I was on my way to a race but was feeling uncomfortable about a derailleur cable that I hadnt had time to replace. My wife and I read reviews from two shops in Fargo and I decided to stop at Great Northern because of the statements made in some of the previous reviews. I realize the pressure I put them under, they had one chance to get it right or Id be walking during my winter race. But, its a cable, they replace them and adjust them all day long. Ive owned/worked in a bike shop and could have replaced it but I forgot a star tool and I thought it would be an easy fix for them while we ate. I meant to purchase a tool before the race to check their work but ran out of time but I did ride the bike before the race. As luck would have it, the cable came completely free after 50 miles into the race. That wasnt a great moment while standing in the dark in the middle of nowhere. I was able to borrow a tool and fix the problem. I have two concerns. The first is that any decent bike mechanic should be able to install a cable on good equipment without failure. The second when I called the shop after the race, the manager made up a bunch of excuses; they were nervous, it lasted more than 50 miles, the tire pressure was low and they were afraid to ride it. Theres no need to be nervous, just do your job well. Their common cable replacement didnt last 100 miles. A bike doesnt have to be ridden to tighten a bolt correctly. I was told there was nothing they could do now about it. Since they didnt repair the bike correctly, they could have offered to refund the amount of the repair and the mechanic who did the work needs more training.

I live in Grand Forks and my stem broke. The place here could not get the part until mid to late next week. I use my bike daily for my commute to both of my jobs. I called a couple of places to see if I could have it shipped up but it was too late to send. Called Island Park and they had what I needed. Not only they had the part, they also waited for me to travel the 75 miles to get the part. They also waited for me to arrive which was after hours. They will get my business again. Thanks much.

Great Northern Bicycle Company is hands down the best bike shop in Fargo. They are located in the old train station downtown, which is a fantastic space. They have a very wide array of bikes and accessories. I have used them numerous times for tuneups and repairs and I have been very satisfied every time. The staff are friendly, their prices are reasonable, and the turnaround time is quick. Theyve done an excellent job with my bike over the last few years, I highly recommend them!

This place is amazing. Staff wants to learn your name and really push you to get out and ride. Their bike group is a blast to ride with and their service department is spot on! After our first time there: Why didnt you tell us you closed a half hour ago??? (We thought as we left and realized we were in there for well over an hour) Great service! Super friendly!

The crew at Great Northern is absolutely amazing! While touring through the area they squeezed a tune-up in for two bikes with no notice. Everything was professionally done and at a very good price. It is very obvious why we were hearing about this bike shop for a couple hundred miles. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Had a great experience here while passing through on tour. The bicycle mechanic was thorough in ruling out that the bicycle didnt have an issue with the chain or cassette. The shop itself is neat and well kept.
