Today will be the last time I ever take my dogs to the groomers at the Arvada petsmart off of Wadsworth. My 11 year old black lab has gone to this same grooming salon multiple times now. I walked into the grooming salon this morning and they proceed to walk my dog to the back, which of course he is always apprehensive about. I already warned them about his hips and how he is not good on the slick floors they have in the front part of the salon. As hes walking back and looking at me his hips give out and he falls to the floor. I ask the lady walking him back to help him up please. She just stands there, leaving him in the highly uncomfortable situation, and looks at the other groomers in the saloon. A few of the groomers proceed to start lecturing me about how if he cannot stand long enough, they will need to send him home. I try to reassure them that if you help him up and get him to the back where its not as slick, he will be fine. They continue to lecture me and reiterate that he may have to be sent home, all while he still lays in the uncomfortable position on the floor. I ask them again to help him up and get him off the slick floors and he will be fine. They eventually help him up and get him to the back and then the lady who is his assigned groomer again lets me know that he will probably just have to go home. I let them know he was just in here a few months ago and they had no problems with him at all. I ended up leaving him there, but am extremely close to going straight back and yanking him out of there. I was very happy when I moved and was able to take my pets to the Arvada Banfield office, but I wish the groomers at this location were up to par with the veterinarians and techs. I will NEVER take me pets back to the Arvada petsmart groomers and I advise you to do the same!! If these people dont truly love animals, they should not be working with them and will surely never work with my animals again.

I took my 12 year old German Shepard x in for a bath and groom package. He had been there 3-4 times prior to this visit. Since he is a senior I asked if he could have a little special love, the girl who took him said she would make sure there was an "elderly" note. The package he usually gets is the furminator and it usually takes about 3 hours. I dropped him off at 12 and arrived a little earlier then 3. The girl was finishing up the brushing. I noticed that she was going to town pretty rough with the sharp brush. Rougher than I typically go at home. I shrugged it off and then realized that she was man handling him like he was a puppy. She was holding him like a bear hug and had her thigh shoved up under his hips like he wasnt behaving. I didnt see her trying to pet him, talk to him or even smiling. At the time I was angry but didnt say anything when I picked him up. When we got home he drank a whole big bowl of water like he hadnt had any all day. When I was inspecting the grooming job I found a large sore on his hip under the small amount of hair he had left in the area. It scabbed over the next day. I worked very closely with dogs for a period of 4 years at a kenneling facility and I am no stranger to the frustration that those animals can cause even when they dont mean to. I am also aware that my dogs sore may not have come from the grooming session....however, watching that girl handle my 12 year old, best friend, made me very uncomfortable. I will not be taking my dog back to that grooming center nor will I bring him to any petsmart to get groomed again.

Pretty disappointed with the grooming salon. I went in on Saturday, March 4, 2017 with my dog to get an estimate and was happy with the quoted base price of around $25 for a bath. I also asked about whether or not his arthritis and hip dysplasia would be a problem and was told that as long as he could stand for thirty minutes it shouldnt be a problem and if he needed it they could take breaks; I just needed to let the stylist know. They deal with senior dogs all the time! Great! The stylist I spoke to have me a card which I somehow misplaced between the treat aisle and the drive home so I decided to use the PetSmart app to book the appointment. Now suddenly the base price is $32 for a bath? Um? Ok, I guess its not that much more for the convenience of using the app. So I filled out the app form, filling out the information for the stylist as suggested that my dog has arthritis and hip dysplasia and may need breaks for the thirty minutes. Today I get a call saying that dogs are required to be able to stand for three hours and I need to cancel the appointment and go elsewhere. Why are your stylists at the front desk giving out conflicting information and wasting peoples time? Why are you not making accommodations for senior dogs or dogs with conditions? I dont have a car and this salon is literally across the street from me. Why are you giving out different prices from the app? Im so disappointed with this experience.

Now some big Saudi conglomerate took over and restructured management this store went from hero to zero! When they had the manager Mike there I thought the store was run very well. Everyone seemed to really want to be there and were helpful. You go in now and they have maybe 2 checkout lanes open during busy times. Cant get anyone to help find anything. And staff walk around like a bunch of zombies. Was a long time patron but no longer. I cant deal with people who act like they really dont want to be there and dont feel like they want to help out. I know by looking at a lot of my reviews I am very critical of a lot of places but something is wrong with businesss these days. Maybe the people who work at them arent paid enough or maybe they really dont care? I dont know but its sad. I would rather support a small Mom & Pop place then a huge corporation. Banfield hospital inside is not much better. Bought prescription feline food and went back to get a different brand and they had my feline listed as a canine. Went to sell me dog food for my cat when it specifically says feline on the stupid card they make you get every 6 months. Petsmart lost my business but wont matter because for every one person who stops going, 4 will take their place. Oh well.....

I wanted to get my dog groomed today and had called several petsmarts and not one location had an appt. available today so I left my number at all the locations I had called so if they had an appt become available, they could call me. Well this location on 52ND and Wadsworth called me about five minutes after I hung up when them. I spoke With Sabrina who told me she was new and had been training and they were letting her on her own now and I could bring my dog, Mayhem in to be groomed by her any time today. I had mixed feelings at first. I was thrilled they could see my dog today but I was nervous after Sabrina told me she was new and this was pretty much get first time grooming alone. I never do reviews ever but Sabrina was so awesome with my dog from the start of his appt.to the end, that I decided to do this review. I usually go to the petsmart on 38th and simms but not anymore. I will definitely return to see Sabrina at the Arvada location. Usually when I drop Mayhem off to be groomed, Im worried the entire time but the second I met Sabrina, her personality and the way she was With Mayhem, made me feel very comfortable leaving my favorite guy in the world there. THANK YOU SABRINA YOU WERE AMAZING AND IM SO GLAD YOU WERE THE ONE TO SEE MY DOG TODAY!!!
