I dropped my receiver off on Feb. 11, which was a Friday. The guy there (Jim) told me to call back Monday morning to check in. When I did, I was told it would take a week to 10 days to repair. I made the point with him that I thought that seemed a little long, but he said it was because he needed to order parts. Once they came in, he said, he would call me back. On Feb. 20, I called back asking why I hadnt received a call. He told me he ordered the wrong parts and that now, new parts were on order and that he would once again call me when they arrived. On March 4, still with no call from Pro-Tec, I called in again and received nothing but attitude from him when I had the audacity to question why my week-to-10-day-repair was now running close to a month. When he started to yell at me, I told him I was always taught that the customer was always right. He actually said at that point, "Thats bullshit." So a week later, I call in again and talk to a different guy for the first time. He goes on to tell me about a fairly common problem with Denon receivers was an IC board or something like that, and that is the reason mine was taking so long to fix. He said Denon couldnt keep that part in stock. When I pointed out that it would make sense for Denon to stock more of them if they need them that frequently, he said it actually worked to opposite way and that they couldnt keep them in stock. He then told me to hang on a second and then the other guy (Jim) picked up the phone, the one who has rude in the veins. It was like we had never spoken before -- he was nice, he was pleasant and dare I say, cordial? He said his shop and Denon are at an impasse and that Denon has their account messed up and isnt shipping any of Pro-Tecs parts until it is resolved. So that explains a lot, I thought. Pro-Tec isnt paying their bills and Denon has them on hold. However, te told me my parts had actually been released and that he would call me to come pick up my receiver in the middle of the following week. No call, no call, no call. I called them on Tuesday, March 29, and Mr. Attitude was back in business. He said he just got my part in last night (uh-huh, sure you did) and that he would call me back this afternoon to come pick up the receiver. I just hung up with him and will update this review if this situation is ever resolved. But after six weeks and counting on a repair that was supposed to take a week, coupled with the treatment I have received, I wouldnt recommend Pro-Tec to fix a childs toy. ***UPDATE*** The call-back I was to receive that afternoon never came. However, he did call back about a week later and said he figured out what was wrong with it. Hmmm, where have I heard that one before. He said he might have the part in by the end of the week and that he would call me. Well, a week later, on April 6, he called and ... drumroll please? ... my receiver is fixed!!!! I picked it up April 7 since he didnt call on the 6th until close to their closing time. I now have it at home and am about to hook it up. But once again, I wouldnt trust them to fix a childs toy.

Jim Lucas fashions himself as someone with skill since he worked on an assembly line once. If he couldnt find talent that was desperate enough to work for him or get service advice from pretentious ex-employees from the same assembly line he would be in a hidden garage he rented to spend all day playing with his shaker table(huh?) or off somewhere belching up another gallon of his fart water homemade beer. He treats his employees and his family pretty much the same, as rottenly as possible. Anyone that gets money from him is treated rottenly. If your paying him on the other hand you can count on service(?) with a slightly crooked smile which is all the business acumen poor old bob has to offer.he sux

Protech repaired my Yamaha Receiver, which was under warranty, within 2 days. Luckily no parts damaged and it was just a firmware fix. Satisfied with the service. Sometimes you need to call few times to reach a person on phone (may be because they are busy fixing things) but it wasnt bad.

Brought in an window ac unit which was low on refrigerant due to a leak. Techs answer was that it probably wasnt a leak, but that the refrigerant occasionally "burns off." Do not bring your appliances here.

Great service, can take long sometimes if backlogged, but the work is done right and the owner/repair technician has a lot of experience and is very friendly

Quick and cheap service. My TV was hit by lightning and it was only $10 to check it out. I got my TV back in a week. I will use this service again!
