When I moved to Atlanta, there were many HiFi dealers but clearly one ruled them all: HiFi Buys. They simply had the most lust-worthy gear on offer in the ATL metro area. They were so successful that they had the coin to sponsor the preeminent large concert venue in the ATL area - Lakewood Amphitheater, aka HiFi Buys Amphitheater. Lakewood still sets the standard for the very best sound Ive heard in a large live concert venue. For some reason, HiFi Buys success waned and they fell from prominence and eventually went out of business. In the years that followed other high-end HiFi stores like Music Audio and Audio Forrest also closed, and only one store remained with the passion and experience to continue in HiFi buys vaunted tradition: Audio Alternatives. Alan and David have the intellectual curiosity and commitment to separate snake oil from truth. They listen tirelessly, and identify increasingly peerless brands that are, year after year, state of the art. Now their relentless pursuit of perfection has come full circle. Audio Alternatives is now HiFi Buys. Regardless of your budget, trust these experts with your HiFi life. They are so good that even though I now live in California, I would call them up and pay hourly for their consultation. If you are lucky enough to live in metro ATL, rejoice, and seek their sage advice.

In my search for some long overdue new stereo / HT speakers, it was a rare treat to walk through the doors of HiFi Buys. I was greeted warmly by the owner and was treated like a long time friend. The expertise and help from both Alan and staff member David White, was given without pretensions. My budget is not huge by any means, but that didnt deter them from giving me individualized attention and letting me hear a choice of speakers that could best serve my needs. If you are searching for speakers with distinction, chances are good HiFi Buys will have something to float your boat. In keeping with the old adage “Lifes too short to drink bad wine (or beer)” - my tweak to that would be: “Lifes to short listen to your favorite music through crappy speakers.” I just started this process of trying to get a short list of what speakers I like (often its a process of understanding what you dont like to narrow the field). I was duly impressed by a speaker from a company called Triad. Made in the USA, this speaker was in the showroom, but not listed on HifFis website, which is very good reason to go to the store - you may discover something quite pleasing and unexpected.

I worked proudly for the original HiFi Buys for 15 years and left a couple of years before the heartbreaking Tweeter buyout and subsequent failure. It was sad for many if us who loved the company but watched it crumble from the sidelines. Alan and crew are the real deal and the place feels like the old HiFi Buys. Theyre music lovers and truly know how to set up a music system, an almost lost art. They truly have the very best audio on all levels. From Audio Research, Vandersteen, NAD, Parasound, KEF, Magnepan (my brand) Peachtree Audio, Elac and thats just the tip. Its a great place to buy the best HiFi in any price range because they actually listen to systems that pass the "Is it truly musical" test. None of the guys are salesmen... but they are good teachers and consultants. As a former HiFi Buys employee and proud of the legacy, its great seeing Alan resurrect my old company in the most wonderful way. I cant recommend Alan and David more if youre looking for a high-end audio system. I went in there looking to purchase a system for my dad and both David and Alan were very accommodating. They were willing to listen to and cater to my needs and wants. Instead of trying to sell me on equipment, they tried to teach me about how everything worked so I could make an informed decision myself. I cant speak for the other reviewer that recommends Best Buy, but Alan and his team really know their stuff and recommend only the best brands that they can personally vouch for. If I ever need any more equipment, I will definitely be going back.

Just stopped in the check this store out. Wow...awesome gear all set up to demo. Even though I told them Im from out of town just looking they still insisted on a demo. Loved it...really nice guys tat care about audio and people. Ill be back probably to get something on my next business trip.

Not the best place to go if you care about receiving a positive customer experience. They will boot your car if you park in their lot whether or not you are going in the store. Management does not care about customer issue resolution either. Stick with Best Buy folks!
