Drive across town and or go to ANY OTHER PET STORE. My wife went this Petco location to pick up a new collar with our barely 3 month old 5lb puppy. The sales associate was insistent that she not by a collar but a harness. My wife reiterated to the sales person multiple times that our puppy did not like harness and in general would simply like to be directed to collars. After roughly 15 minutes of coaxing by this individual my wife agreed to try one harness on the dog. The sales person put the harness on our puppy, and he was noticeably not happy. As she set him on the ground he shook and whimpered, and my wife stated that she was fine just purchasing a collar. The sales person then proceeded to grab a more expensive harness, and insisted on putting it on him. As this cycle continued our puppy started to squirm noticeably upset of the second harness that was being put on him. As my wife tried calm our dog down the sales person scolded my wife harshly in her best Caesar Millan impersonation. Stating that he (in reference to 3 MONTH OLD PUPPY) needed to get over his irrational fear. Once again putting him on the ground he shook even more than before. My wife reiterated that she did not want to place another harness on our dog. Ignoring this instruction the sales person attempted to place another harness on our 5lb 3 month old puppy. Our puppys response once again was a more violent squirm and starting feverishly trying to get away from the sales person. When asked to stop by my wife the sales person continued to attempt to place the harness again stating "we cant validate this behavior". As such our puppy attempted to nip the sales person. Their response was to MUZZLE a 3MONTH 5LB PUPPY.... AND STILL CONTINUE TO PUT THE HARNESS ON! When approaching the management on this behavior of the employee, they stated that nipping is a potential long term danger and we should work on modifying that behavior. Petco should modify this stores behavior.

They saved my cat! I brought my kitty in to go shopping with me. He is always good on a leash. I have never had any problems with him. Anyway, when we were leaving, he got spooked bolted away from me, dragging his leash behind me. I was a wreck, searching for him for almost an hour with no luck. Then I got a phone call from Petco, they had him! When he ran away from him he had a collar with his name and my phone number on it for situations like his, and a harness and a leash. When he was found by some people in the parking lot who brought him in to Petco, he had none of that on. So seriously if he had not been brought to Petco, I may have never seen him again since he lost his tag. But the woman at the register remembered Marble and remembered what I bought, so she looked me up and got my phone number because I have a rewards card and that is how we were reunited. For some reason, my cats claws were all worn down to bloody stumps. The woman who remembered him put some stuff on them to stop the bleeding and help them heal - which is so nice! Seriously, if she hadnt been observant and noticed him and remembered what I bought, I would have lost him forever. They even let me stay after closing so I could buy my kitty a new collar and tag and fixed me up with a cardboard cat carrier. They saved us! If anything, shop there because they have excellent employees.

Staff never greets you when you enter the building, and often seem to not know a lot about either their products, or pets in general. Some of the employees are helpful, but overall not so much. Prices here are a lot high than you would expect from a big chain like PetCo. I do like that they dont sell dogs or cats, but work with local animal shelter to help provide homes for homeless animals. Overall I would say that if you want a friendly staff that actually knows what they are talking about go to PetSmart. They have much better services (I would NEVER use the PetCo grooming salon), much more knowledgeable employees, and generally MUCH lower prices.

This Petco is the best place for exotic pets in town. They carry a great selection of aquatic animal, even allowing you to order and request specific fish from their distribution center. The staff is mostly knowledgeable, and quite friendly. I have managed to find many neat freshwater fish here that I have not found at Uncle Bills yet. They also carry a good variety of foods and accessories for pets, making this a good stop for a little browsing and picking up food for your critters. Prices are reasonable with good sales happening regularly. Until a a local hobbyist pet store opens in Bloomington, I will keep taking my business to Petco.

Went to get my dog groomed after getting a $5 off coupon. I really just wanted her nails trimmed, but since I had $5 off I figured Id just get the 7-point check. Well, we dropped her off (albeit ~10 minutes late) and 30 minutes later, we got a call that she was done. When I picked her up, she was damp (a damp Husky doesnt dry for quite some time and reeks of wet dog) and her nails werent trimmed at all. I unfortunately didnt notice the nails for a couple days. For $40, I expect a bit better grooming. It would have been nice if, instead of returning her in 30 minutes, they had taken their time to dry her and trim her nails.

We went to the store to grab a couple items 15 minutes before closing because we just adopted a new pup and the night employees were nothing but rude and unwelcoming. The employees rushed us to no end because they made it seem like the world was going to end if the doors werent locked right at 7. In our minds, a good business, would not close until every customer walks out the door on their terms and the employees would have welcoming attitudes. Although the store is very nice, organized and clean the night employees did not make it a great environment. It will be hard to return to the store, especially in the evening.

I have a cat and I pretty much have to go to an actual pet store to get her anything cooler than a scratching post and a squeaky toy (why are dog supplies so much more available??). I really like it. Awesome selection (for a cat anyway) and lots of toys and cat furniture. The employees Ive met always seem enthusiastic and love animals and Ive never seen anyone bored staring at a clock. If you have a cat, bird, fish, rabbit, guinea pig, rat, hamster, dog, or even bigger animals there is definitely something for you.

They are well stocked, but the prices are above average. The staff have sometimes been ready with negative comments if they see me buying something they wouldnt, but have never once actually greeted me or offered me help, and I resent that. I admire their youthful idealism and all, but itd be better if it extended to their treatment of the customers, too. Petsmart is a little better, but unless Im buying live animals, I prefer big box stores or online retailers.
