After coming to terms with the fact that our pug may have a food allergy; we decided that we would begin the process of switching their food to a grain free option. We researched several brands online and decided to give one a try. After checking that manufacturers website for stores in West Michigan we ended up at Chow Hound. When you walk into this location there are registers off to the left, and dog food all along the wall to the right. The back of the store has a dog washing station and public restroom. While trying to find the brand that we were searching for an employee came up and asked if we needed assistance finding anything. I asked him if they carried Evo as that was one of the brands we had checked out. He said they did and took me right back to where they were located. Directly behind that was a rep from Natures Variety and another Chow Hound employee chatting. We checked out the different options and were trying to decide what we wanted to do as we were not 100% sold on switching from Fromm. The lady from NV told us that if we needed any assistance that they were there to help. She ended up giving us a sample of their products and began to tell us how theres were different and similar to Evo. I told her that we thought our pug had a food allergy and she went further into what the allergy could in fact be. I know she doesnt work for Chow Hound but she was amazing!!! Once we selected the brand and food we wanted to try out we proceeded to the check out lane. At the time only one lane was open but another employee quickly came up and opened another. The checkout process was very quick and easy. They do offer a rewards program but I did not inquire as this is a local business and I am from the Indianapolis area. BUT next time I am up here (and if I lived here) this would be the place Id get all my pets supplies.

We have been customers for 18 years. The staff is always helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The store is always clean and organized. The only thing that I would change would be to bring back the toys and squeaker refills for small dogs that you stopped carrying a little over a year ago. It forces me to shop your competitors even though they are farther away, because my furry babies love toys and need replacement squeakers all the time.

Each and every staff member have been trained well. I have never been referred to someone else to have my questions answered! Greg is a tremendous help. He gave me referrals to food pantries that provide emergency portions of dog food. Chowhound Northland Dr. has a customer for life!!!

I have been shopping at the Chow Hound, since they first opened, about 25 years ago. Its a great store, I like supporting local businesses. staff is always very helpful and friendly, very knowledgeable about the products.

Have a lot of different pet food brands. Most employees are knowledgeable, if they dont know the answer they will find someone who does. Will help you with heavy things to your car. Not a cheap place.

The dogwash was a good idea in theory but the water doesnt stay warm. The dryer is so loud it could scare a dog (it did ours) overall the store is great. Good selection.

This place is ridiculously expensive. $20 for a can of KMR (Kitten Milk Replacer) powder that costs $13 pretty much everywhere else.
