City Pets is probably the best store to get live fish in town. The employees are friendly and helpful, the selection of fish is usually good (and if its not its because theyre about to place an order and theyll add you to their call list and call you when it is), and their fish are usually healthy. Ive never had a City Pets fish die on me (except one that was totally my fault for not watching the pH of my tank). They dont have a fantastic selection of live plants for aquaria, but are helpful in finding places that do. Better yet, they work with you when you make mistakes. If you get a pet that doesnt work out with the others, they will gladly take it back and help work with you to replace it. Definitely one of my favorite pet shops, and even better cause its right in the heart of Westport and not all the way out in the suburbs.

I always make the effort to purchase my pets food and toys from City Pond first. I prefer to support my local neighborhood store. VERY friendly and knowledgeable staff who always offer to help me carry my big bag of dog food to the car. (Im not a wimp, just usually have multiple items ;) However, I do wish they were open later...sometimes I have to drive to Overland Park to Petco when they are closed. Also, items are a bit pricier than Petco...but not by too much ...not that it would cause me to drive out to OP for a bag of dog food.

This place has gone downhill over the last few years. They no longer have any Marine fish, and their prices are outrageous for all items. I used to be okay with paying a slight premium to help out a local business, but I cant anymore. The service in my experience has been poor as well. I called to check on an item in stock and was on hold for 15 minutes, enough time to drive to the store and see the lady that put me on hold flirting with the security guard, WHILE IM STILL ON HOLD.

My favorite service offered by this pet and pet supply store is the dog groomer on staff....by far KCs best and brightest! Kelly does a super fantastic job, completely thorough grooming and hygeine services for a very very reasonable price. Tip her well! Make an appointment ahead of time, she is usually booked at least a full week in advance, usually closer to two weeks...yes, she is that great!

Whenever possible I like to support local businesses for obvious reasons, but many of the items I have purchased at City Pet I can usually find at other places for almost HALF of the cost!!! The only product that I have found that is reasonable is their Taste of the Wild dog food. I will only buy that dog food there. Nothing else.

Got there couple minutes to spare to buy my guinea pigs paper bedding. The doors were already shut and 2 employees with a manager was were lounging by the cash register. Very rude and they even saw us. Id rather drive somewhere else than shop here ever again.

This is a great place to start if you want to support a small local pet store. Their selection is at a medium level and the staffs knowledge can be spotty. There are great people there and for a quick stop in for Pet food, they are a good place to begin.

This place is a lot bigger on the inside than you would expect from the storefront. They have a great selection of lots of small animals, lizards, birds, and fish, and really reasonable prices! I was definitely impressed by this local pet shop!

Friendly staff! Kind of wonder about some of the dog food brands though- they either have switched away from vendors or cant get the ordering quite right. Due to this I have switched to Petco.

While a bit short on the variety of supplies you might need for a pet (more on the terrarium based pets side of the spectrum), what is provided is solid and the service is nice.

The staff here is very professional and helpful. They have a good selection and the owner seems to know alot about his animals. He also is there alot.
