The staff here are friendly, but not pushy. If you want something, ask for it. Theyre extremely helpful. We visited the archery dept, looking for a new recurve bow string and archery target. We waited for a few minutes with another customer before noticing the sign that the dept didnt open for another hour. They actually called their bow guy (Brad, I believe) and he was kind enough to come to work outside of normal hours just to help us. That really surprised me. They had plenty of targets to choose from, priced at or below Academys pricing, which was surprising. They didnt have recurve strings in-store (they do replace compound strings), but the gentlemen helping us were knowledgeable enough to tell us that recurve strings can stretch over time, showed us where on a bow the string type is usually labeled, and offered to order a new string for us, in addition to other options if we didnt want that. Since we forgot to bring the bow we just bought the target and went on our way. In comparison, Academy on Arbrook also didnt have any bow strings at all, and couldnt order them, and ignored us while we hunted. You can bet well be coming back to Gander Mtn. Note: This review is really just for the Archery dept since we didnt spend time in the rest of the store.

On the advise of a friend I drove from Irving to your store to purchase a Sig Sauer I found online that was instock in this location. I walked in at 9:28 as I made my way to the firearms one employee said hello. I walked to the holsters as I did not see anyone at the counter. After a few minutes I walked to the counter to review the firearms. I walked the length of the counter and then back to the Sigs. I found the model I wanted, still no one approached me. I saw an employee at the shooting accessories isle and I walked over. He walked away without even looking at me. I walked back to the counter again and walked the length of the counter. After spending 15 minutes in your store without any employee assisting me I walked to the front as I was leaving without any purchase the cashier told me to have a good day. I said I would have if an employee had helped me and sold me the firearm I wanted. She said I will tell a manager and I replied; thats ok I will go to Bass Pro in Grapevine. I did and before making it to the counter 3 employees asked if they could help me. I did not find the Sig but i did find a Beretta for a hundred dollars more. Tomorrow I will tell all of my friends about the poor service and ask them to never shop at Gander Mountain again.

by far the worse experience I had purchasing from a sporting goods store. With all the marketing hype online with the pop-ups and radio commercials, I thought Id give them a try. I made a purchase online for a combo rod/reel and decide to pick-up in store at the Arlington location. I called the store before I drove there to make sure my order was ready for pick-up, which the sales rep assured me was ready for pick-up. Upon arriving, they could not locate my order, even with the order confirmation I had printed out, from their website. They advised me to just purchase it again and then call customer service to cancel the online order, because they could not cancel an online order in-store. I did not like the idea of paying twice for an item, but decide to do just that. When I got home, I called customer service to cancel and they in turn told me that they could not cancel it over the phone and that I needed to go in-store. I dont have much more to say them "STAY AWAY," from this place if you dont like the run-around and poor customer service. The staff are very poorly trained, I feel really bad for the stake-holders.

Worst Gander Mountain and customer service EVER! Visiting Texas from Florida, and decided to go in the Gander Mountain. We found some electric knife sharpeners and was told by the associate customer service could help us with prices. And went to customer service where someone was helping us, and another cashier told the customer service representative to NOT help us we could go around and wait in line-( only 3ppl in line) just to get a price. She took her customers and then went to help us again. And we waited 20min when no one was in line the cashier still told the customer service agent not to take us. We asked for a manager and Janet came walking by and said if you want a price check you dont go to customer service, she was nasty and wouldnt get us a price check. She refused to get a manager. Said she was a manager and she was NASTY. I am so disappointed in Gander Mountain. And the kind of staff that works there. Joanne was nice. And a guy said I can take you over here. Overpriced before liquidation, overpriced during liquidation, presumably closed very soon. If you are the type who really enjoys paying too much for camping gear you will have to find a new spot as Gander Mountain in Arlington is closing soon. Good news is that the Fort Worth store was on the list of stores remaining open so you wont have to use much gas driving there to overpay for outdoor goods. Typical Visit to Gander Mountain: I went to the liquidation sale and noticed that guns were discounted 5%. This meant they were selling guns for an entire 5% off MSRP. If you have ever priced a single firearm at any point in your life you will realize that this is a terrible "discount". While there I overheard an employee making disparaging remarks about the companys management practices and the landlord for the shopping center. I left without buying anything. I did see a couple of guys loading up shopping carts with fishing supplies marked down a generous 10% so I guess not everyone was as underwhelmed as me.

I have been looking at purchasing a sidearm for a few months, Came in to get some info on one that was only available online, but did not purchase it because I really wanted to hold it before I bought it. The you man at the counter informed me that if I purchased it and it was not what I wanted he would refund me as long as I didnt take it out of the store. I wound up buying the pistol while I was out of town, because I found it in stok and on sale at a different store. But when I went back to this store to buy some accessories for it, he was just as happy as I was that I was able to get the one I wanted. All of the guys at the gun counter are always very professional and have a vast amount of knowledge. Thanks for finally giving me an option to Academy.

I was in on Sunday and looked at some guns. The staff was helpful and informed me that if I came back the next day, they were having a 10% off special for veterans on Memorial Day. They even held a pistol back for me. I came back the next day and purchased a rifle and pistol. The prices seemed on par with the other big retailers and higher than some of the mail order suppliers. After considering FFL fees, it seemed like a wash so I made the purchase. I found a good deal on ammo and accessories and the extra 10% was great. I will be back in the future. The only reason that I didnt give 5 stars was that, like others have mentioned, the wait at the gun counter was longer than it should have been.
