LIARS!***Preying on Senior Citizens***LIARS! LIARS!***No ethics and absolutely no integrity***LIARS! August 11, 2016 We went to Toyota of Puyallup for/with my mother (a senior citizen) to ask about the Costco discount and if they were a participant. If youre not familiar, Costco offers a program where you get a massive discount off of the invoice price (what the dealer actually pays) and the MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) is ignored. We were greeted by Joe Luna (sales consultant). We were pleased when Joe said that they were in fact a part of the Costco program. Because of being a part of the program, we decided to move forward with Joe Luna and Toyota of Puyallup. Much later she found out that they lied and are not a part of the Costco Discount program. We asked upfront; we were told yes. We asked when she found a car she didnt like: we were told yes. We asked when we found the car she loved...this time we were told by Joe Luna that he would print out the cars invoice price so that way we could see the Costco savings for ourselves. We asked many times during the process. She asked the Sales Manager Mike Brown and he also confirmed being a part of the program. We asked so frequently, they were probably just as annoyed by us asking as you are reading about it. If we had learned upfront that they werent a part of the Costco program we would have left immediately and went to Toyota of Tacoma..... but we live in Puyallup so we tried here first. She got ripped off. She didnt get the discount obviously. As a matter of fact, she ended up paying $100 over the ticketed price!! They completely took advantage of a senior citizen by knowingly misleading her into the deal. It was an old fashion bait and switch sales technique. They exploited her kindness and trust. They must do this quite a bit because it was seamless. Questions were immediately answered with lies. Everything without question seemed legit. She was contacted by Toyota of Tacoma where she learned of the actual invoiced price and the actual discount that she would have received. She then called Mike Brown, at Toyota of Puyallup, who at first claimed to not be a part of the deal at all!!! When he was confronted and told that his signature was all over the paperwork at least a dozen times, he reluctantly confessed to being involved in it. The worst part (other than lying to get over $40,000 for a car sale) was he 100% backed up his dishonest salesperson. He completely denied ever saying anything about Costco. Saying if they had been asked about being "Costco authorized", they would have said straight out "NO". Terrible. After lots of arguing and pointing out that the contract clearly states "legal cause" as a reason to return the vehicle; they agreed to take the car back today. She will be buying from Toyota of Tacoma. Costco has been contacted and informed that Toyota of Puyallup is falsely representing Costcos program to get sales. BBB is being contacted about this. Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson is being contacted to report deceptive practices. AARP is being contacted to be informed that Toyota of Puyallup is using deceptive practices and preying on senior citizens. The Federal Trade Commission, AAA, The DOL, The Elks, the Eagles, Kiwanis International.....as many people as possible must be informed That Joseph Luna, Mike Brown and Toyota of Puyallup are preying on senior citizens and are just lying to customers in general.

My first time buying a new car and I purchased 2016 Toyota 4Runner on Memorial Day. As excited that I was to have this beautiful car I have to be honest the process of negotiation to purchase the car was not good at all. Was my dealer nice yes. But he wasnt attentive..and like to tell me how he had a very important costumer that he couldnt be late for as I was going to pick up my car on the agreed upon date and time. He made me feel like I was a second hand citizen! I am purchasing a brand new 2016 Toyota 4Runner and you dont have time for the first time car buyer..He was so "Busy" I never even test drove my car. Anyway all and all I love my car but the experience was less than desirable. I have to admit I wouldnt suggest first time female buyers to come here. As a first time buyer or buyer for that matter you as the costumer need to feel like you matter and your just as important especially when purchasing a brand new vehicle. My honest opinion! Three big issues I had. 1st on Memorial Day as I was negotiating with my dealer at one point he had the nerves to tell me hes been here since 8am. And he was tired ....I apologize to him and told him I am a nurse and I work 12-16 hr shifts so I understand long shifts but him being tired will not sway me in making a deal that I am uncomfortable with. 2nd He talked about some guy in Seattle that was his number one costumer. Well if he was attentive to me I could have not only become a retuning costumer but I would have been a good word of mouth to the other female nurses that I know that is looking for a SUV. 3rd.. the fact that it was late when we finished negotiating and my car hadnt gone through there service place to be checked.. I think is called a 20 point check or something. I never had a chance to test drive it so we agreed I would come back the next day around 2pm. But when I got there my dealer was in a rush to go to seattle for hes special costumer that he half assed my process and I never test drove my car. They didnt even put in my LoJack I purchased do to my dealer and hes lack of attentiveness to my process. Anyway I hate given bad reviews but this needed to be done so the next female that purchases a car from this dealership will hopefully have a better experience especially if is her first time as a new car owner. Once again I love my car and I guess in the end thats all that matters!

Simple as this: We found a car, offered our lowest price and they accepted right away. It was 10pm and they let us take the car home over night so we could have an independent inspection done on it the next day. MATT (the manager) said they wont fix every little detail but if there is an oil leak - they would repair that before we signed the paperwork. Guess what - there most certainly was an oil leak - amongst other things (brake light out, battery about to die, and power steering fluid leaking) Went back to the dealership - Our sales guy "Justin" went to talk to the manager. MATT was off that day..Justin spoke to the used car sales manager. Justin came back to us and said "Well take $400 off". No...thats not what we were told last night. No, we will not accept $400 off - fix the problem. Justin went back to the manager and the manager came out this time. He sat down with his arms crossed and said" Best we can do - $400 off the price". He DIDNT say - "Hey guys, really sorry that there was an issue that our mechanics missed. Well fix it up for you tomorrow and have it ready to drive home tomorrow night" Nope, the manager proceeded to tell us how they do not invest in their used cars because they would be spending too much money, he said we got an inspection from a shady company, he told us how long hes worked there, blah..blah..blah We reminded him that we were told LAST NIGHT by the manager (MATT) that any oil leak would be fixed. Our sales guy, Justin, said that he FORGOT to mention that to the used car sales manager. The manager said "Fine, well replace the valve covers and keep you at the original price that we agreed on" We said - we dont want you to just "replace the valve covers - we want you to fix the problem..like we were assured would be done, if there was a leak" End result, of a long argument back & forth, manager said "Ive had enough" and pushed our independent inspection back at us and walked away. Not only did they not "make the sale" but they lost customers - for life. Studies show that customers become loyal to their dealership..and in the age of social media..I cannot believe that they treated us like that. Now, we will not buy from them, our co-workers will not buy from them, our social media contacts will be wary of them - for what? The managers ego? The cost of "doing it right"?
