This location was referred to me by a gun counter employee at Academy a few miles away. He stated that they had a large selection and knowledgeable staff from his personal experience. Plus had great reviews from people he had referred there. Decided to make the detour from normal route to check them out. First impression was great. Clean facility inside and out. Parking lot had plenty of handicap parking along with wounded warrior (which I am not) only parking which I appreciate. Upon entering the location you are greeted with well merchandised and fully stocked displays. The employees at the counter and employee engaged with customer at a scope display greeted me quickly. From there they asked great questions to explore the nature of my visit. I explained I recently purchased a rifle and needed to purchase parts mount my scope to it. From there the questions continued to gain insight into what I was hunting, brand of scope, rifle type, budget and other related questions. After determining they did not have the mount and rings I needed on the sales floor my sales associate went to the back and quickly came back with a option that fit my needs. This rifle was my first rifle purchase which I made from a different vendor. I explained that I had no experience surrounding mounting a scope or even basics around my rifle. They went above and beyond by explaining things to look for, break in procedures and general information to which I appreciated greatly. They could have easily got me the right parts and sent me away since they were selling me in inexpensive parts for a gun I didnt buy from them but that was not what they did. They didnt make me feel like an idiot due to my lack of knowledge or try to sell me products that were outside of my budget. We continued to talk about my new rifle and although my budget did not involve other items at this time. The associate spent time going over tips regarding mounting scope and other items I might be interested in the near future. The visit overall was a great experience. Even though I living in Austin, when I travel to DFW I have found a new destination that Ill be stopping by on a regular basis. The staff was so friendly and the location presentation was put together and maintained so well I have already recommended my friends to stop by there. This long of a review is not typical of myself but I felt it important enough to share my experience with others. Id recommend making the small detour from IH35 to see this location even if you are not in the market. Ive already planned my next trip around stopping by again to ask some follow-up questions regarding a few topics we discussed. In short, check this location out and you will not be disappointed. The few negative reviews I saw here in Google reviews are not what I experienced or saw. I do believe that their experiences are a result of their attitude and inability to ask questions respectfully and take advice as advice and not truth.

I called yesterday to see if a particular scope was in stock. They did have it in stock as it has been very hard to find. I then told the person I wanted to buy the scope but wanted to talk to someone about the price match guarantee which reads "110% low price guarantee WE WILL BEAT ANY PRICE!" this is total crap. The whole point of a price match is if someone else gives you a better price they will match it. After asking about the price match I am told I have to fill out a form to get the price match and they will get back to me. At this point I am concerned about someone else getting the scope and am told they will hold the scope for me while I fill out the form. I asked if I could speak with the person who can ok the price match so that I could decide to buy right then and was told it has to be done through their form. I submit the form and wait. Then I get an email back that just explains the policy and then says they cannot price match due to the original dealer with the price not being in stock. I then called and asked to speak with the person again about the price match to explain that no one else had the item in stock with the correct reticle at all. I was still not able to speak with the person but instead just explained that the way their policy works. What is the point in this? The whole reason I came to them was the original dealer with the better price was out of stock. This is not a price match guarantee this is false advertising and is basically a lie. I found this out while at lunch and explained I would call back when I finished eating. So i thought about it and decided what the hell this is a christmas present for my son so I would go ahead and buy the scope without the price match. So I call back and tell the person I am ready to buy the scope on hold. She says hang on, then comes back and says unfortunately orders were placed while it was on hold so the scope will have to go to someone else, but that she is really sorry. I would not recommend spending your money with a company that handles their business this way.

Poor customer service. I originally ordered one of their SWFA 10x42 scopes and 2 sets of their rings. Paid almost $500. I placed my order beginning of december as this was going to be a present for someone. It wasnt until days after my order that I received an email stating my scope had been shipped, but the rings were back ordered for 4 months. After several emails and failed responses with no resolution, i called them. I was offered burris rings at double the price but i would have to pay the difference. I finally settled on some weaver rings instead of the SWFA rings. Now it gets worse. Since they already sent my scope, I had to pay additional shipping on the rings or wait 4 months to receive the original rings. Once again i stressed that this was a christmas gift and really needed them before christmas. Since I live less than 200 miles from the store and in the same state, I was assured there was plenty of time to get the rings. They arrived 4 days after christmas. In the money i spent in shipping and time wasted, i could have driven to the store and got what I needed. It gets worse still!!! After opening the box I realized there were screws missing so I couldnt install the rings on the rifle. I call and complain. Every time I called or emailed I tried to be polite as posisble, i know what its like to work customer service and being rude gets you nowhere. But this time i was upset. I explained how frustrating this was and how i thought this was poor service. Their response? Sent me the extra screws I needed and offered free shipping on my next order. After dealing with them for nearly a month and several mistakes made on their end, charged double shipping, failed to ship my order before christmas, I was only offered free shipping? I wont need that since I will never order from SWFA again. I would have liked to at least had an apology.

These guys are great. I recently bought an expensive rifle and I had a local gunsmith mount my scope. The way it was mounted caused it to shoot way way too high. The gunsmith couldnt resolve the problem and the manufacturer of the rifle recommended that I got to SWFA. They are about an hour drive from me but it was worth it. The guys looked at the rifle and fixed the mount in about 30 minutes. These guys really know their stuff. The store is incredibly nice. The building is brand new and is very impressive. They have a great selection of guns, ammo and accessories. Their ammo is cheap also compared to bigger stores like cabelas or bass pro. They have a phenomenal selection of scopes as well. They have the full line up or swaroski, vortex, leupold, Nikon, etc on display. You can literally walk up to the displays and test them all out in one place. I will definitely be a returning customer and highly recommend this place
