Horrible experience. Have had 3 instances with them resulting in dead animals, sometimes before Ive even reached home. I have fish, both fresh and saltwater. I have had issues with both. I will say that Ive dealt directly with their District Manager, as well as the store manager, which was a pleasant experience (for the most part, the manager didnt notify the worker about my coming in for a refund so it was like pulling teeth to get my issues corrected). My saltwater tank has at least $1.2k thats been put into this year. The issues of dead or unhealthy fish could have crashed my tank, multiple times and Im just not okay with that. Even inside of the stores, you can see plenty of dead fish inside the tank with the other fish. They dont try to take them out or anything, which of course is going to raise the ammonia level poisionging the other fish. Ive also received dead and/or dying snails. The last time that I went in for some snails, it took the young man nearly 5 min to find "some that arent dead". Well one of the ones that he packed did end up being dead. Ive never had an issue with any male bettas, and I think thats because they are kept separate. They arent kept in tropical temperatures (as they should be), but they arent left in congested tanks either. When you receive them they are a bit groggy and slow, but once in the proper set up, theyve always done me just fine and have survived for years. Its the ones that are kept together in poisons tanks that is the issue. I wouldnt recommend buying ANY fish/ invertebrates/ Corals from this location. Their corals are washed out as well. Keeping fish isnt that hard but yet they seem to have a major issue. Ive also read that their water "testing" is with paper strips, which is highly inaccurate and not used by those who are truly in the hobby. Management can do damage control, but after multiple infractions, Im inclined to think this is simply that way the store is.

I purchased a female chinchilla three weeks ago on 3/13/2011. I was told she was about 5-6 months old. I brought her home to live with my other chinchilla (a female) and they got along well. On April 1st I got an awful surprise when she had babies (2). Not only must she have been far older than I had been told (they dont reach maturity until 6-8 months and are weaned at 2 months, gestation is 111 days) but she was three months pregnant when I got her! She then attacked my other chinchilla because she didnt want her in the cage with her kits, nearly killing her and costing 365$ in vet bills that night alone (she will need return visits). The poor thing is traumatized. I just got up in the morning, went to check on them and found that huge mess! Ive called the store and they said they would take the kits when they were weaned and adopt them out, but I dont feel safe giving kits to a company that sold a pregnant chinchilla as a baby. The whole pregnancy is going to end up costing well over 500$ between vet bills and the new cage Im going to have to buy so my injured chin doesnt get mauled again (not from any petco). Im really quite disappointed that such a major company cant even keep appropriate records on their animals. It tried calling the company customer service number 15 times and have not yet gotten someone to pick up. Once before when I tried to buy a fish from their store I couldnt find someone to help for over half an hour and when I did they were surly and a bit rude. Im not normally one to complain, but the 500$ this mess is going to cost me is too much. The company finally emailed me back trying to tell me that she probably became pregnant while still with her mother, but since theyre weaned at 2 months thats fairly impossible. They didnt even apologize. I wish I could give this zero stars.

I bought 5 fish at petco on February 3rd 2017, when the employee was putting the fish in the bag for me to take home they handled the fish so terrible. Hitting the net against the tank, etc. as I went to go pay for them, my fish were already dead , they replaced them, but when I brought them home 2 more of them died. I bought them back to petco the next day (February 4th 2017) because I was told if I brought the fish back with a receipt I could get new ones because there is a 30 day warranty . They told me I could not get new fish because I did not bring a water sample. I was extremely pissed off because there has been several times where I have gone to pet co and they have had dead rats and not even to mention dead fish EVERYWHERE. I told them to keep the dead fish, and I would go somewhere else and buy more because I will never come here again. I am a huge animal lover and do not agree with the way they handle these animals. I suggest not to go there. I also bought a $25 dollar coat for my dog.. I put the coat on my dog for the first time and the whole coat snapped causing my dogs leash to not be attached anymore and my dog was off her leash. Thankfully I was able to return it. And thankfully my dog doesnt take off. But there products suck! You do not get your moneys worth !! Very upset customer and they have just lost a customer.!

The older lady that works in grooming is losing money for your company! She is rude and completely unpersonable. Walked in today asked if she could cut my dogs nails real quick before her next appointment. She goes you dont have an appointment so no. I tell her how good my dog is and how it takes two minutes to cut her nails, she doesnt even have to put her on a table the girls typically do it on the floor. Still no. I understand I didnt have an appointment but it takes two minutes. After her rudeness I will gladly take my money elsewhere with all three of my dogs. Your loss not mine.

I came into the store tonight looking for an item that I saw on their website . I asked the sales associate Kali if she would help me locate The item that I saw on their website . I had a couple questions about the item and she was very knowledgeable and helping me choose which one was best for both my dog and cat. The customer service here is always amazing

I bought a "cinnamon" ball python from them only to find out a week later it was really a pastel ball python i went back to further look at their snakes and sure enough the cinnamons were in the pastel cage not to mention half the snakes there looked really untalented care of chunks of shed still on them skinny and really wrinkly skin just not how that should be kept
