Schlegel Bicycles is one of the best bicycle shops I have ever visited not only in the U.S. but in the world. When I travel I like to stop by the local shops and see what they have and get the feel. Cycling is a lifestyle for me and will be a factor in choosing my next location once I retire from the military. I recently went Schlegel after my Garmin broke after going over a cattle guard. I have not had much luck with other shops but was in a pinch and took a co-workers recommendation to check Schlegel out. I needed a new Garmin ASAP as Saturday was a few days away and decided why not. Not only was I able to pick up the Garmin I wanted but they had the new POC helmet I have been eyeing as well. As I was paying I saw a Cannondale Synapse asked about the price. The price was more than fair for having Shimano UDI shifting, and disk brakes. I have been looking for a complement for my nine-year-old Serotta for over a year now. I found it at Schlegel. I truly almost walked out of there not buying it after talking to my wife. But after talking to Chris about they would conduct a fitting for me to match my Serotta that I did not have with me I was convinced. Not only did I purchase the bike but I also purchased some Zipp 303 wheels to go with the bike, the wife knows. I showed up on Sunday for my appointment and was thinking if they cannot get the exact measurements of my Serotta I would have to return my new Cannondale. Dan a certified Guru fitter worked with lasers, tap, and a tape measure to get those measurements perfectly and then transfer them to my Cannondale. They set up both bikes on a trainer and I jumped back and forth to compare the inputs. Dan is a master fitter and literarily nailed it, within (2-3mm) he said. I ride a ton, 2-3 mm is nothing and I could not tell. I took it outside and made one small tweak to the handle bat slope. One does not have to ride a ton, be a CAT 1 racer, or be pro to benefit from this shop. This shop treats everyone the same, with respect. Like I said, I have been Austin’s “best” shop according to Cycling Magazine, and had a Retul fitting in Dallas and Schlegel is better. I hope this review helps a cyclist like Schlegel helped me for 5 hours over those two days. Thanks again Chris and Dan… And no I get nothing I only want to pass on my point of view. Joe

do NOT GO to Schlegel Bicycles for repairs or adjustments!!! Swindling little twits! I had talked to a very nice mechanic on the phone who told me they could do a full inspection and fix the disc brakes on my Amcheer(which I was clear about it being an electric bike) he said "not a problem, if you bring it on in today I can get it fix you can pick it up Monday morning. I asked how much it would cost for a full inspection and brake adjustment told him it had disc brakes he informed me $15 dollars! both we always inspect! I take the bike up in my Dads truck. I do not own a car, this bike was to be my primary transport here in my home town of Moore. Marty, a sales rep in addition to being rude and belittling to me, at the store said he would charge $80 for "even touching the bike" and that the discs werent part of the deal he had to do the whole thing! I was informed the inspection and discs were $15!) I had assumed electric bike shops were rare in OKC and Oklahoma in general, so I was going to go ahead let these people make the adjustments anyway. "Marty" asked me "is this the battery?!" as in HE DID NOT KNOW WHERE A BATTERY WAS ON AN ELECTRIC BIKE! I told him to look it up online! he was unwilling but decided to anyway(when he felt like it), we agreed temporarily to leave the bike! he claimed "no one in Oklahoma but Schlegels works on special electric bikes! so we drove down the block near Sheridan I decided that I did not want these criminals touching my bike for anything, I would either find someone else or find a way to calibrate the brakes myself (no real info on that anywhere on or off line for AMCHEER folding electrics!)I told Dad this, he claimed we might just find someone, we did! Wheeler Dealer! and we drove back to Schlegels! and I told Marty I was going to take it someplace else that was honest. DO NOT LEAVE ANY BIKE WITH THESE JERKS THEY ARE NOT MECHANICALLY ENCLINED!

I will never return to this store again! They have bad service and are only looking to sell as much stuff to you as possible. They are not here to help you find a solution to your concerns but to fatten their wallets. The customer service was by far the worst I have ever experienced anywhere! My first time in the store was a bad experience after having talked to one of the technicians regarding solutions for replacing my rear derailleur on my 1976 bicycle. He scarfed at me while emphasizing that my bicycle was not worth much and that I could slap on a very cheap derailleur as a solution to my concern. This "experienced" technician handed me a Shimano derailleur which was not compatible with my bicycle. I realized this instantly and brought it to his attention to which he answered "This is what I do for a career, Ive been doing this for years, of course itll work". I insisted 3 times, as he would not hear any of it, that the derailleur was not compatible. He then had a closer look at my bicycle to realize he was wrong. He NEVER Appologized for his lack of professionalism to insistently contradict me and simply overrule my observation without second guessing himself. I find that unacceptable.

Not so great experience with the service department. Brought my bike in to swap the fork to a new Marzocchi Corsa on my 2010 Cannondale. I asked the guy if he could fill me in on what needed to be done and give me an estimate on the price (was missing a stem to fit the 1 1/8 steering tube). Im not sure if he was slow, or just a bad communicator, but I felt very condescended (no eye contact and insisted on punching the order into the computer rather than speaking with me about my issue). Bottom line--$40-50 for a low-end stem, + $60-70 for labor. They couldnt get to the repair for 6 days and wanted to hold onto it for at least a week. (Service Guy: "What, did you really expect to get your bike back today?" Me: "Well no, but I think a week wait for this is a bit long") I left and did it myself ($35 HQ stem + 3hrs of work and use of a friends Pipe Cutter). Save yourself $85 and look up instructions online. I would be hesitant to come back here or recommend this place to a buddy.

Updated: Was contacted by Steve who went out of his way to make sure I got the needed parts for my trailer. Was super friendly, helpful and even offered to bring the parts to me to fix the problem. :) Got to use my Weehoo trailer and now my toddler is happy and so am I. :) Bought a WeeHoo Igo Pro trailer for my kiddos from Schlegel Family & Recreation store. They only had a pre-assembled one which I was okay with. I asked several times if all parts were there and was reassured "Yes they were all there."Stated they had just assembled it yesterday. Get home and look at WeeHoo instructions online only to realize there are no bushings to connect it to my bike. Customer service was so-so at best and now I am stuck with a trailer that I cant use until I get the new bushings from the manufacturer. If your shopping for a WeeHoo trailer and found Schlegal as a distributor online save yourself some trouble and order directly from Aaron at WeeHoo.
