I bought a new road bike from Towpath in April 2007. The bike came at a good price, and I have been completely happy with my purchase. However, the actual purchase was agonizing. After I had picked out the bike, it took over two hours to check out and finalize my purchase. Now, some of that time was spent shopping for accessories. This process was tedious, because there was only one staff member who knew anything about the products (the older fellow with the beard). The rest of the staff was completely helpless, even giving me "advice" which I know now to be completely incorrect. The bearded man seriously seemed like some sort of Boy Scout leader, because he had to answer every question I had, after the other staff members didnt know the answer. I actually walked out with free pedals after I got misinformation about what type of pedals were supposed to come with the bike. On a busy day, with only one person who knew anything, the going was slow. I took my bike back for its 30-day tune up, and mentioned two slight problems I had with it. Not only were these problems not corrected, one was even made worse (the stop screw for my front derailleur was loosened instead of tightened, causing me to flip my chain right off the first time I rode it). I dont know a lot about bikes, but this is a problem even I can fix! I would not trust my bike to the folks here for repair. The bearded guy also had this habit of talking to customers like they were 4 years old. He came across as condescending, and kind of creepy. I was getting sick of being talked down-to. In summary, if you know what you want and would like a nice store with reasonable prices, go to Towpath Bike. If you need any sort of customer service or repair, I would recommend trying RV&E in Fairport instead. Otherwise, be prepared to swallow your pride and your patience.

Yesterday I had a bike in poor condition(white Rockefeller). I went to Berts bike & fitness shop and asked them how much it would cost to fix my gear that wouldnt shift and front wheel switch. They said it would cost at-least 150$. I knew this price was unreasonable. I decided to go to Towpath and ask the same thing. The guy I spoke said around 15$. I was shocked by the price difference. I immediately said yes and took it to their service station. They looked at the bike and fixed it in under 20 minutes(my bike was in really poor condition). in the end, the total was 16$ and some tax. They had good customer service they are very knowledgeable about their products and I was extremely happy. I really appreciate what the staff did for me and I definitely recommend this place. I will be shopping here more often as I still need new brakes and grip tape.

From the ownership and management to the guys wrenching on bikes there isnt a bike shop within 300 miles that can hold a candle to Tow Path. We are a family of 5 adults with Roadies and Hybrids. Every experience with Tow Path exceeds expectation, They leave no doubt their number 1 priority is a satisfied customer. The sales team is very knowledgable and never pushy. They wont over sell you. They listen and educate. The service team is top notch and on more than one occasion, skipped lunch or stayed late to get us back on the road. How many businesses do you know that after getting all the details would advise you to buy a bike from another source because that was best for me! They treat customers like family. Dont take my word for it. Stop in and see for your self.

I can see why they only cater to people that know nothing about customer service and bicycles in general. I went in looking for a bike and they couldnt tell me anything about them without looking it up. It was also like I was inconveniencing them when I would ask a question. One question was.. what is the difference between the ultegra and the 105. They said one was more expensive. Honestly? I could have told you that and i dont mind paying the extra but WHY is it more expensive? I will never go there again and will have to travel to another bike shop but will get the service and knowledge I need.

I have purchased 6 bikes from Towpath in the past 2 years. I see the reviews here about the bad service. I can see where some of it comes from about service. Towpath is not a get you in and out cookie cutter shop. If you want to spend some time and talk to people who are passionate about bikes this is the place to go. The staff continuously goes above and beyond and gives me honest opinions about things I want to do to my fleet of bikes. They have also gone above and beyond to make sure that my family members are 100% happy with the bikes they have purchased.

Towpath’s service is *top notch*!!! The team at Towpath have come through for me on a number of occasions (sales, service, & product info). A HUGE thanks to Scott, Scott, & Brandon who recently went above and beyond to help me out with a not-so-straightforward service request. I was in a time crunch and needed some significant work done asap. They give me a thorough estimate up front. Emailed as soon as the work was complete. And delivered high quality service with a quick turnaround. They also happen to be pretty nice guys… Absolutely recommend!

Toe Path Bike is an awesome bike shop. The employees are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. My tire blew out on my ride today and I ended up walking to the bike shop making it there just as they were closing. I was planning on dropping it off and walking home since I did not have my wallet on me. They said not to worry about it they would fix me up so I could get home and I could settle the bill the next day. I appreciate their generosity and look forward to shopping there in the future. Thanks, Tim

My friend and I were coming up from Washington DC to do a triathlon in Geneva. As young professionals, we did not have nearly enough money to transport our bikes by plane or by ground. We called Towpath on a whim a mere 4 days before the tri and they hooked us up with the most amazing bikes (way better than my own!) and helped us to kick our friends butts in the biking portion! David the manager was incredibly helpful in setting up the bikes for us and making sure everything fit perfectly for the big day.

I was new to town 6 years ago and tried every local shop. I finally found Towpath bike and consider that my home for all things biking. Staff is great selection of bikes is very large. They go out of their way to match you up with someone who knows what your into as far as biking. I am a mountain biker not a road biker and they understand we all need some one who can help you for your specific needs. PS they give great discounts for local clubs and offer those who buy bikes 20% on accessories
