My experience at BHLDN Houston: We arrived at the store and sat down for the moment we had looked forward to since my little sister got engaged. We were asked to give the information about the wedding for a third time (after previously giving the info online and over the phone). My sister obliged and gave the information for a third time. She excitedly began to try on dresses and the ohhhs, ahhhs, and emotions began to flow. We noticed while she was trying on dresses that the Annabelle was never pulled for our appointment. Laurie’s attitude significantly shifted when we asked to see the Annabelle (the least expensive gown). I want to make sure I am very transparent here: MONEY WAS NOT THE ISSUE. When I asked about the Annabelle she scoffed, “the event dress, Annabelle!? No, that’s not here”. I was taken aback by the sheer rudeness of the person who was supposed to be helping style us for the most important moment in my sister’s life thus far. I double checked with my sister that she still wanted to try on the Annabelle in front of our stylist. When my sweet sister said yes she did, the stylist contemptuously replied, “THE BRIDESMAIDS DRESS?!”. For the rest of the appointment her attitude was disdainful, smug, and flat out VERY RUDE. Cloaked in shame, my sister finally got to try on the Annabelle dress. In a moment which could have been from the show Say Yes to the Dress, my sweet sister was flustered and upset. I understand the dress comes in many different colors and is also made available to be a bridesmaids dress. However, it is made in white and also styled as a wedding gown online. Suffice it to say, we have not given up on the dress. The gowns at BLHDN are gorgeous. I wanted to share the experience I had with our sales person, Laurie. I have a long standing history with Anthropologie and I hope this is an isolated incident. I also hope it serves teachable moment to someone who could have sold us the gown, the rehearsal dinner dress, the veil, and a mother of bride dress but instead chose to run us off based on her bad attitude and negative energy.

My daughter was so excited about her appointment at this store. For one year, she visited the website regularly, noting which dresses she loved. She lives in Denver but was in town for a half marathon. She was "fortunate" to get an appointment Sunday morning, 11:15. Her Dad and I accompanied her. What should have been a wonderful, pleasant memory for all three of us turned into a sad, confusing hour. Our specialist was nice but zero help. Her energy level was 0.5 out of 10 and she could have written the script for what NOT to say. My daughter is a size 4. She has an athletic build - not an hourglass figure. Every dress she tried on was cinched so tightly that it made her look overweight and out of shape. Then, when it was apparent the dresses looked awful, the specialist suggested she get Spanx and even a corset. Spanx and a corset for someone who is a size 4?!? If a size 4 cannot look beautiful in a wedding dress, what hope is there for the size 12 and 14s? My daughter tried on five dresses and none of them looked good because the specialist cinched them so tightly that they were hideous - even distorting the original design. Who does this? I told my daughter she did not have to buy her dress there, although we were completely prepared to do so. My daughter left in tears, my husband and I were very upset, and now I am one angry Mom. Note to specialists: not every Bride wants to look like she was dipped into her wedding dress. For others who dream of buying their wedding dress at BHLDN, trust yourself first. Do NOT let the specialist cinch you into something that fits their dream - not yours. Horrible, horrible experience. I told my daughter with time, we will laugh about this. It was that bad. I gave the store two stars because the store was attractive and the dog, a Brussels Griffin, was cute.

I cant imagine having a better wedding dress/bridal experience anywhere else! Ever. The short of it: -Exceptional service and no sales-pitchy pressure -BEAUTIFUL and unique dresses -Try dresses on in YOUR size -Dresses ship and come in within weeks versus 6-9 months! -Very affordable for the quality & especially compared to other bridal shops -They know how to make the process FUN and make you feel like a million bucks! The Longer Version: My first trip and introduction to BHLDN was as a bridesmaid accompanying the bride to try on dresses. I returned almost a year later as a bride and BHLDN was the first and only store I really cared to visit. I tried on several dresses and, as girls do, ended up liking one very different from the one that got me in the doors. I cant wait to wear it on my wedding day! Lindsay Netherton was so pleasant and wonderful - it felt like she was part of the bridal party. She kept everything fun and upbeat and offered some great styling tips at every turn. She asked lots of questions about the venue & style that helped us to think in terms of the overall ascetic of the wedding, and not get completely distracted by all the pretty dresses! I returned for a fitting and used the seamstress they recommend - she was also tons of fun and made me feel so comfortable. Great group of people, beautiful store, beautiful dresses . . . what more could you want? A macaron, you say? Theyll give you that too!

I visited the Houston shop with my two best friends and my mother. Of all the wedding shops, I was the most excited about trying on gowns at BHLDN. I checked the website almost daily for months checking out new styles and accessories. However, my experience at BHLDN was a big let down. The gowns were all dirty and beat up. The gown stylist were all young, inexperienced and couldnt care less if I liked a gown or not. All the gowns were either too large or too small and the stylist couldnt figure out how to clasp the gowns so I could see how they would fit in my size. When I did like a gown, she didnt show options for hair pieces or accessories. We were offered water and champagne, but they never gave us our beverages. When I was finished trying on gowns, we looked for bridesmaid dresses. When we were trying on the dresses, we asked for our beverages for the second time, but were told we werent allowed to have them since we didnt have an appointment. We just had an appointment but left our designated fitting room. Needless to say, the customer service was awful.

First off, I will say I have never actually been to this store as I live in Philly. I had been stalking the Elisa gown online for weeks and when it went on sale, with only one size 0 left, I decided I needed to purchase it. I went through the checkout process just to find it had sold already. I called the store in Georgetown. No luck. I must have called a few times and I was told Id be called back but never received that. I ended up calling Houston. I am kicking myself for not remembering her name, but a very sweet woman helped me on the phone. She searched the store and was able to find a sample of the dress I wanted! She warned that there was some wear on the sleeves. She spoke to her manager and I got the dress at a steep discount. They even mailed it out to me. It was not in the size I was originally going to order, this was a 2. But it ended up fitting perfectly and the flaws from in being a sample are not even noticeable. I am so happy with their customer service!
