Today I purchased a pair of running shoes at the Preston Rd. Academy in Frisco. When I got to the register, I discovered that the shoes were $30 more than I thought marked on the shelf. I took the shoes back and double checked. The store had surrounded the sale shoe I had chosen with a shoe almost identical to the sale shoe, even down to the last 3 numbers on the inventory code. The more expensive shoe was 2 displays away but was stocked surrounding the sale item. The only difference in the shoe was the shape of the sole and the shoestring color. I purchased the shoes, but asked to speak to the manager. The young man who approached me was more like a stock boy than a manager. I explained what had happened as I signed for the purchase. The young man actually smirked at me, working hard to hold back a laugh at my discovery. I stated that I thought the stocking the more expensive shoe around the sale shoe, of which there was only 1, was deceptive. Deceptive means cheating. Cheating the customer is an unfair practice. Again he fought to hold back his laugh. His response was, "I know marketing rules, and if it is within 4 feet, we can do that." WRONG ANSWER! What did I expect? I would expect an employee of mine to first apologize for the misconception and ask to see the display. He should have said, "If we have intentionally or unintentionally mislead the customers we need to fix it. We can do better. We dont have to cheat to sell our merchandise." Thats what I would expect. I didnt ask for a refund, nor did I ask for anything at all, but to make him aware of the issue. Customers of Academy deserve much better than what I received today. I certainly hope that the next time this young man complains about something to a manger in another store that he is afforded a much, much better, more understanding and professional manager that he was to me today. I have been a longtime shopper at Academy and will continue to shop at Academy, but not at the Preston Road Academy in Frisco. Shame on you, Preston Road Academy in Frisco. Shame on you.

No bike service department and the staff will NOT work on a bike that is not purchased at Academy. Limited selection of tires and tubes. Staff is not knowledgeable and gives incorrect information. Staff rings up items incorrectly. Store unwilling to accept competitors coupons (not a huge deal, but still disappointing). Displays are disorganized, improperly labeled, and offer blatant false advertising. For example, an entire three-tier circular rack of womens Nike shorts was labeled on sale at $21.99, for those marked $26.99. None of the shorts had $26.99 on them. After checking out, it was learned that the proper price had "not downloaded," so the cashier manually adjusted them. Only one particular style in the entire three-tier circular rack was on sale, despite the large sign over the entire display. Staff and managers are unwilling to offer discounts to clearly frustrated customers who have been trying to check-out for 20 minutes (the first go around was 5 minutes, then having to get back in line and deal with customer service, wait on a manager, and go through items one-by-one took an additional 15 minutes). Add-in an impatient 3-year-old and you have a disaster. After much discussion, a 10% discount was allowed on one 14.99 item (not the most expensive item, which was 21.99). Staff and manager Armando knew I was unhappy and would not be returning, yet there was no attempt on their part to make it up to me, or redeem themselves. I will NOT go back to this store, or any of the other Academy stores. I will make sure all of my friends and family know of this stores poor customer service, incorrectly-labeled displays, and lack of product offerings.

I hate to rate this location at three stars because all department associates have always been friendly and willing to take their time to offer their personal input on what I am shopping for. Most notably the staff in the outdoor/firearm department have been exceptional. But, recently I has seemed it is completely different at the front end. The past five times I have been to this store the cashiers were not friendly whatsoever and they seemed like they could care less to be there. On a couple of occasions the greeter/asset protection individual gave off the same impression. As someone who has many years of experience in retail the last employee one has contact with in the store is the impression that is left on the customer. In this case, it has been poor.

Not too much staff around to help. The customer service was not clear about not honoring previous weeks sale for exchange. If you take the stuff back for exchange due to defects, and the price had gone up, they make you pay the price difference. I would have just asked for refund instead of wasting my time looking for another pair of shoes that fit me if I would have known that I had to pay for the price difference.

Everytime i go to exchange an item theres always some new polices that prevents them from doing a simple exchange not unless i want to re-buy the item Im exchanging at a discounted price lol and then they have an attitude on top of ALL of that. They act like Im asking them for my money back or for credit or different item and to be honest this is the. ONLY location that i have drama with.

Been there twice trying to buy workout equipment. Prices not clearly labeled and multiple staff members standing around and walking past without offering help. Had to seek out staff for help on multiple occasions and they acted inconvenienced by us. Ended up leaving and purchasing our elliptical and other equipment elsewhere.

Associates are pretty useless and rude. They made me feel like they were doing me a big favor answering my questions. At the checkout, the associate asked me rudely to put my shopping basket at the front before I exit the store. Thank you, I am taking my and my companys business to a place that can treat me decently.

They had a million workers on duty, but they were all in bunches talking about how the managers were hooking up with employees rather than helping me/others find what i/we needed. Then, there was only one check out person in the whole store with a backed up line... this store is terrible

Very bad customer service. Very rude. When I came in this morning the lady who checked me out was extremely rude she did not greet me and as she was ringing up the items she had an attitude. She was just throwing my items in the bag and almost scratched up the shoes I bought.

This location has a real hard time keeping popular fishing lures in stock. Empty pegs all over the place. I avoid this location and stop by if Im already in the area. The Plano and Lewisville locations have a much better selection and more items in stock.

A gift card got my shopping here on a regular basis. They pretty much have anything you need in the way of sporting goods. I found the the staff helpful and friendly at both locations in Collin county where I have purchased numerous items.

The color tent I wanted was on bottom if the stack they went to the back to get it. Carried it to check out. They tried to carry it to my car, but I needed to make sure I could do it myself as I am an Independent Single Female.
