Okay Wegmans, you missed the boat on James Street. My first time shopping here as a Syracuse resident. I shopped here before going to settlement because my hotel was close. I shopped the Wegmans stores in Rochester, and thought they would carry the same grocery items; gee, I was wrong here! At the hot foods counter, the vegetarian choices were not as good as they should be, and there was nothing vegan (my preference). I had regular vegetarian, which would not kill me. The baked goods were full of fat, and sugar--how nice. What pissed me off was that there were no south Asian sauces, or meals in the aisles. I was advised by a rep to visit the DeWitt store for these. Being that the closest Wegmans to my home doesnt carry all of the items I buy, I guess that Ill have to shop online, and have the items delivered. I was also searching for bulghar, as opposed to brown rice, or whole wheat couscous. Closer to home is Green Hills Farms, I love that store, but it doesnt carry many south Asian foods either, it does carry some. So, its online, or DeWitt. On a better note, the staff is very nice here.

This is my most-often-used Wegmans location. They are always well stocked, and I can find most everything I need here without having to deal with the craziness of the larger Wegmans in Dewitt. Having shopped here for the last 6 years, the faces in the store havent really changed leading me to believe the recent news articles that Wegmans is a great place to make a career. It is also nice to see that they give younger folks working opportunities. Many of the front-end registers are staffed by what I assume are High School aged kids gaining both valuable work experience and making money at the same time. Every employee Ive dealt with at this location seems to enjoy being there rather than it being a "job" which I cant say for the Dewitt location (see my other posts for more details).

Out of my norm, I went to this location because it was near my job. 1st and last time doing this. Everything was scattered and hard to find. My biggest complaint was the customer service I received. As soon as I got to the register I said hello to the girl, she didnt say anything back. I then asked her to double bag the heavier stuff and her attitude got worse and she said "do you want somebody else to bag up your stuff, am I not doing it right? I said no youre fine I just want my stuff double bagged I have to go up a couple stairs and I dont want to them to rip on me. Her attitude continued as I attempted to pay. I asked for a supervisor and had all my stuff re rung and it came out $20 cheaper.

Every time I come here its a bad experience. The customer service is atrocious. Im at the sub job ordering a chicken tender sandwich and the girl behind tells me "Im gonna have to wait." I reply back to her Im gonna have to wait? Do you think that is a professional way to talk to customer? She then proceeds to say would you like me to rephrase that? I shouldnt have to coach you on how to treat customers thats not my job. But yes going forward it would be best to tell a paying customers Im sorry we arent currently out if you would like we can make a fresh batch for you. I guess Ill have to start driving 20 mins out of my way to go to the dewitt store.

Decent produce selection if the item you want is actually in stock. Too many times Ive gone here and theres been practically no produce on the shelves but maybe its just when we go. Good selection of frozen foods and alcohol. Store also has a nice sized natural foods section. Ive had problems with their customer service several times. Items frequently ring up wrong so if you are watching every penny Id check your receipt before you leave the parking lot. Also, Ive been given rain checks at this location for sale items that this particular store doesnt even stock.

Love the small size and convenience of this James Street Wegmans. Recently, however, theyre following the trend of other grocery stores with having only a few lanes open at a time and long lines are forming. If anyone has a WIC check, its much worse because a manager has to be present, which is different from other stores. The managers are stretched thin and stressed. Hire more cashiers to ensure that Wegmans lives up to its reputation for great customer service!

This is actually one of my favorite Wegmans stores. Its older and the departments are a little smaller than in the "huge" Wegmans such as the one in Fayetteville/DeWitt, but it is easier to get in and out of quickly. If you need to get hand-riced, free range organic cauliflower, you may need to go to one of the mega-stores, but they still have a great range of most of the product lines and departments that youd need.

For the second time in two weeks I have visited the store at lunch time only to find that many of the little tables are occupied by store employees depriving customers a place to sit and eat--I would suggest that the employees have an employee area where they wouldnt interfere with the customers--during my visit too of the employees were just sitting texting and not even eating--Hope this doesnt fall upon deaf ears

Tiny Wegmans compared to the Dewitt one. But if you only need some basic american family stuff, you can find it all. But if you are looking for some exotic fruits or "less common" food material, I will go to the Wegmans Dewitt. However, I noticed the danish in this store offered family pack, which saves 40% here than that in the Dewitt. And some things do price lower than the Dewitt one.

Wegmans is the real only choice for groceries in my area. I dont have to contribute to the Waltons, the produce and meat is always fresh, the pricing is fair and competitive, the staff is friendly and I have been shopping there since childhood. The East Syracuse location is not the premier location in the area, but they all are a step above the rest of the grocery chains in the area.

This is a convenient and pleasant place to shop for groceries, although it does not carry the full line of products that the larger Wegmans carry. The larger stores are almost like a store or two within a store. The James St store has a pizza shop, a sub shop, and a few hot & cold food bars with seating. I believe they close service around 8 pm. The store is 24 hr.

The BEST supermarket on earth. This is one of their smaller stores and still mind boggling compared to ANY competitor. Highest quality. Superior selection. Helpful, well trained personnel. Well placed, easy to read signs. Shopping is quick, easy, and fun here. We hope they come to Tampa Bay soon - will blow Publix away! Come on, Wegmans!!
