We take our dogs to the local Petsmart in Lafayette, for supplies. We had an incident when we left our pet at a kennel here in Lafayette (large & very advertised) that was also a vets. (large practice). We had just moved here, were away for a week, have 3 large dogs, never had problems with them. Mind you they (the vets office & kennel) had 5 emergency contact numbers. When I went to pick them up the receptionist got a funny look and went back & got the vet (who spoke broken english) and said the dogs (my dogs) got into a fight (not possible) and that they had to do SURGERY to stitch him up! In three places, no phone call, no warning....I filed a complaint with the Vet Association (useless) but, word of mouth works wonders. This happened three years ago, and I still talk to everyone I meet in any animal isle at any store and tell them the name of the "Practice & Kennel". I believe they let my dogs out with some other dog and that dog attacked my dog. They tried to make me pay for the "surgery". I told them to take me to court. I was shaking I was so mad - how dare they - we have had animals for 28 years of our marriage and NEVER, EVER had a problem, even when we had 5 dogs (all but 1 were over 100 pounds - one was 12 lbs). Needless to say we never paid, nor went back, plus, we found an excellent vet, where the dogs are "crated" during the evening but are out in runs all day long....They love the staff & the vet (ok - one of our dogs is a wuss and needs to be muzzled even to go thru the door! Hes only three and was a rescue - but the vet is so very very patient with him) Plus, hes a different dog when he knows hes going on vacation there. The vet lives next door and I feel so very comfortable leaving them there...the staff is excellent and very experienced with animals...No, no animal getting hurt while you are on vacation is acceptable. Sorry. We used to be able to get friends daughters to live in our house while we were gone, but they are all grown....I go away with no worries, plus the vet is THERE. I know this vet would call ASAP.

We take our puppy to classes at that location and the staff all know her by name after only a few short weeks! One weekend we had to take her to the doggy daycamp and petshotel for 2 days and 1 night and she seemed to do great! She is an extremely energetic puppy and was extremely tired when we got her home. That told me that we got our moneys worth and they actually did play with her for 8 hours like they say they would. I felt that was a much better alternative than boarding her somewhere where she would get out of her kennel only to potty and have mealtime. It was well worth the money and we now frequent this PetSmart location regularly-puppy along, of course. Every time we go back she greets all of the employees that worked during her weekend stay as well as her trainer with a wagging tail and much enthusiasm. I wont take her just anywhere, so, I did ask the staff straight out about the situation that happened with the other reviewer and her dogs injury. They never denied the issue and explained that they believe it happened during play time and could have occurred because it is an older dog. I dont know the whole story, but I do feel for the parents of that dog. It seems like really bad luck! They did assure me that they contacted the vet who cared for the dog and that the vet said there were no major injuries and that what injuries there were, were not a result of neglect or abuse, but more likely due to rough play. I feel with any pet, taking them to a place where there are other animals, is a risk you take that accidents might happen. I have met the staff on several accounts now and I do believe that they all sincerely care about animals and are passionate about their jobs. Im sorry that the dog got injured and I certainly hope that it doesnt happen again. All I can say is that I feel an incident like that can happen anywhere and is not a direct reflection on the staff at this PetSmart.

I took my Goldendoodle to this location and I WILL NOT BE TAKING HIM BACK. For the following reasons: 1. They gave him the absolute the worst cut my dog has ever had. 2. My dog plugs cut out on his legs, and clipper burn on his nose. 3. He was also VERY traumatized after we picked him up. He would not eat and was throwing up for three days. 4. The groomer plucked out his ear hairs and we noticed that after a day his hears looked really red and raw. When we took him to the vet (3 days after being groomed), we learned that he had infections in BOTH EARS. We have never had an issue with The PetSmart in Carmel. The Carmel PetSmart was booked and we were hoping we would get the same level of service. One sick/traumatized dog and a $200 vet bill later we realized we were wrong. We probably need to find someone that works independently.

Gosh I dont know where to begin. Went here on a Friday & was instructed that we needed to buy a certain size tank & supplies for the fish we wanted so we listened & purchased what the employee told us. Went back on Sunday & was told other employee was wrong & that they wouldnt sell us fish based on the size tank we bought... Female manager said I was too attractive to want fish anyway & that I should buy a dog? Then said even though they made a mistake they wouldnt do anything about it nor would they take the other equipment back? We simply wanted a couple Molly fish for our tank lol.. Then was told that if they did sell us fish they could not keep the 2 week guaranty on them right now? LOL WTF. We went to PetCo and they had no problem selling us our fish, who have lived happily ever after...

We have been taking our four pound chihuahua mix here for almost 5 years! WE ABSOLUTELY love this place! They give our dog extra care, he is never in his suite because they love him so much, he helps give the other dog their food and he does the singing trick we taught him for all the staff. He get so excited when we pull up, its a mad dash to go inside because he cannot wait for Doggie Day Camp, organic ice cream, and his gorgeous suite. We never have had an issue and we have been gone for weeks at a time! I highly recommend this place. Carmelites should stay in Carmel. I am sure that had something to do with the 2010 one star reviews because anyone I talk to LOVES this Petsmart, just like I do!

Horrible experience, look for ever to have somebody help me with questions I needed. Acted like it was an inconvenience to help move a shelf on to my cart and after spending over $200 acted like it was an inconvenience to put it into my car when we found out that it was a little bit too big for my vehicle we took it back inside and I waited another 10 minutes for someone to come help me put a sticky note on it with my name on it and my number so I can pick it up later on. The manager was extremely rude. How is a nice the entire time never complained about anything while I was there. Now Im debating on just returning the product because of their attitudes even though I got a good deal on it.
