How many Costco employees does it take to make a Berry Sundae with chocolate and vanilla swirl? Let me start off by saying that I love Costco. Ive been a member ever since they came to New York in 1986 as Price Club. My wife and I had been involved in the effort to bring Costco to East Tennessee, since the drive to Nashville was too cumbersome...and we were so happy when they opened the Farragut store. Today...like most weeks...we went shopping at Costco. First we ate lunch...several hot dogs...chicken bakes...turkey and provolone sandwich...sodas. Then we filled the shopping cart with more than $300.00 worth of groceries. On the way out, everyone wanted a Berry Sundae...except my son, who wanted a Latte Mocha Freeze. My daughter placed the order at the food court. "A Latte Mocha Freeze, and 4 Berry Sundaes" she said, and then added "2 chocolate and 2 chocolate and vanilla swirl". The girl at the counter made the chocolate Berry Sundaes and gave them to my daughter with the Latte Mocha Freeze. Then the girl made the swirl sundaes. When she handed them to my daughter, they had no berries. "These were supposed to be sundaes" my daughter told the girl. The girl took the cups back and put a scoop of berries on top of each. My daughter brought me the cups and asked "Dad...can you bring these back and have them make them the right way?" So...I brought the cups to the counter and asked the girl to remake them, pointing out that there were no berries throughout the cup. The girl seemed annoyed, but remade the sundaes. When I handed them to my daughter...she pointed out "But these are only vanilla...not chocolate and vanilla swirl". Now I was getting upset. The chocolate sundaes were melting and I had to have the swirl sundaes made a third time! This time I went to the manager and explained the problem. I asked him to please intervene on my behalf. He assured me he would explain it to the food court manager, and ensure I would get the proper order this time. So...I explained yet again "I need 2 Berry Sundaes with chocolate and vanilla swirl". Imagin my face when a different girl put 2 chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream cups in front of me...with no berries! Was I in some episode of the Twilight Zone? "Really?" I asked. "Where are the berries?" She seemed annoyed and confused. I was angry. Finally she made the 2 sundaes with chocolate and vanilla swirl...and some berries. I took them to my daughter and wife, who held them up and looked at them. "Could they spare the berries?" my wife asked...pointing out that there were only a small amount of berries in the sundae. But I wasnt going back in. We were in the van by then, driving out of the parking lot. I realized we had, in all the confusion, forgoten to take the drinks out with us. When we arrived home, we also discovered that the employee who checked us out...and put our groceries in the cart, had squished several of our items. As I had mentioned...I love Costco. And while we routinely have good experiences at our favorite store...we have had 4 or 5 bad or negative experiences. This was one of them! I wonder if Costco will do the right thing here...and reach out to me and offer to correct this experience...which would only be fair. Or will they just ignore it...and not take any corrective action. I guess well see!

(Note: I tried to leave my complaint on Costcos website, but when I clicked on the submit button, it would not send the email complaint, so I will complain here!) I just stopped in the Costco at Farragut, Tn, store #1116, for avocados. When I got to the checkout, I held onto the avocados because the bed of the conveyor had several wet spots on it and I did not want my avocados to touch the conveyor because of that. I handed the avocados to the cashier, Mary O (according to my receipt), and told her I was handing them to her because I didnt want to put them down in the wet spots. She took them from me and immediately sat them down in one of the wet spots instead of scanning them! It seems to me that she did it deliberately! I then proceeded to ask her why she did that and explained AGAIN that I did not want the avocados getting wet from whatever had been on the conveyor before I got there! That is a sanitary problem to me! She did not even apologize, just proceeded to ring up the transaction. My husband paid her and, meanwhile, the lady who was helping at the register by directing the carts and placing items on the conveyor, apologized and offered to go get me another bag of avocados. I was so angry by that time that I needed to get out of there before I really said something that I would regret. Also, I had chosen that bag because all of the avocados were not ripe, unlike some of the other bags. I chose not to accept her offer, but she again offered to get me another. She was very nice about it (sorry, I didnt get her name), unlike Mary O. I stopped at the customer service desk and told the lady there about what had happened, and she also apologized. It seems to me that the conveyor should be wiped down or at least dried off with a paper towel just for sanitation. Who knows what the hands that held whatever had wet the conveyor had in them before they handled the food? I suggested to the customer service rep that the conveyors should be cleaned up anyway because there was lots of funky stuff caught where the metal part covers the conveyor belt right beside the cash register. I think if Mary O had even halfway acted apologetic, I would not have been so offended, but she just went on about her business like I was not even talking to her! She needs some training in customer appreciation! She is the first employee that I have had such sad dealings with, but it has given me a really bad attitude about ever stepping inside the store again and I have 9 months left on my membership! I cant believe that Costco would want to be represented by that type of attitude!

An above average wholesale warehouse! Not as much variety as other places, but the prices are right on for most products. *If you want to know more about Costco watch the documentary on Netflix - It is very educational & interesting. It explain why you are always search for the new location of your favorite products. They have a large selection of seasonal "name brand clothing." Be careful though just because it says the name brand, they are not as usual upto the same quality control standards as the clothing you will would find @ Belks, Burdines, Dillards, Macy, Jc Penny for a few dollars more. For Example: i have purchased mens khaki Dockers and Hagger pants from Costco - the same model style as I had got from Belks. When comparing my Belks pants to my Costco pants (exact same #s) - The Belk pants had better/thicker stitching, better material - less wrinlky after wash. The Costco bought pants dont hold up in washing machine as well...Do still buy clothing? Yes, I just look a lot closer at the stitching and quality of the material before I purchase. Which brings me to a Costco 5 star area - Returns - We have returned a variety of products from food to clothing...with no questions asked. The way all returns should be. Very helpful. 5 star price - Kerigold Irish Butter - worth every penny 5 star prices - Gerry clothing for men - down vest, jackets, shorts & shirts. I highly recommend for guys that like life outdoors.
