I had called and spoke to Heather about a Benelli shotgun. I specifically asked for a certain length barre since this shotgun was available with three different length barrels. The barrel length I asked for was 24". I had been put on a brief hold and Heather returned to the phone and said there was one in stock. I made the thirty minute drive to pick up my shotgun. When I arrived, I looked it over and even asked Heather if she was sure it was 24" because it looked kind of long. Heather had replied that she actually used a tape measure to verify. The remaining part of the transaction went very smoothly. When I got home I pulled the shotgun barrel out of the box and looked at it oddly again saying to myself that it looked longer than it should. When I went through the paperwork in the box I saw that the description with the serial number said 26". At this point I thought it was ok, Ill just call and let Heather know in the morning since it was after hours. I waited until 10AM to make the call and asked for Heather. I explained everything to her and she apologized and explained to me that they could give me half of what I had just paid for it less than 17 hours earlier. I explained that I didnt even take the shotgun out of the box or fire it for that matter and it didnt make sense because it was her mess up. She admitted to me that it was her fault and that there was nothing at all she could do. I paid good money for a brand new shotgun and they would not honor the mistake at all. The fact is that Heather either has no idea how to measure a shotgun barrel or read a tape measure. She had openly admitted to me that it was her mistake and I had to pay 50% of the cost of the shotgun to return it and get something else. I called Superior Pawn and Gun in Virginia Beach and explained everything to them. They not only gave me 80% of the money I paid for it but also gave me a veteran discount on the one I bought. I will never again go to Chesapeake Pawn and Gun. The staff in there might be better served selling books or video tapes, anything but firearms. ***UPDATE*** I received a phone call from the owner Jeff the following day. He was on a vacation with his family out of the country and made it a point to call me to apologize. He explained that he never gets to take a vacation and if he were in town his staff would have called him with the issue I presented. He proceeded to apologize and explain that he will not run a business in this fashion. Additionally, he offered to compensate me whatever amount of money I lost on the purchase. I was able to either go into any of his stores and receive store credit or simply go in take cash. I was out $150.00 total on the deal. I went into the Greenbrier store, told the manager my name and she immediately pulled $150.00 out of the register to hand me. She was also very apologetic about what had happened. To me this is the way to do business. Jeff is top class and I would not hesitate to do business with him or his staff. Thank you for an honest run business that isnt afraid to admit guilt and make it right.

My first time stopping into chesapeake pawn and gun, after seeing a few commercials and hearing some ads on the radio. I was blown away initially when i walked in. Was greatly nicely by one of the many beautiful knowledgeable ladies working today. A huge selection of firearms all in cases, that are well labeled which cut down on the normal scanning thru countless guns and trying to read thru glass what caliber of gun im looking at. Tags all have easy to read prices. My daughter who was with me as i came in intially planning to just to check the place out was offered crayons and coloring books to entertain her in a nice area with a couch and cartoons on a tv when we walked in by cheyenne (forgive me for the spelling if i butchered it). I proceeded to check out a few firearms and scan the store while waiting for a few friends to meet me there to discuss and check over a used firearm they had forsale. The staff was patient with my questions, crappy jokes, and prescense in general. I ended up walking out with a brand new firearm i was intrested in with a huge smile on my face and sold on for sure returning often to check out inventory. Highly rec the fine people and establishment to anyone in the market for firearms or the likes. -MC

First off, the only reason I gave them 5 stars is because I could not give them 10. I just completed my first gun transaction, and I cannot be happier with everything. Chesapeake Pawn and Gun was the only shop in Hampton Roads that had the handgun I wanted, and it was $40 cheaper than anything I could find online and that is not factoring in the FFL fees and shipping which would have been $40 more. Secondly, the selection of new and used guns was great in variety with great prices, but what was even better was the service. During my transaction, I made a mistake. I will spare you the details, but when I noticed the error I texted the shop and let them know. Very quickly I received a response, and it was from the owner Jeff. He went way out of his way to ensure I was totally happy with my purchase, and I cannot be happier with everything. He went way above the call to help me correct MY mistake. In the process, all of the employees at the shop were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. If you want to find a great local shop with great variety, great prices, and awesome people, shop Chesapeake Pawn and Gun! Support awesome local businesses and PEOPLE like this!

I spoke to Emily regarding a couple of products (firearms) I was looking for. Not being exactly sure what I was looking for didnt make her job any easier but she was extremely helpful and polite on the phone and was able to e-mail pictures I requested about a couple of products that sounded interesting before I drove to the store (I live about 30 minutes away and the gun was an older model so it was nice to get an idea what condition it was in before making the trip). She was very timely with the photos. The next day I was able to see the product in person and again Emily was very helpful showing me several different models until I found exactly what I was looking for. I was able to ask the resident gunsmith, Kurt, a couple of questions regarding some guns before purchase. Everyone was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was definitely worth the drive in terms of finding the right product at a good price, with friendly and professional service. I would definitely recommend Chesapeake Pawn and Gun highly.

while browsing their selection of new guns I found a Kel-Tec Sub2000 which I have been interested in for more than a year. When I asked if they could order one compatible with Sig P226 magazines, was told they are only compatible with Kel-Tec magazines (not correct). I pulled it up on Kel-Tecs website to show the various models they offer. She call another associate who claimed only the Glock and Beretta models are available but the Beretta model would accept Sig Saurer magazines. Why would I risk the reliability of either gun by modifying magazines. They have a decent selection of new and guns from revolvers to AR-15s. There were a couple other specific guns I was also interested in purchasing but the lack of knowledge about about the firearms they carry does not instill any trust.
