I would highly recommend Church of Steel to anyone interested in undergoing any type of body modification. I had a piercing done at this shop, and the standards of care, cleanliness, respect, and expertise far surpass what Ive seen at other shops. From the moment you walk in the door it is apparent that this team of people operate like a well-oiled machine. The crew works well together and the daily operations of the shop are handled in a calm and controlled manner. The shop is extremely clean and the artists stations are as clean as what youll find in a doctors office. (Im a bit of a germaphobe, Im picky about this stuff!) All of the instruments and tools are sterilized, as they should be. What I really like about the shop is that they dont make you feel like they are rushing you out the door. They take their time to discuss exactly what you want, the placement, etc before they ever even put you in the chair. I know that there are shops that might offer lower prices, but the lower price will mean an inferior piece of jewelry and a less experienced artist working on your body. I was so impressed with the quality of the jewelry that I had Art (the shop owner and also my piercer) replace my other body jewelry because the medical grade stainless jewelry is much healthier for my body. I respect and trust this group of artists and enjoy doing business with them.

I’ve been engulfed in the world of tattooing for over 18 years now, from getting tattooed to tattooing. I had some very unique art that I wanted on my forearms that only a great artist could perform. I searched the San Diego area for a month and only found one shop that produced the quality work I was looking for. I made an appointment with Lance H. and have been a loyal customer for 2 years now and have show quality pieces on both my forearms. They staff at Church of Steel are amazing; they don’t hustle, don’t rape your wallet, and are very personable. Art the owner has been in the industry for many years and has a wealth of knowledge, and is a very down to earth. Evan is probably one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met and an extraordinary piercer!! Lance is hands down one of the best artists I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, with an extensive background in art and graphic design!! For those of you looking for a top of the line shop, look no further Church of Steel is where you need to be.....

I honestly wouldnt trust my skin with anybody else. All the staff is very knowledgeable and cares about the clients. They are concerned with making the best tattoo possible, they will consult every patron and give them insight on what will look good in 20 years vs. what looks cool now. Everything is extremely clean and well taken care of, with only throwaway tubes you can be sure you are not going to walk away with a disease. They are very professional in dealing with clients. If you are looking for a drunken Coors light tattoo, look else where because this shop is not that kind of tattoo parlor. A tattoo is an investment in art that will stay with you for life, and you get what you pay for! I trust this shop so much I made my wife come here. I will continue to trust Church of Steel with my health and body art.

Ive been a customer at Church of Steel for over 5 years. I am constantly getting compliments for the work on my arm Ive had done by Lance over the years. He is an awesome artist and has an awesome "chairside manner". Always making sure your comfortable and everything is going well for you. its always been a great experience. It truly is the cleanest shop Ive ever seen. I have referred a host of friends and relatives, who always come back satisfied and thank me for the awesome referral. The shop owner, Art, is a kind and caring dude. Often checking to see how your work is going, he also offers thoughtful tips for caring for your tattoo. My wife, daughter,son and of course myself have all had work done here and I would whole heartedly recommend them to anyone interested in a tattoo or piercing. 5 out of 5 stars.

On my first trip to California I thought it would be appropriate to get the Steal Your Face (Grateful Dead logo) tattooed on my leg since I have other custom pieces. Lance at Church of Steel was able to take this generic logo and make it personal. His advice about the size and placement was perfect and the detail he did is amazing. The color choices matched the picture I supplied exactly and I am very happy with the work I had done at Church of Steel. The next time I make way out to California a stop at Church of Steel is definitely on my to-do list!

I first went there for a lip piercing after not being comfortable and feeling the other tattoo shops just cared about money than me. I loved the staff,got my lip pierced it didnt even hurt not even a little bit, everyone will tell u how swollen ur lip gets, never happened to me it didnt even get red around the piercing! Loved them so much I had them draw up 2 fist sized tats on each forearm, came back the next day and once again, beautiful, absolutely no pain during and a super fast heal. I highly recommend Church of Steel! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I have spent a lot of time in tattoo shops in my life time and the Church of Steel is by far the best. They have a philosophy,business ethics, and superb quality that raise them far above other shops. At the Church of Steel a tattoo takes as long as it takes to ensure quality without affecting price. I have been a client for the last 2.5 years. Lance has done an arm sleeve on me that stops people in there tracks and makes other artist say "wow!". I stand by the Church of Steel and wont have anyone but them tattoo me!

Ive been coming to this shop for 2 years now, specifically to Lance and have had a great experience with every visit. The shop is clean, the artists are professional and the customer service is exceptional. Im constantly getting compliments from complete strangers on the colors and detail of the work Ive gotten here. This shop is great! I have just finished getting a sleeve from them and over the past year Ive been coming in it has been an awesome experience. The shop is always clean. The artists are always friendly and make sure you are comfortable (asking if you want another glass of water) I am extremely happy with the artwork in my arm. With tattoos, you pay for what you get and the shop may not necessarily be cheap but the work is definitely worth it. Wouldnt go anywhere else to mark up my body.

I got a piercing here 5 months ago and it was done beautifully (never had any problems with it). I called christmas eve because I irritated it a little bit and even though the shop was closed due to relocation the owner happily answered all of my questions and gave me a lot of information on all of the steps that I could take to nurse the piercing back to health. Amazing staff that is passionate about their work. I will only go here to get work done while Im in San Diego!
