I have had a personally unprofessional experience with Brent. Back in mid May I dropped off a 1997 kawasaki kx60 lower crankcase that was already torn down and only needing the case halves split. Brent told me they were pretty busy and it would be a couple weeks. 1/2 hour labor(min shop charge) to run the puller and get the cases apart. I said OK thats fine. I was not in a hurry for it. I thanked him. I came in after this task was completed a few weeks later. Cases were split..... BUT the transmission was torn down. Why? What the heck? I was going to take it home with me that day but I didnt know the correct install of the trans parts(as I did not pull them). My service manual pics are terrible and I was not able to find Youtube videos covering this reassembly... I went back inside and asked him to re-assemble the case and trans. I requested a new bearing kit be ordered for that new case side. He said they wanted 1-hour of labor for the reassembly. I grinded my teeth and accepted. He said it would be another week or 2. I agreed that was fine.... 2 weeks later I get a text stating they are busy and it would be another month. Seriously? Ok, I get it. They are busy and my job doesnt matter..... OK. I told him FINE, just get it done. It has now been another month and a few days later, Aug 8. I was told via text that they could not complete the job because they are too busy. "Due to picking up Polaris and being under staffed". I requested a refund, ASSEMBLE my transmission(that was never supposed to be touched) and I will pick it up. He refused to refund me and refused to reassemble the trans. My recomendation: Dont give a guy the run around all summer long then say, here is your pile of parts back. Dont take apart things that were not supposed to be pulled apart. DO offer to refund your customers their money when you do not finish the job. I am up a creek now. I hope I can find some good info online to re-assemble this trans and do it myself. Brent did inform me to contact one of the owners. Mr Zand, or Mr. Fruedman. I will be having a professional conversation with one of them. Hopefully we will come to a correct resolution. I will follow up here and post my results at a later date. In the mean time, BEWARE if you have a small job that will not bring in $$$ for this repair shop. They are not out to help you and just out to help the guys spending the bucks.... My .02 cents. Im all about the easy transaction, and this epitomized that. Ive owned around 12 motorcycles of various types over the years and been into many dealerships, lots of dudes out there seem salty or just plain rude. Granted, if you have to stand there all day and hear stories about exploits that never happened or deal with endless amounts of tire kickers not wanting to buy anything I can see how it could get to that point but still...I did NOT have that experience with the crew at Cycle Specialties. I had done my research prior to going into the dealership and knew what a fair price for the bike I wanted was. I spoke to Evan for literally under 5 minutes and told him to call me. He did that afternoon and the deal was done within $100 of where I wanted to be, which was still an OTD price quite a bit under retail. I went the next day to pick up the bike and probably spent a grand total of 30 minutes in the dealership. Evan was great and so was everyone else, including Wes and the guys behind the parts counter (who I bought a helmet from on impulse). No frills, you have the bike I want and lets make the deal happen. I like that! I used to drive all the way to Toledo or Louisville to buy motorcycles but the crew at Cycle Specialties has proven that a local dealer has what it takes to earn my business (and repeat in a few years). If you want slimy used car salesmen haggling over $25 on the bottom line go somewhere else, if you want professionals who do their job well (and for a living), go to Cycle Specialties.

So I go there to get a bike. Which it took them 3 hrs to get all my paperwork together for me to sign and take care of the financial part of buying my bike after I was approved. Then I asked them if the bike I was buying could be lowered enough for me to ride and I was told yes, they do it all the time!! So I bought the lowering link, helmet, jacket all together in Summer of 2009. They ordered the lowering link and it took me calling about 2 months after having the bike to ask if my lowering link was in yet. They said yes, but no one called so I was disappointed at this point. So they lowered it and guess what they dont make a lowering link to where I can ride my own bike!! So now it is a year later because I wasnt going to drive in winter and now I have to SELL MY NEW BIKE. They should of known that they dont make a link for me to be able to ride.

I went into the shop on Saturday morning (2/25/17). My friend and I recently got our temps and were looking to buy some of our first gear (helmet and gloves). Shortly after browsing the large helmet section, Brad greeted us both. We filled him in on our rookie status and he gave us a great rundown of the helmet selections and criteria. We both started to settle in on some helmet styles and we never felt rushed at all. Brad was very accommodating and even encouraged us to leave the helmets on for 15-20 minutes (which we did). In the end we both walked away with a helmet and gloves for each of us and couldnt feel better about our purchases. Honestly, a nice surprise for two rookies stepping into motorcycling and already feeling like we have a home shop for our needs.

Brad was extremely helpful when my buddy and I came in on Saturday. We spent nearly two and half hours in the shop checking out some gear. He never pressured us, never rushed any of our decisions, and was extremely knowledgeable about the products. It was a great shopping experience, and Brad really went out of his way to help us out in any way he could. Both my buddy and I ended up walking away with new helmets and some gloves. Well be back in very soon to pick out some jackets, and whatever else we feel we might need as we dive into the new hobby for us. For two first timers to walk in and have as great of an experience as we did, we really feel like this is now our one-stop shop for all our future needs when it comes to riding. Youll see us around more often!

So far, I have nothing bad to day about the staff or service at Cycle Specialties. I purchased my first bike from their other location in Fairfield a little over a month ago and the service there was terrific. No pressure, answered my questions, and even held the bike, with a small deposit, for a week so I could test it in better weather. The staff at the Harrison Ave. location has been very helpfull when I needed to get parts and help direct me on how to fix my problem. They dont just sell you parts that you dont need. I havent used their maintenance area yet for repair, but their tech came out and listened to my bike run after I believed I fixed the solution. Great group of associates. Keep up the good work!
