A few years ago, I was in the market for a new road bike. I rode several models at various shops in the DC area, and finally settled on a bike from Spokes, Etc. I was pleased with the test-ride process and the price on the bike, but had no idea how good the service would turn out to be. After purchasing the bike, I relocated to Silver Spring, MD, making Spokes a 40+ min drive away. As a consequence of this, I tried several other shops nearer to home, and simply didnt find any that measured up to my experience at Spokes. I still take my bike back for service, and recently had a very friendly and helpful technician go above-and-beyond to help me out. I went in on a nice-weather Sunday, fully expecting to leave my bike for several days to have its cassette and chain replaced (as well as an investigation of some rear-axle clunking). Instead, he replaced the parts on-the-spot, diagnosed the clunk (a missing washer between the hub and cassette; this washer had been omitted by another shop during a rebuild of the wheel), and had me back on the road in about fifteen minutes (on a super-busy day!). I have referred several friends to Spokes, and will continue to do so. They embody the spirit of excellent customer service. Thanks!

I bought my second bike from Spokes Etc (Vienna) this summer. Very shortly after getting home with it and putting it on my bike stand to install accessories, I noticed that the rear wheel was way out of round (it was bent and had been subjected to some strong force). Then that concern hit me, that they would think I did this. I returned the bike first thing the next morning, when Jeff Palmer (manager) greeted me and wondered what was up. After telling him what I found, he immediately took the bike back to the service area. After a few minutes he returned to me and told me that he told the head bike tech that he knew me and that felt that I really didnt damage my own brand new bike. They took a rear wheel off another Trek FX (a GREAT bike, I have to add) that was on the showroom floor, installed it on my bike, trued the wheels and made sure all was OK and returned the bike to me. Its been perfect ever since. I also had good experiences with Tyler & Floyd (fitters) and Sandy there (knowledgeable, patient, and never pushy).

New to the Vienna, VA and I was looking forward to finding a local bike shop that I could call home. Unfortunatelly, my experience with the service department at Spokes was absolutely disappointing. I brought my daily commuter bicycle in and after being told that it would cost me $230 to do a tune up, replace chain, cassette and brake pads, I agreed. When I called a few days later to check up on its status, I had a particularly frustrating conversation with a service department representative. Lets just say the conversation can be summed up with a quote from him, "Maybe if I wasnt answering phone calls, I could get work done on the bike." The next morning I called back to the store and talked to the same service rep and told him I didnt want them to do the work. And, as expected, no concern was expressed as to why I, the customer, wasnt happy. Well, the moral of the story is - Spokes Vienna will be getting 0 business from me and I wouldnt recommend Spokes service department to anyone.

As an older male returning to bicycling, I could not have found a more personable team of talent than that of Manager Jeff Palmer and his colleagues at the Vienna SpokesEtc. Through Jeff, Sandy, and salesman Tyler, I found a bike that matched my needs for fitness, finances, and abilities. They were patient, listened well, spent more time than I had expected in ensuring the bike fit me, and werent satisfied until I was. My purchases werent high ticket for them, but they could not have treated me better...an unrushed and exceptional experience. The entire experience demonstrated their focused and very welcome approach to customer service - so different from what is often found in 21st C. retail operations. I heartily recommend Jeff Palmer, deputy mgr. Sandy, and their team. BRAVO. Now if only it would stop snowing and raining a bit. Visit the Vienna shop.

I bought my road bike a few years ago from another local shop. After a year of bringing my bike in for adjustments to get my bike to shift correctly at the other shop, I finally brought it in to Spokes in Vienna. I chose them because I had bought my tri bike there last year as part of a team buy and had a great experience, so figured Id give them a shot. Turns out the front derailleur had a stress fracture and had bent out of shape. Not sure how the other shop could have missed this, but Spokes picked right up on it. Great to have my bike shifting perfectly again. To top it off, service was quick and I thought reasonably priced. Ill be going there for future work instead of my free adjustments at the other shop.. Id rather pay a few bucks and have it done right.

Went in to get maintenance on older bike - I have some experience maintaining bicycles, including more complicated repairs like bottom brackets, cones and head sets, but currently lack time, tools, and space to repair my bike. All I wanted was to replace cables, reset derailleurs, and true wheels - their advertised "deluxe tune-up" for $120. They refused to do any of these repairs - saying my bike needed more than $300 in repairs. The mechanic acted like I insulted him just asking to do the $120 in repairs and telling him Id take care of the rest myself. It appears theyre more apt to sell you a fancy new bike that costs over $1000 than work with people who know somewhat what they are doing with bikes. They will never get my business.

First time at this shop to support local business. I took my 5 and 7 years old kids with me because they want to buy a bicycle. First experience was good sales person helped us and my kids try their bicyles. 10 minutes later my son came and told me " they took the bicycle" i said thats fine they may need to show that bicycle to some other customers. My daugter was looking some accesories and other sales person came and told her " Dont touch anything " wooow what a rude person at that poind i got mad. I said lets go kids we are leaving. He did not even apologize from us. basically they lost big purchase because we are planing to buy 3 bicycles. Dont ever treat your customes like that specially kids. Thats very rude.

When I bought my Trek 2.1 last summer, the sales person filled me full of a bunch of lies. First, she said this bike only came in one color (because it was their last one in stock), I could only get it tuned up for free once in the first year of ownership (not true). I went back to get a better seat, and the staff was so indifferent about helping me figure out the best one. I called asking a technical seat change question, and the tech couldnt help me without seeing the bike (they sell this bike in their store). Not impressed. I have had good experiences dealing with Spokes in Fairfax. That would be my recommendation to you...
