If you are reading this and any of the other reviews, I would like to tell you that you need to take all of them into consideration and do not give them the benefit of the doubt like I did. I read a lot of the reviews but decided that since most people tend to complain, Im going to give them a shot. BAD IDEA! Ive had the refrigerator in my home for less than 4 months, they have been out several times, I have done what they said, and it still does NOT work properly! I purchased a refrigerator on 2/15/14, it was delivered on 2/22/14, and when I say delivered, it seemed like they 2 men who quickly ran it into my home, plugged it in, said it would take up to 24 hours to cool, had me sign a piece of paper and hurried back out the door. I let it sit for the 24 hours as indicated and it never cooled, at all! I called on Monday, 2/24/2014, to advise of the issue and they did send out a repair person that day and he replaced a starter of sorts. Everything seemed to be working fine. Until 5/1/2014 when I came home from work I noticed it making a louder noise and when I opened the doors and noticed the freezer was at 30 degrees and the fridge part was around 60 degrees. On 5/2/2014 I called to schedule service. The service person came out and said it seemed to be cooling but I probably needed a control board. Of course after he left the temperature on both the fridge and freezer started rising again. I called back, and they were kind enough to send another technician out to take a look as I had just purchased groceries and was having friends and family in town that weekend. The second repair person advised that I needed the control board and assured me he would put in the order to purchase the part. I spoke with Kevin on 5/2/2014 after the repair persons had left and he advised me that he ordered the part, I called just about every other day getting the run around of when the part was going to be in. They finally received the part on 5/22/2014. We scheduled for the part to be installed on 5/23 and my friend would be at my home as I was out of town. The part was replaced on 5/23 and again, everything seemed to be working fine. On 6/2, 6/3, 6/4, and 6/5, in the evenings I noticed the temperatures of both fridge and freezer rising and in the morning they would be back to normal. On 6/6 I called to make another appointment as when I opened the fridge on 6/6 the temperatures had not dropped. I technician was scheduled to come out the following day, 6/7. On 6/7 the repair person came out and checked the Freon. Evidently there was only 2 lbs of Freon in the fridge and he advised me that there should be 12 lbs. The Freon was replenished and he advised that for sure it will be getting colder. After he left I also left my home. When I returned that evening both temperatures were still on the high side. On 6/8 the fridge temperature had dropped but the freezer had not. On 6/9 to advise that the problem was not resolved. A technician was sent back out on 6/10, the repair person came out and then told me that the freezer is frozen and needs to be defrosted for about 2 days. This would be fine if I had a place to put $200 worth of groceries while this process took place. He said that I can use it as is but also it could get other issues if it was not defrosted. After going through the groceries, I unplugged it and opened the doors Sunday, 6/15, and did not plug it back in until Wednesday, 6/18, in the evening. The fridge was completely cool by Thursday morning, 6/19, but the freezer was sitting at 25 degrees. This morning, 6/20, the fridge was still at 25 degrees. I havent even had the fridge in my house for 4 months and this is what I have been through thus far and it still doesnt even work correctly! While the concept is great and you can get "nicer" (refurbished) appliances at a super low discounted price, my advice and suggestion is to try to go somewhere else. It is not worth the stress of all of this!

Is there such thing as lower than one star rating? Just like all the other reviews of this business, this is a scam. BIG time. Dont let that "13 month warranty" fool you. Let me explain their business model (as confirmed by several of the repairmen who will remain anonymous but have confirmed all of this). And it should be noted that the repairmen or deliverymen never last long there because of their own upstanding moral turpitude. They buy up broken appliances, parts, lemons, and returns for pennies- and sell them to you WITHOUT refurbishing them. Dont kid yourself, this is how they make money. After youve paid, youre on the hook since they do not issue refunds. Then they will schedule "emergency" repair appointments after its in your home to look and see what the problems are- this is their first time inspecting your item to see whats "wrong with this one". They wait until after the items are purchased and after you complain its broken to inspect said appliance and then order the parts needed to fix...and its only one problem at a time, that is IF they send someone out. Sure, they have a 13month warranty. They do that because they know NONE of their appliances work. They have to be fixed first... but theyll do that once theyre in your house. The managers continually lie about units in stock, units available, servicemen, availability, parts, etc. When I say lie, I mean blatant. Almost sounding rehearsed. I was told about times that a floor model was purchased and before it went out to the consumer, they actually harvested a couple parts for a different repair scheduled later that afternoon. So someone actually got a model that was stripped before it got shipped to them! The repairmen cant stand the management because they know the management swindles consumers. Evidently there is dissent even among the management about how to best maximize the dollar and get away with more broken units that never get fixed, from what I was told by three repairmen. Every one that came out to use had left the company more than once only to come back for more money... and left again. Theyll purposefully try to schedule when youre not home to keep putting off repairs. Its beyond unethical. They down right take advantage by preying on consumers. We actually asked for a different unit, which they said they would let us swap. Then when we got there, each of the three we picked, the manager decided we "couldnt have that one", until the only other choice was one $300 less and looked like it was bashed in with baseball bats. At this point we have had 5 "repair" visits. Guess what, still doesnt work right. I just want my money back and call it even. In fact, Ill even take a hit on tax or delivery if they just let me out of this appliance hell. But nope, they got me. And theyll get you too. Its worth the extra spend to get an item that works. If you dont, be prepared for an item that does not work, and will not work. Buyer beware.

Be sure and read the 40 reviews on the 1500 W Ben White site. The only good reviews are those that Aff Apl seeded. We bought a used PRC25 Haier refrigerator from Affordable Appliances, on June2, 2012. We accidentally left the door open for about an hour on June 21 and the entire refrigerator froze up. When I talked to Kevin at the store he told me this was normal for these types of units and to just unplug the refrigerator for 2-3 days. We did and the refrigerator then worked for another week when the unit froze up again. We then noticed the plug coming from refrigerator didnt have a ground making the unit an electrical hazard. This was verified by a Master Electrician Stoelle Electric, Buda, TX who had to repair the outlet the refrigerator shorted. The manual for this model states that removing the ground portion of the plug is prohibited. This is a safety hazard which Affordable Appliance disregarded even after we brought it to their attention on two occasions. When the "refrigeration specialist" from Affordable Appliance came and looked at the refrigerator he did no repairs, claimed the plug was safe, and left. Yesterday the refrigerator went out for the third time We went to Affordable Appliance this morning to demand an exchange on our refrigerator. Their warranty states that they exchange free within the first 30 days but we were told that no longer applied to us as we had "damaged" the unit by leaving the door open. We have talked to numerous appliance dealers as well as Haier Customer Service and found that at no time does this cause a unit to freeze up. We were also told that we would have to pay a $120 repair fee + parts despite the fact their warranty claims that labor on repairs are free for the first 13 months. When I stated again that I wanted another unit, the owners wife became abusive, cursed me, and started to attack me. Her husband restrained her and physically pushed her into a back office. When I still demanded another unit she attempted to attack me again. We called the police and filed a report at the business address. Worst company I’ve ever dealt with. They should be driven out of town. Remember, you can file a complaint against them with BBB and with the State Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Office.
