I visited American Freight in Harrisburg yesterday to look at dining, living room, and bedroom furniture. I had a very negative experience. The sales tactics used were aggressive and had complete disregard for my expressed needs. From the moment I walked in, a salesperson approached me and started asking questions. I clearly and politely stated that I wanted to "do a circuit" of the entire floor and if I had any questions, I would let him know. He continued talking and I had to restate that I wanted to browse on my own first. The same salesperson approached me less than 10 minutes later and started asking very personal questions - "Are you looking for an existing place or a new place", "Where do you live?", "Do you live in a house?" I stated again that I wanted to look on my own. After he continued to ask questions, I clearly told him that I did not want to answer questions or talk, I just wanted to look on my own. Not even 5 minutes later, another salesperson approached me and started asking which items I liked the best. I expressed by dissatisfaction with their sales approach. Shortly after I left because I felt very uncomfortable. I recommend that salespeople LISTEN to what customers are actually saying. The company lost my interest and business.

I bought from this place about yrs ago. I bought a couch my daughters bedroom set and a living room couch. I paid 180 for delivery fee because I lived in york at the time. it was supposed to be delivered by 5pm and the big truck with all the my furniture didnt show up until almost one in the morning. when the brought it into the house everything was in boxes which meant they had to put everything together. I was about 3am before they got everything done. I was furious because I had to be at work at 6am. I called and complained and tried to get some of my delivery fee back but all I got was he run around. pathetic, also about a month after I bought it the couch was falling apart and also my wife and I bedroom set. the only thing we have left after 2 yrs is my daughters bed. I burned everything else. dont get me wrong the guy who sold us everything was nice but everything else was shitty. this was around feb 13 of 2013. I paid almost 3000 for everything. definetly not worth the time hassle or money. glad I put a smile on the sales persons face because of all the commission he made from us.

buying there was good steve nese, was very good with us and i would buy more from him, up untill 2 weeks ago when i called him as one of our sofa seats would not go back in and after looking at this i found the arms for the foot stool, Ben. I called and emailed him pics of it to have him call me back and no calles no emails, after 2 weeks tring to get ahold of him, i was very unhappy, i did find out there was no warranty because i got the floor model im ok with that biut he should have told me.. so i call back and ask for any one that know who could come fix it , and i will pay for it , YOU would think they would call or tell you who to call,, NOPE, just its not under warranty, and you get no help,, i pay the same price as every one with no warranty and this is how they act,, if I had warranty would it be any different I would not think so,

Absolutely horrible! Bought a bedroom set from there last night upon un boxing dresser I assembled mirror and went to move dresser and it all but folded. Dont get me wrong sales guys were cool, they are just doing their job, but the quality of this furniture is absolutely horrendous. I understand its not on the expensive side - but if I wanted Walmart quality I would have gone to Walmart. I will never purchase another piece of furniture from that company again. Should have went to Value City again for $100 bucks more I wouldnt need to worry about the dresser falling apart after putting it in place in the bedroom. Its very unacceptable that I paid my mother the gas and time to run me there to get my furniture and the company not honor a discount of sort to compensate the inconvenience. Im reporting to the BBB. Along with everybody else.

Absolutely horrible. I went to the store looking for a table I had seen online. It was not in the store but they told me I could order it and they would have it shipped to the store. I paid for the furniture and was told it would arrive in 3 weeks and they would call me to pick it up. Four weeks went by without receiving a call and was told I would be called back and never was. I called again the next day to be told they werent able to order any furniture at this time and that it will be possibly another four weeks. It has now been EIGHT weeks and every time I call for a refund my calls are never answered. Please save yourself the headache. I read the reviews and decided to give it a chance anyway... Please dont waste your money.

I have had a very bad experience with this store. I bought a couch and a love seat in June 16 and within a week the couch started to rip off. After several calls I was asked to send an email with the pictures. Nothing happened. After repeated calls and three months, I was told the person I had been talking to has left the company and I had to resubmit the complaint with the pictures through an email. It has been another three months and no response or action. This is the most pathetic service I have ever encountered. I would never recommend anybody to go to this store. I want them to do it right by me because so far they have not. All new customers please beware, this is not the place where you want to spend your money.

This is the worse furniture experience I have ever had. First when they delivered my couch they tore the side. They said they would get a replacement out to me. After 3 months of calling I finally received a new couch. We used the Guardian Protection cleaner on the couch immediately. The side arm started to peel after two months. Then the left recliner would go down right. Then the right recliners padding started falling out. Come to find out it appears our couch was used because there was duck tape on the underside holding in the padding. Ridiculous. I am getting ready to call but I know I am in for a run around. I will never buy from this place again.

As far as the floor service the people are really nice and helpful, once I paid my layaway off. I had my furniture delivered, it was delivered without the legs. I called to see if they were going to bring them out and the guy on the phone was nice but had to keep putting me on hold to speak to the manager who didnt want to speak to me, He told his employee to tell me that it would be another delivery fee which I had already paid 98.00. You could even tell in the gentlemans voice he knew that was BS, Or I would have to drive all the way back out there. I was so upset I told them I will never buy from there again.
