Went in and fell absolutely in love with a tortoise we lovingly decided we had to have. This was our first real pet so we spent tons of time talking to the seemingly knowledgeable "turtle expert" and went on our way (after buying over $500 worth of turtle related items such as his habitat, lighting, food, etc.). We felt great about our purchase until about a month after when our once bright eyed, energetic (and often stubborn) tortoise became lethargic, antisocial and, no other way to word it, lazy. We were very concerned so we took him to a veterinarian in the local area (fantastic vets by the way) and they informed us that practically everything we had done up until now was wrong thanks to the great advice received at this Petco. They had informed us to purchase unneeded food items, the wrong type of UVB bulbs, told us the wrong temperatures to keep our poor tortoise AND even sold us the wrong kind of substrate to best suit our little guy! This was very upsetting to us, so we went back to exchange most of these incorrect items out. The staff was overall rude and seemed extremely rushed to push us back on our way. The items we needed were not in stock at their store, but they said theyd be happy to put our return amount on a gift card for us so we could make the purchases online. All is well, right? WRONG! We leave fairly satisfied with the outcome, though still a little upset about the overall situation and get home to make our purchase online and to our surprise, gift cards created from a returned item CANT BE USED TO BUY ITEMS ONLINE! (coming straight from their 877 "customer service" line). That being said, this gift card is a total waste, looks like we will be going to the nearest PetsMart to buy whatever else our tortoise needs. Maybe they have a better handle on how their store works and how to take care of their animals.

At this location, I came in to purchase meal worms for my Veiled Chameleon, and the worms were old and nasty. The gal who helped me was very polite, and offered to give me a discount, but I did not accept as they wouldnt be good for the Cham. She went to get me a coupon for a future visit, and I went to look over the reptiles. I As a reptile enthusiast and an owner of various species, I enjoy seeing the younglings (Mine are almost all grown up.) I came across the water dragon enclosure, which housed 2 baby Chinese Water Dragons. These are typically a bright green, active species. The two in the enclosure were both very dark (signs of being very cold.) Another issue was that the dragons nose rubbing scars and clefts. I asked the gal if I could see them and she let me hold them. The first had 3 necrotic toes due to calcium decency, typically caused by a lack of supplement or a no UVB lighting which is critical to this species. Other species are capable of surviving without this particular light, but not these little guys. They need the UVB and the Calcium supplements when in captivity.

Absolutely by far the worst pet store experience of my life. The staff was completely incompetent. They knew NOTHING about the cat adoption process. The most helpful person there was a volunteer. We were told the wrong information multiple times. After an application and several phone calls we were finally put in touch with the adoption agency who said we could not adopt a cat there because there was a possibility that at some point in the future our children could hurt the cat. If they have a policy of not adopting cats under 1 year old out to families they should have their discriminatory policies posted somewhere. This was an absolutely horrendous experience for my family and my child and we will never ever go back to that store or deal with that company. Hopefully they understand the incompetent, heartless, idiotic people they have working for them.

So I went in with some spare fast food change from my car to get rid of and was only going to get a few cans of cat food. When I went to pay I gave the clerk the change and she said I was a little short so I said I would like to put the rest on my card. She didnt say anything but looked at the reader like I should swipe so I assumed that she deducted the change. But nope, she just gave me my receipt and said "dont forget your change!!". I was thinking what the hell, did she not hear me or something?!? I dont know why she didnt do her job but thats the last time Im wasting my time with them.

If your looking to buy saltwater fish go somewhere else. Ive had good luck with their fish but they hate to help people looking to buy fish. They walk the other direction, dont make eye contact with you, walk past you hoping you dont ask them for help. So if you dont want to stand there looking like a fool or if you feel you shouldnt have to beg someone to do their JOB go somewhere else

Average petco. We went there on Monday 1/4/16 and they were STILL out of dog toys from Christmas. There were still some toys but not the ones my dog prefers. We were shopping for cat towers there which averaged $120. We ended up going to Costco and paying $79 for a 60" tall cat tower. I still like Petco though. I prefer them over Petsmart and Im a return customer.

I always trust the groomers at Petco . My dog always is well groomed and care for her he is in their care . I prefer Petco over Petsmart because Petsmart injured my dog .
