I do not normally write reviews. In fact, I think this is the first time I have EVER written a review. This past weekend, my friend Tim and I were visiting from out of town. We had the pleasure of experiencing some of the best service we have ever experienced. I hope your employees see this review and think of it as an official THANK YOU card. If you could just print this out and fold it in half before you hand it to them ;) Within the first few hours of arriving to Virginia Beach, we found ourselves excited to get to a Whole Foods. Once we reached the check out line, we had our first friendly encounter. Angelo, peaked our interest with a joke he made in reference to our birth year. We no longer were going through the motions, but took advantage of the moment. He was SO friendly, he began educating us about the juices that are made in your store. He EVEN directed us to where they are located, offering us a complementary juice to peak our interest. We greatly appreciated him going out of his way! He was extremely informative and charming! He left such an impression, we remembered to buy another flavor during our next visit to your location. Our next visit happened right before an outdoor rock concert that was taking place the next day. As we walked through the store, we realized we had ZERO time to go back and cook the food at our hotel. To make matters more challenging, Tim got a craving for an entire chicken. I have to admit, in a situation like this, I would of compromised for something simple, but I didnt have to thanks to Julio and Debra. I couldnt believe that Debra was willing to cook our mini-chicken, if Julio agreed to cut it up just how we would like it! I mean talk about going ABOVE and BEYOND! Not only did they do something special, that was not required of them, but they had us laughing and smiling the whole time. Oh! Yeah! The chicken was DELISHIOUS!!! During this time, we also got to meet Kim at the sample station. She was such a sweet young lady. I bonded with her, over my obsession for mixing salad dressing. Tim and I agreed that we would buy her favorite flavor and we loved it! She made us want to buy them all! After we got everything we needed, we went to our concert. After it was over, we noticed we had a little time to spare, before you closed. We wanted to buy this Jumbo shrimp before, but it would not have been okay to leave in our car for hours. Well unfortunately, everything that was no longer on display, which made since cause it was now 10 minutes till close. Despite that obvious fact and despite the fact we probably should not have come in SO close to close, Jalen and Dan STILL helped us out. Jalen, told us he remembered us from earlier and he remembered how we REALLY wanted the shrimp. It made my night to know that he cared to go in the back and grab something I was craving. This kind of service just doesnt happen on a regular basis. SOOOOO with all of that said, I hope everyone who sees this knows what kind of people you have working on your staff. This is the kind of service that keeps a business afloat. Just tell them Tim and Julee will not forget each and every special moment with each of them. Your team ROCKS! THANKS WHOLE FOODS!! (Do not spell check me haha!)

I was very disappointed in the pub food. The staff seemed uninterested in anything beyond making coffee, sampling the food themselves, and chatting with other workers. I went here with my infant on my last week before returning to work and I was looking for an easy place to eat lunch with him and thought this would be perfect after grocery shopping. It is very confusing to figure out where to order and it doesnt help that customers are pretty much ignored so the staff isnt much help. My son was really enjoying the bright Windows and interesting "Lighthouse" ceiling, but Im pretty sure they forgot about me because my food took way too long. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since I was the only one ordering food, but 30 minutes later. ... By this point my infant was not happy anymore. I asked about my food and got it 1 minute later. I told them I needed it to go now since the baby was fussy. They just dumped it all in one container together. I had the Buffalo Shrimp, so there was cole slaw, shrimp, fries, and veggies all together. I ate it immediately in the car while I fed my baby and it was hot, but must have been sitting under a heater or something because the shrimp were extremely soggy. It was really gross and I am feeling sick still 6 hours later. The sweet potato fries were really good. I wish I would have just ordered that so we could have enjoyed ourselves and I would have had time to go home to feed my baby. Very disappointed.

We were a strong advocate of Whole Foods coming to Virginia Beach, and were very excited on the opening store tour with all the wonderful products and promises of customer service. Now, however, we have become concerned with products being removed from the store, an unwillingness to respond to comments and suggestions, and the serious lack of customer service. Have you ever tried to call, or write to, the Whole Foods Corporate Office. No one responds to email, and no one even answers the phone. Only an outgoing message is available and no one returns the call. We have strongly supported Whole Foods up to this point, but are now going to shift much of our business back to Fresh Market. Its all really disappointing. Whole Foods has become just another large corporation that really doesnt understand customer service or communication. Since the poor economy of Hampton Roads is already a tough fit for this store, it doesnt seem like the best idea to ignore and drive off your loyal customers, and then phase out foods that are high end so that your store simply devolves into another Harris Teeter.

Ive lived in 8 states and shopped at WF in all of them. My favorite part of WF is they all smell the same a comforting amalgam of produce, pizza, broken wine bottles that were cleaned up after and LAVENDER always LAVENDER. Some times on really hot days when heading to Kroger Ill stop in to WF and cool off in their beer cave cooler which always results in the purchase of an exotic European brew with a little extra kick. Im only holding bak the 5th star for the guy at the pizza counter that mentioned how much he hates my favorite football team and for as much as I am not skin thinned about that...hell Im a New England fan. I am thin skinned about what someone that will be making my food might do to express their distaste for my team! Otherwise every other visit has been great.

I appreciate their local produce and the organic options are pretty affordable. If you want to try something, ask an employee and they will usually open it up for a sample. My favorite part of the store is the cheese corner. They usually have 2 baskets of cheese remnants that are left over from cutting larger pieces of cheese. I like the baskets because you can try expensive cheeses for less than $2 most times. Their in-house macaroni and cheese is THE BEST, ever. Id bet money on it... so is their garlic sourdough bread. If they dont have any out, theyll make some for you! Dont forget to go to the bar on the way out and grab a refillable growler of beer to take home. Theyll allow you to sample whatever is on tap that day, so you can choose whatever you like best.
