Today, not many hardware stores have the people you need around to help you in every section. Every time I go into Mutual someone is there to help me find what I need or to help me tackle a problem in my very old home. Most stores don’t even carry what I need for my home anymore or want me to spend a fortune replacing everything instead of just repairing it. At Mutual returns are never a problem, I can bring my dog into the store, free popcorn all the time, and if I cant find exactly what I need they are always helpful to send me to a place where they know I can get it. I believe it’s a family run store and it’s been around for ages. It may be the longest lasting company left in Highland Park. I have also found that their rental center is generally the cheapest around. I do have to say though sometimes they have long lines at their cash registers, but over all I rate this place a 5 because its simply the best.

I started to do projects around the house. In the beginning, I started to finding out how to do things online. I would do my research, buy my needed materials, and be on my way. It was not until I rented equipment from their rental service (Mutual Rentals), that I realized I might need better advice. Clicking around the internet can only get so far. I am glad I did. Now, when I start my projects, I make sure to ask a Mutual Ace Hardware employee for help. I can get their trusted advice and make sure that I am purchasing the right product. I know that after talking with the employees there, I personally have changed many project plans for the better.

Everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. This Ace store has just about everything you could expect to find at a large big box hardware store. Staff is capable of helping find a solution to your problem or in lending advice on your weekend project. Expansive power tool rental selection as well as some smaller excavation equipment. Ive been a satisfied customer for over 15 years.

Old time hardware store loaded with stuff from hummingbird perches to benjamin moore. Several new sales/customer service people who dont know product, process or customer service. I experienced two new gals dishing out attitude and making faces at customers behind their backs.
