My buddy told me about this guy and how he was treated so I went there with him and you can see from the very beginning his state of mind he didnt want us there. He rudely asked for our FOID card and ID then said oh I need a Drivers License not an ID . I and my buddy gave him every piece of ID we had . He through the ID back on the counter . I ask to see the some of the firearms and he said come on and I went in the wrong direction were the glass counters were behind him and he hollered out this Aint no F%#@ Chucks . He proceeded to show us to the 5 firearms in a room with a cage door and then started talking to us about this is a real F#%$ Gun store. I told him he didnt have to yell and what made this a real gun store. I told him I had never been to chucks. He proceeded to get loud and try to talk to me as I was a kid. I knew it was best to leave so me and my friend left I told him he was a racist , his action only show this. One thing I love is Great Customer Service, sometimes you may pay a little more for what you want because of the Great Customer Service you receive . This old man had none and he was more than a grumpy old man . We were legal citizen with the proper identification but we were treat like criminals for being Black Americans in his establishment. Oh by the way he was an old white guy. We also went to a store in Lansing named Pelchers Shooters with a all white staff and we were treated like any other law abiding citizen of America with Great Customer Service.

I entered this shop to look around and see what it was about as I have driven by for years. Upon entering the old man that works there (presumably the owner) started yelling and asking what I was doing there. He said we do not take credit cards, we only want cash, all items are sold as-is, you can purchase only one box of ammo if you buy a gun and the prices are what they are. Then he said again...what do you want?? I explained that I wanted to look around and he NO...you need to know what you are doing here. He continued to say if I wanted to look around go to Cabellas. I told him not to worry, I was leaving. He proceeded to tell me to get out of the store. I assured him it was not a problem and left. Quite frankly I am shocked that a person that owns ANY business can act this way. However, it is even more shocking that a person in the business of selling firearms would act that way towards another enthusiast. However, it seems abundantly clear to me that he is not an enthusiast....he is just a grouch, sad old man. I would never give this place a second look or spend one penny of my hard earned money here. I would encourage all others to go elsewhere as this type of behavior and attitude should not be rewarded.

I spent two days at this range. On my first day the very knowledgeable tall Irish gentlemen with the Santa Claus beard was amazing and patient. He spent time with me giving me info about the range and how to save money on purchasing ammo. Before I left he took me over to the other side to look at more guns and info on whats a good rifle for ladies. I was able to examine everything that I wanted to touch and he gave me great info on the use and handling of each gun or rifle. I spoke to him also about learning some more shooting and he referred me to a awesome lady name Michelle. I met her before leaving and schedule a private class with her for the next day. I cant say enough about this lady, her knowledge, the way she taught me and her basic common sense teaching was amazing!!!! I urge everyone who reads this review to please please before and after your ccw or non experience to the most experience........spend at least one private session with Michelle.....you will be amazed at this lady !!!! I love this place!!!!

(copied from my review on Yahoo) I suppose everyone has different experiences, but I have to disagree with the negative reviews. I went to use the range for the first time a couple weeks ago and the old man there couldnt have been nicer (and the dog is friendly). Its cheap ($15) and well lit. The range is a bit dated- but its a gun range, not a 5 star restaurant! Five shooting lanes (middle three are 30 min shooting distance). The only thing I dont like is that the end lanes on either side are 50 minimum distance (not sure why). But, the middle lanes were open for me, so it didnt matter. Not much of a handgun selection for sale, but for target practice at the range, its perfect. To recap: Cheap range - $15 Close location (as there arent more choices in the area) They close kinda early (on certain days). Call to find out. Ive only been to one other range - Mega Sports in Plainfield. Much more updated range, but its $25 and a bit of a drive. I recommend either one.

I heard many bad reviews about this place but decided to check it out for myself and make my own decision. Lets see... 1. I was greeted nicely at the door 2. The guy at the counter was very nice and answered all my dumb newbie questions 3. All the eye and ear protection is free to use 4. They did not give me any grief for not buying their amo 5. After I was done shooting, they took the time to show me a bunch of guns knowing I was not going to buy anything that day Conclusion: I would have given them a 5 star if the range was a little bigger. It felt a bit crowded in there at one point. As for them being racist?...not a chance! When I was there, it was a good mix of people and as far as I could tell, the guy treated everyone very nice and tried to help everyone who came in the door. I have already recommended this place to more of my friends.

I dont know what relationship the 5 star reviews are to the old man in this shop. They must be close friends/relatives or fellow good ole boys. When I walked in amongst the big german shepards (that was somewhat intimidating in and of itself) and tried to introduce myself (I didnt know anything about the incident back in 98) you could easily tell that he clearly did not want to know my name. You could see and feel the attitude coming on. Im new this too. This is not the place to get mentored let alone spend your $. Asking if I can be set up to use the range, get set up for gun classes, he tosses a business card of a woman saying something like, Here, go see her! Well, that did it for me. May God help him, that place and God Bless the United States of America!

Well I walked in to ask how much a transfer was, and was told 75.00, wouldnt even let me look at the guns he had for sale, I explained I had applied for my FOID card 3 weeks ago, and that i wanted to check his prices and ask a question. Mind you I am not some ghetto brother off the street, I am a white male 38 years of age. I guess he just felt like exerting his dominance. Be careful of the 120 pound shepard that looks like hes going to attack, seriously 120 pounds. Bottom line I had some questions for him and he didnt even give me the time of day, and there was no one else in the store he was helping! Needless to say I will never give this old man any of my business. 75.00 for a transfer?? are you KIDDING ME LOL. buyer beware. poor poor poor
