices, it lacks in offering big sales or "Buy One Get One" deals. This has led some customers to prefer other stores that offer more frequent sales, particularly on healthy items.
The store offers a wide range of products, including a significant organic and gluten-free section. New products are frequently added, and the store is commended for its vegan-friendly options.
The Wegmans store brand receives high marks for quality, often considered as good as or better than name brands.
The positive attitude of the staff is frequently mentioned, contributing to a pleasant shopping experience. However, some customers feel that the staff can be overly friendly, to the point of causing discomfort.
The store is easily accessible and serves as a go-to supermarket for the local community. It is particularly popular among those who have been shopping there since childhood.
The store has a mezzanine and dining area where local board games groups meet, indicating a level of community engagement.
Wegmans in Amherst offers a comprehensive shopping experience but has room for improvement in certain areas. Addressing these concerns could elevate the store to an even higher standard of customer satisfaction.

I love Wegmans, generally speaking. But I have stopped going to this location because of one of the employees who works on the Helping Hands crew. Whenever he is working, he goes out of his way to say hello to *everyone* in the parking lot - and I mean, really goes out of his way. The last time I was there, he stopped me while I was pulling out of my parking space and motioned for me to roll down the window. I thought something must have been wrong. Nope. He just wanted to engage me in a conversation about how great he hoped my weekend would be... He then proceeded to talk to several other customers, behind and within inches of my car (while I continued to try to back out). This prevented me from leaving the space for several minutes, placing himself and the other customers in danger of being hit by a car, as he was holding everyone up right in the middle of the drive aisle. I have had other occasions of shopping here and having this man pretty much chase me across the parking lot to tell me to have a nice day. He gets directly in your face. Im all for being friendly, but not when its so extreme that it makes your customers feel uncomfortable, stalked, harassed, or placed in harms way. I now only shop at other Wegmans locations where the staff acts relatively normal.

By far the best grocery store anywhere. If you want the biggest selection go to wegmans. If you want the freshest produce go to wegmans. No other store comes close. Their regular prices are lower then their competitors but they dont have a lot of big sales, you almost never see any bogo deals, if there are sales its like 55 cents off of something that is already $5. I know a lot of women who prefer tops because of the bonus card deals, for some reason they need deals above all else, even if its stuff they dont need. I dont usually care for the tops sales because 90% of them are on junk food, the healthy stuff is rarely on sale. Another thing about wegmans is that their store brand is amazing. Anything that says wegmans is about as good as the best name brand version of the product, sometimes better. Growing up in Buffalo you take it for granted until you move south. I was just reviewing the local publix down here which inspired me to write about wegmans.

I mostly eat vegetarian, because I want to, but after speaking with their buyer for their vegetarian options its found out that the buyer isnt even local to the area. And is most vegetarians know geography is everything tastes change as we move from one geographic location to the next. This leads to every time I find a food option that I fell in love with, the next week I come to get it and its already gone. And if they do still have it, sometimes they are atoms are on backorder for weeks at a time like soy boy tofu out of Rochester. I know people rant and Rave about how great Wegmans is, but at this point it seems to be turning into a high-end Walmart. I have shopped at Wegmans my whole life, but Im considering moving to a different store in order to pick up groceries due to the high volume of people, the continued Edition Cabinetry and shelving that limits movement in space comma and the inability to get in and out quickly.

Hate,Hate,Hate the "new" Wegmans. Have to spend time wandering around the store looking for things. To much of the store is now taken up with to many large bulk packages. These are of no use to me.Shelves are empty of products and employee told me they dont order enough but the truck will be here in a dya or to and come back then and see if what I want came in. Really???? No thank you. I now have to do most of my shopping at Tops, even though it costs more but at least I can find what it want. I do not enjoy wandering around a grocery store for almost 2 hours looking for what is on my list,a complete waste of time. I have shopped in this store since they opened but not anymore. :(

My old school Amherst grocery store. As soon as you walk in, grab your cart and swing right to the fresh vegetables. Then go towards the back of the store with the bulk, liquids, and fresh baked goods. Walk along the back of the store, before you hit the other back corner of the store buy your frozen steamer meals. Make it to the other corner of the store and youve got your dairy. Then make your way to the front of the store to the checkout. When youve been to a place so many times you can actually do the shopping trip in your own head.... Brightly lit, has an amazing mezzanine and dining area where the local board games group meets up every week.

I absolutely LOVE this particular location because they have such an incredible organic and gluten free section which seems to always be either expanding or new products are added. Every week Id pick up something new to try for a healthier lifestyle and 90% of the time, Im impressed. Plus with my recent and sudden severe dairy allergy development, its absolutely crucial for the food I purchase to be adequately labeled, which it is. And the prices are fair. Just purchased 2 organic chocolate bars, vegan granola bars, vegan salad dressing and hemp milk and only paid $20 with some change. Not expensive at all. Love Wegmans!!

Theres a darn good reason why Wegmans always seems to be on the top of the best supermarkets list. Whenever people visit from out of town, I showed them a supermarket. Yes, thats right, the supermarket that is so good its actually one of the places that I show people who are visiting town. I loves me some Wegmans. Also, I have no idea how they do it, but actually manages to have fresh mangos all the way up here. Like, actually fresh. I grew up in Florida and had mango trees in my yard. And the mangos there are as fresh as the ones that I used to pick. They have so much that is fresh and such a fantastic selection.

Every time I see a Wegmans while traveling upstate, it is like an oasis! Consistently great service & high quality products. Great hot & cold bar featuring good vegetarian-friendly options. Love the new vegan power meals now offered as well! A nice sushi section at this location—there are always amazing modern fusion-style rolls & helpful chefs. The produce variety is amazing & always fresh. This company cares about its employees & it shows in the positive attitudes of all the workers. Ive shopped at this location (always receiving my free cookie & balloon) since I was a little girl. It always feels like home!

After having shopped at this store since it first opened....we will NO LONGER shop there. Every week we go in and every week they rearrange the store yet again. When it takes you twice as long to shop because you cant find what you are looking for...it is time to stop going to that store. Wegmans....YOU FAIL!!!!! Trying to be a big box...there are many other options in our area...Walmart, Target, Tops, Aldies, BJs, Save a Lot to name a few. They will be getting my business and my money...and I will get my shopping done in a reasonable amount of time at prices that are lower than yours!
