We just moved to Indianapolis and have two large breed puppies (we are crazy, I know haha). We took Hera our 5 month old Alaskan Malamute to get groomed for the first time after getting her. When I came to get here Holly, the groomer, had put two little pink bows in her hair and painted her nails, she was so cute and happy! Holly told me about her breed specifics and how we need to wait about 8 weeks before she is bathed again, and even gave me some tips on using wipes and "puppy perfume" to keep her smelling good, since she is an inside dog. A few days later we went back to pick up some dog food and made an appointment for Zeus, our 5 month old Husky/Akita mix. While in the groomers office, I asked where we could buy the cupcake spray that they used last time and she was SO nice and actually gave us a small bottle for free! I took Zeus in today for his bath and had Holly again. When I came to get him he had a brand new little football charm on his collar! I have always had such a great experience with the groomers! We love Holly and will for sure be requesting her forever :) Many times we have been in the store asking questions about food and other items as well. A younger man, who seems to be a manager maybe, is always willing to answer questions and helped us pick out great food for our dogs, Wellness brand for large breed. It has been great and they both are growing big and healthy! Thank you Petco for being the one stop place for us in our new home!!! Amanda and Simo

I agree with everyone saying it takes long inside the store to get assistants, on the plus side phone are quickly answered so now u know where everyone is at. Im just really upset with this store and paul the store manager. i called asking if certain colored one of his crested geckos were a female or a male he said there is no way of telling but im confused because i am a first time buyer and i read on the internet they have balls i even saw a picture of what a female looks like and what the balls look like which are a good enough size to see with the eyes of a person going blind, when i told him this he asked why does it matter whats the sex is, which i feel is innapropriate because its my money and if i care for the sex of an animal then thats what i want and not to waist my gas to go find out when i live 45min away and he can simply look i mean crap he did tell me he had crested geckos. I can understand if they cant promise a sex of an animal for whatever responsibilty they dont want but as their job of knowing and selling animals they should atleast know what kind of animal they are selling. Oh but they can PROMISE the sex of a freakin fish (betta) how weird is that. This store is trashy and Ghetto. Not to mention Petsmart has free vet visits with their animals u buy even though it cost just a couple more $s. .

i have uploaded photos on my profile page of the damage they have done to my dogs nose. this is the 2nd time ive had problems w/the grooming department. Just last time I was there to have my Lab groomed he came home w/knots on his head, the groomer did not offer a reason until I brought him back inside and they said his cage they had him in was too small so when he would bark he inadvertly jumped apparently hitting his head hard enough to cause 3 knots to appear. Recently as of Saturday July 23rd 2011 I took him to be groomed and again no one offered and explanation of why his nose was extremely swollen and extremely red, so i watched it for a couple of days and the swelling slowly started going down and event today he still has a knot on his nose and now theres a scab thats peeling where there is no fur!!!! before paid i again went back to the groomer to ask what happend to his nose and she gave me the same answer as last time his cage was small my dog has been crated since he was born and hes almost 3 and never in all the time in his crate @ home has he ever had any damage like he has now... please go to my profile page to see pictures of Kings nose!!!!!

I will not be returning to the groomers here. They used to do a wonderful job whenever I brought my dog in there, especially the gentleman groomer (not sure of his name), but I havent seen him in there the past couple times. The past two times Ive brought my dog in for a bath, ear clean, and nail trim, he has come home bleeding from them trimming his nails too short. Not only am I concerned about my dog being injured (not serious I know) but he then proceeds to bleed on my cars interior and my carpet at home. I let it slide the first time because I have trimmed his nails too short in the past and understand that it can happen, but two visits in a row? Im not going to take another chance. Also, it took me 3 attempts to even set up this appointment earlier this week over the phone because nobody would answer the calls. Rant over. I am very displeased with the service and care for my dog at the groomers here, so I will be taking my business elsewhere after nearly 3 years of good service that has recently declined.

I love the groomers there, especially Aaron. I have a big dog with very thick hair, and he loves to go there. I know they are very patient with everyones pet. He always looks great when I pick him up. The last time I took him when I went to pick him up he was laying next to the groomers while they were groomer other dogs. He is so content and calm when I take him tjere. The second he sees the door he walks straight to the grooming door ready to go in. He goes in happy every time as well as comes out happy, although I think sometimes he wants to stay a bit longer, so I know that shows me how much he loves everyone there, which just tells me how well they treat him and all the animals that go there....... I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THE STAFF FOR MAKING MY BABY SO COMFORTABLE AND HAPPY WHEN I BRING HIM IN THERE, YOU ARE ALL THE BEST, SO THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SO AWESOME WITH MY DOG AND I AM SURE THAT I AM SPEAKING FOR OTHERS THAT BRING THEIR PETS TO YOU AS WELL......

This is one of the better Petco stores Ive been to. The staff are excellent, and they even allowed my dog and another persons dog to play with each other in the Isles off leash, which is against the rules but when you have two dogs that are well-behaved and they see that and they make a Command Decision to go ahead and let it continue, it just goes to show that the management and staff are both on the same page and they work together to allow slight deviation and policy that provides an excellent atmosphere. I have seen great stores and I have seen piss-poor stores. And this is definitely a great store! Petco is a franchise so I am not going to comment on whether or not their deals are good because it doesnt matter. The deals are what they are, and it would be like that at every Petco that you can go to. When it comes to these cookie-cutter franchise stores, its all about the staff and the management.
