I live in Truckee & this store can be a true nightmare. Most any given summer, winter or holiday weekend its mind-numbingly crowded-- & many weekday evenings are bad, too. So frustrating to not be able to get in & out quickly-- especially if you just need a few items & Safeway knows the huge crowds are coming so why not staff accordingly. I also find many (many!) pricing errors when I pay close attention to my receipt & the prices are already high enough-- more expensive than other Safeways. I will say, the staff are very friendly & try their best-- they just need to think about customer convenience more.

Fantastic produce section, meat, deli and bakery. Customer service is not very good. Grumpy employees or they talk to much when it is busy. It is typically busy from 11 am - 9 pm monday - sunday Jan - Dec. It can be a chore to shop at this store. They run out of things constantly and are stocking shelves during the busiest times of day. Pharmacy is great - friendly, helpful and fast. Floral department is a mess and over priced. Most items are over priced by at least $2. We go here because it is convenient and we pay convenient prices.

Do you like lines and only 3 checkers? Well then, this will be your favorite safeway! Small aisles that are made smaller by displays. The only safe place to talk with your weary shopper friends was in front of the bakery, but now there is a mass of wine blocking the way. Sign. At least they took down the "3 is a crowd" signs. No candy free check out or fruit for the kids while shopping.

Five stars for Cindy and her crew in the Deli Department. I called her from across the country to order some fruit trays for an outdoor post-wedding picnic in Truckee. The fruit trays were beautiful and fresh. Cindy suggested the deli-made tortilla chips instead of buying chips and several people commented on how good they were. Cindy made it so easy to order and pick-up. Thank you!

Breakfast burrito I ordered a ham breakfast burrito this morning and they only put 1 and 1/2 pieces of ham on it. This ham was thin enough to see through when I asked if I could get any more. Then the lady making the burrito looked at me like I was inconveniencing her and said no. Im used to every other Safeway making a lot bigger and better burritos.

Decent selection and deli. However, its very cramped and crowded, worsened by management partially blocking aisles with extra displays to encourage impulse-buying but making it impossible for two shopping carts to pass. The bigger the vacation crowd expected, the more they do it. The express lines which used to be always open now seldom are.

The Truth

Supposed to be 24hour stone. They were closed when I got there at 10:30pm. Called the next morning at 5:30 phone ringgit 3 minutes then went back to the main selection menu. Tried customer service option again and it just hung up. Not that far to reno Walmart to avoid this unpredictable service.

The staff does great at restock and keeping items available, but when its busy... Its BUSY. Lines get long. The checkstands dont have a conveyor belt on the far end to keep things moving and there are not enough courtesy clerks during the day to be able to quickly bag all the groceries.

Hands down the worst grocery store. Since there are no words to adequately describe how bad this place is I encourage you to come see it for yourself. Dont shop here, just come in and look at this train wreck of an operation. Its litterally faster to drive to Reno and get groceries

Cindy the deli manager was very personable and helpful in choosing dishes over the phone and advising quantities for a large event which I was planning long distance. I spoke with her a number of times, we loved her choices and I will definitely call her again.

Your average Safeway. It has the essentials and usually the parking lot is cleared quickly after a snow storm. But when the power goes out the refrigerated and frozen stuff gets locked down tight!!! Found this out the hard way. Still very convenient.

The whole store has descended into horrible customer service the whole store is run by mean and obviously unhappy people. The spanish lady in the deli department is specifically rude and looks as though she wasnt potty trained properly

Nice Safeway with seasonal options as well. was there during Feb 2017 during the big snow and was a bit crowded but they had all the usual gluten free items that my local silicon Valley safeway carries.

This is one busy supermarket serving one busy area of Truckee and Incline Village . . . wall to wall folks and carts during this terrific ski season. Good selections in every department except cheese.

Pricey but you cant expect it otherwise given the location and tourist attraction. On a second visit I noticed one of the items was in sale that I purchased a day before. They gave it to me for free.

Excellent place to pick up food if youre staying around Truckee, especially as a visitor and youre renting a cabin. Huge variety of goods, just have patience as lines can be long.

Extremely wide selection of everything. Extensive collection of wines and spirits. They even have a section with gloves and other things you need for a day on the slopes

Am a Truckee local, so you shop on Mon-Thur during high season to avoid the crowds. Lots of pharmacy turnover. Service quality has really gone downhill.
