All of these positive reviews are fake and forced. Yes! They are. How would I know? Because after I purchased my cute little animal, the manager tried getting me to do a review in front of him. Obviously these reviews are going to be great when you have the manager standing over you and you dont want to seem rude... but let me just say... petland? Terrible. The worst. Coming from a background where I was raised with and cared for exotic animals, i should have known better. Truth be told, I came into petland, today, June 8, 2017 around 2-3 to just look around. I came across this cute little Sugar glider. All white and adorable. I knew he was coming home with me when I carried him. Just the cutest!!! But I should have known something was up when I asked where he came from and all they told me was Texas. Texas? Great! But what animal center in Texas? The little sugar glider had a patch of fur missing from his head. I asked about it and the manager told me "idk, he didnt have that yesterday." Already sketchy and the second red flag being thrown! But I thought "no big deal, Ive helped to rehabilitate animals so helping him grow his fur back wasnt going to be an issue. Third red flag was when he told me his corporate didnt allow them to have exotic animals so they had to sell the sugar glider soon... yet they had toucans .. which are exotic animals ? And if they didnt allow exotic animals then why did they have them? I dismissed the red flags, blame my hunger and pregnancy brain, and bought the little guy anyways. I went home and got curious about the little animal so I googled it and learned that my little animal, just like cats, can carry Toxoplasmosis which is a parasite that humans and pregnant women are able to get from animals. Toxoplasmosis is very dangerous for pregnant women hence why we are told to stay away from cats and cat litter. Once I learned this, I knew I couldnt keep him. As cute as he is and as much I was sold on him, mine and my unborn childs health was more important. I went back to petland and told the manager my situation. Instead of following through with a return for my wellbeing, he went to the back and printed out a paper of a comment that I read online before coming back to petland. He printed out a comment from a website I googled about owning sugar gliders while being pregnant that said I wasnt at high risk of contracting toxoplasmosis. I told him I knew about this comment and but he then proceeded to give me more excuses as to why he may not be able to do the return. One being the financing company I used to be able to take the little guy home. So I called them, told them my situation and they were more then happy to terminate the contract free at cost and had no problem with doing so, so long as petland did the return. After waited for hours and being ignored by the manager who claimed to be busy with customers yet had time to go outside and talk on his cell phone, I informed him of what they told me and he told me that he would have to speak with the store owner, yet he claimed to have already tried calling him but the owner "didnt answer". So I insisted they called again in front of me, they refused and wouldnt give me the owners busniess number. Lucky them, I ended up not feeling well while waiting for the manager to print out their return and exchange policy and ended up having to go to the hospital... how funny that while I was speaking to my doctor he informed me that cats and cat litter can contain Toxoplasmosis and that I needed to stay away from cats. I informed him of my situation with my little animal and he said toxoplasmosis is very dangerous in pregnant women and encouraged that I did return the little animal. The confirmation from the doctor reminded me that the manager at petland said the only possible way he would do the return is if I had a doctors note. Well, guess whos getting the doctors confirmation tonight? My opinion... dont shop here. This was my first time buying an animal from here, needless to say, their careless attitude made it the very last.

SIGHH.... There is plenty to say about this place. My family and I go there sometimes to play with the puppies, but I have noticed bad things about this place every visit. First of all, I noticed that they look like mill pups that are treated badly, from them looking dirty in theyre pens, to putting multiple pups in ONE CAGE! I am a HUGE animal lover, and this is a big no-no in my book. Also, one day I went in there in hopes of getting a dog that day. Prepared my house and all. But that didnt happen! The staff are just spoiled teens who honestly dont care about you getting a dog, or anything of the store in general! Other than getting paid. Some are great kids, but most are terrible staff. Anyways, my kids were looking at the dogs and there ended up being multiple that they wanted to play with. This would probably be bound to happen, since not only are they kids, but you have to find the right dog for you. We werent going to be unreasonable with the amount of dogs we wanted to play with, there were 4-5 pups they wanted to see. We saw 2 pups, and they werent the right ones for our family, so we wanted to play with another. But when we said that to the employee, she looked very annoyed and said that the store had a rule where we cant play with more than three pups. Keep in mind, I had been there multiple times and we have gotten to see more than three dogs and NEVER heard of this rule, so I was a little pissed but said that was fine. We ended up not finding the right dog, but while we were playing with the last dog, I overheard the girl talking about how customers shouldnt be making her go back and forth like that, and that made me pissed. WE are the customers, so if we would like to play with a dog, DO NOT go making up rules! Just go get the dog! The website didnt have any rule like this. I have decided not to come back. Poor care of puppies, store lies about the dog breeding, and poor customer service.

I left this place with a new puppy, happy as a clam. I do not regret buying my puppy because I love her. But, I would warn anyone looking to buy, to STAY AWAY. This place is EXTREMELY overpriced. All I found out about all of this when going through the paperwork, receipts, and making calls. I bought a dog for 4k when the dog is actually $1k to $1.5k. They say it includes all of these things amazing things when it actually does not (it comes with a new puppy package - food and vitamins etc) but they were listed on the receipt in addition to the price of the dog. They tell you registration to the AKC is included, it is not. It was an additional $117 on the receipt. Every thing they say is "included", is listed in addition to. They sold me a brush for $65. I looked the same brush up at another pet store and it is actually $20. The list of things of this nature goes on and on and on. They are over priced and I feel extremely taken advantage of. Francis was very nice, however I witnessed another member of the staff being very rude to others. They send you to a certain vet called vetfield. We went, and they told us our puppy was fine. Due to an unfortunate occurance, we were forces to take her to a 24 hour vet over night just to be safe (on the same day) and they informed us that she had a very bad respiratory infection...sketchy. Why would the pet stores recommendation say one thing, and another (unbiased) vet say another? Not to mention they make you write a review IN STORE while youre still on a new puppy high. This entire experience has put such a cloud over what should have been such a happy occasion. Will never purchase another puppy here, nor would I recommend this place to anyone, ever.
