Its fine for pet food and toys and such, but as an aquarium hobbyist its probably among the worst Petcos Ive been to. Their tanks are dirty, their fish look stressed and in poor health. I went in looking for a medication, they didnt have it, which is fine it was more of a specialty item, but the associate starts spouting off about how I should try using aquarium salt, without knowing what type of disease or fish I was even trying to deal with. I have saltwater fish, aquarium salt isnt going to do anything. They keep fish together in tanks that should not be kept together, which results in torn fins and stressed fish. Theres no reason for this, they have plenty of tank space, just learn about what you are selling, and rearrange the fish into groups that can actually get along. They also for some reason order fish that require expert level care. The employees definitely need some more education. A few simple changes could result in a much better aquarium department.

For me, being in the aquarium hobby for 40 years, I am very disappointed in Petco. They have driven all the true aquarium stores out of business, leaving us with this as a choice for our needs. They wont order special fish (even when a larger store of theirs can), and have a poor selection of food and accessories for the die hard enthusiast. Some of their people have knowledge, but buyer beware, that is the exception. I am always looking fr something in our local Petco (besides fish) and my chances of finding it is 50/50. I remember Aquarium stores fish that were healthy and vibrant, sales help extremely knowledgeable, would order and fish in that they could get and 99% of the time , they had everything you need,

Called 2 days before to get my dog in for grooming. They called and received her medical records. I show up, and they say she is to old and they do not feel comfortable grooming her, even though she is in good health. Shes been groomed a million times. Worst customer service ever.

I called customer service before I came and that was extremely helpful. I go to buy some fish and the staff was incredibly nice, plus they are super helpful. Definitely one of my favorite pet stores.

The staff was extremely knowledgeable and the store is well stocked. I appreciate the fact that the fish department is well maintained, very few dead fish which is a huge factor when I buy a fish.
