I just want to give kudos to this store and the staff, especially the bakery. I have shopped here a few times and found their prices to be very reasonable after the Kroger discounts are applied. I can literally fill my cart completely and with very healthy, sometimes organic stuff and spend less than 200$. For a family of 5 , and a 2 week supply food, this is fantastic. I am on food stamps and trying to eat healthier so this is just great for me, I am truly blessed every time I shop here. The produce is better than competitors, the selection is better, the prices are better. I am always amazed by how much food I can get here to feed a house full of people. The only thing I feel needs improvement is the meat prices, I have to go elsewhere to buy that. But at 150-180$ for the rest, I just spend the extra 20$ on meat elsewhere and that way my stamps stretch all month. Its worth it. The cashiers are always very friendly too. I want to tell everyone about the birthday cake I ordered my son last week. I ordered it online mid week and I was so excited because I have never bought a fancy birthday cake before, I have always made them at home. This year I have some health problems, and I heard they are supposed to take food stamps so I ordered my son a very nice cake. Well, when my husband called the bakery, they told him that they never got the online order for the cake and they have problems with their computer system. They offered to make the cake right away but my husband said no thats OK, the birthday was the next day anyway . So the next day, it was flooding real bad and we had to go through all this high water to get the cake, and as I was walking to the counter I was just praying to God, please let them take my lonestar card, because I dont have any money. The lady at the bakery said its no charge for the cake, since they didnt have it ready on time. All I could do is thank her before I turned around and just busted into tears for this kind of thing they did for us. Because thats the kind of country I grew up in, where people were kind to each other and loved one another, no matter what color or gender or political party we belong to. Where people cared about their business and did right by each other. Any other store wouldve charged me for that cake and not gave a crap that they messed up the order. I want to thank Kroger from the bottom of my heart for being kind , bringing me back 30 years to simpler times. I will shop here for life and recommend this store to everyone. My son really loved his cake too!!!! It was delicious! Thank you!!!

We love this Kroger. They have such a wide selection of organic items which is great because we can usually buy them on a deal and know were eating good and for a good price! The customer service is hit and miss, unfortunately, with some people going out of their way to assist and others not even speaking to you. We had a few young teenage boys who were very helpful, even looking up the item we needed in their system for us. They didnt have the item at that location but their service was tremendous. But the young lady that assists at the self check is often rather haste. I understand she is busy as well and usually has a lot going on but it leaves something to he desired when she comes to your register when you request help, pushes a button, and walks away without even offering a smile. I have a lot of compassion for people who work in the service industry and Im usually disappointed when they fail to even offer a smile to their customers. But, we do greatly enjoy this location overall. Weve moved away but any time we are in Baytown, we always stop by again.

The good...... It is a large nice new store, parking is ample and when you leave there is a dedicated light. Everybody in town knows what entering Garth Rd is like. You can get gas at a discount using your Kroger card. The employees are generally friendly and helpful. The bad..... You have to walk to the back of the store to find the actual groceries, past aisles and aisles of clothing which makes you wonder if you hadnt walked into Academy by mistake. They *constantly* push the store brands over preferred name brands. Looking for power bars? They are in 4 different areas of the store, depends on the brand. Why? No one seems to know. How about frozen yogurt? Youd think a simple item. Well, youd be wrong. Zip, flip-flop nada, none. Or my favorite - Chobani coffee flavored yogurt, one of the most popular? (see pic) Almost never in stock. And I have to ask nearly every time. When they have it quantities are minimal. Overall a much nicer store that the one near Baker, but it still makes me wish the new HEB would finish construction already.

I called seafood department today to check on the price for the salmon. Spoke with some guy supposedly name Wayne and was told that its on sale for $4.99 per pound. Was told that price will change tomorrow to $6.99 per pound. He told me that he would be there until 7 pm tonight. I sent someone out to purchase some salmon and ms Donna said its not on sale and the price would be $6.99. I asked them if I could talk to that guy and they said he already left even though it was only 5:30 pm at that time. I then asked to transfer me to the manager and he has no clue. After (supposedly) checking with someone, he told me that salmon is not on sale at all and even for tomorrow. Very bad customer service and staff are not knowledgeable. Also, Many time I caught them selling salad lunch boxes that were already expired and all they did was to put a red sticky over it to cover up the expiration date. This store needed to be reported to the health department for fraud and selling expired food.

All the 5 star reviews of March - welcome to June. I too liked this store when it opened but now it is awful. The staff is just PURE RUDE. They HATE their customers. Leaking ceilings everywhere - if that is not enough - I bought eggs. The girl at the counter pushed them hard on the side. Broke it when she was ringing up the wine and told me to go and get another one if I still wanted eggs. - AND yeah - blamed the wine when I asked to see the manager. The manager just stood there. Employees like her should find another job - She laughed when she gave me my receipt. Krogers - you are not the only store in Baytown. There are others. And yes - teach your employees basic courtesy - send them to train at Whole Foods

Update: I ran in tonight and only 1 register was open besides self-checkout ☹️. I had to wait behind several folks with baskets FULL of groceries & they did not know what they were doing. Too big of a store for just 1 lane, no matter what time it is. Watch out because HEB is coming!! First visit: This place has it all and then some! You can actually grind fresh PB in the store, which is great for the health-conscious folks. Theres also a chilled wine section, sushi, Starbucks and really great produce. If youre in a pinch, you can even get clothes, shoes and toys there! My new favorite store and its close to home, yay!
