I will rate these guys five stars because: (keep reading ... cool story) I came to Austin with an internship and the commute was a bit long to do on foot, so after a week i bought a 40$ bike from a nice mexican gentleman. After the first day the seat broke so i took it to "Bicycle Sport Shop" to get a tune up. I put around 80$ into it(40$ for new seat , 15$ pump, rest service). I specifically asked the chick working there to fix anything that can be fixed !(The reason I insisted was the "curvy" rear tire). All that happened was a few screws tightened and an explanation that "there is nothing more we can do" ! I had same crappy brakes, same crappy shifters. So i said, ok, "I bought a crappy bike Im gonna suffer the consequences !". Around 2 weeks passed, and then, one wonderful ride home from work, I decided to jump an obstacle and i got a flat tire(the rear one :) ). So, naturally, i decided to take it back to "Bicycle Sport Shop" to get it fixed. They were closed(twas around 7ish pm). Then I started walking home and i stumbled across "Barton Springs Bike Rental". They were open until 8 pm ! YAY ! I went in just out of curiosity to ask if they also fix bikes. THEY DO ! I told JOHN(ask for him next time) to change the flat and anything else he can fix. (Same line i used last time). GUESS WHAT: JOHN fixed my flat tire , fixed my brakes, fixed my shifters, AND FIXED MY CURVY TIRE! After that the bike ran impeccably ! Lesson: never judge a shop by how big it is , but by the people that work there ! This whole endeavor costed me around 20$ and about 25 min(maybe), gave him all i had cash as tip. Keep up the good work, John from NY!

I love this place seriously! The price was great and you can keep it over night for only 5 bucks. Just return at the time you rented the bike. I would recommend the hybrid bike because it lets you explore the all of Austin with ease! We bike almost 25 miles today. *********IMPORTANT********** While riding back to drop off the bikes my friend and I were T-BONE by a car. Ill post pictures to prove it. My friend walk away with some nicks and I have a couple bruises and cuts. The bikes on the other hand were completely wrecked. I mean the frames and wheels were bent Mark joked about calling the number on the bike if we needed to get rescued sure enough the guy almost beat the cops and paramedics to the scene. After we got patched up from the paramedics, he drove us back to our car and made sure we were okay. I will always rent bikes from him whenever when Im Austin! Thank you Mr. Mitchell for your hospitality and Im glad we walked away with a story to tell and not a nightmare.

Helpful,Great Discounts: The owner at BS bike rental is extremely helpful. We showed at his place with very less notice. We had a huge group of 22. Within no time he and his helper got all our bikes ready to go. We had the bikes rented out for 2 hrs. After 2 hrs we returned in micro-groups and found that one person was missing. She had lost her way and the worst part was that she didnt have a cell phone with her. It was getting dark and Austin gets really weird after dark :P The Owner was kind enough to wait for 2 more hours till we eventually tracked our friend. He had some dinner plans and he was kind enough to reschedule it. I would recommend this place to anyone. They also have good discounts if you are in large groups :)

Ive already recommended this place to 2 friends of mine. The staff here was incredibly helpful. We took our baby with us and they helped us get him fitted for his helmet and on the baby seat. If you do end up using an baby/todler seat they do recommend you call in advance so they can set one aside for you, especially if you plan to go on the weekends. Their bike shop is right next to the trail and they give you a map will all the possible routs you can take depending on how much you want to ride. Bikes come with an optional basket for the front and lock and key in case you need to leave them unattended for any amount of time. Excellent prices too.

Great service and value! I had a lot of variables with my travel and schedule in Austin and Barton Springs Bikes was incredibly accommodating - from meeting me at my hotel to deliver a bike, to extending my rental, to setting up an after-hours drop off. They even steered me to some great music and events in town. Best of all, theyre as fair and honest as the day is long with pricing - no nickel-and-diming, just a really good deal for some pretty good equipment and a hassle-free experience. Thanks, guys, and Ill see you next time Im in town.

Went here today and had a great experience. The two guys working the shop were super helpful and set us up with two bike rentals, a map and even a little bike basket. They have several types of bikes available for renting, including tandem bikes (although my spouse wasnt willing to go for that, haha). Its a great location since its so close to the park, and the prices were totally reasonable. If anything happens while youre out riding, theyll bring you a new bike or fix your flat. Repeat renters get 10% off, too. Well definitely go back.

The owner, Mike was gracious and accommodating to this out-of-towner. No posing here. Questions answered in a friendly manner, even introduced me to the shops mascot, a blue merle (sp?) border collie who loved to chase his stick. Close to some good easy trails and I understand, some more challenging mountain bike trails that were closed on the day I went due to flooding the day before. I plan to return today for a longer ride around Austin.

i had busted my tire one evening after hitting up the springs and before going downtown to watch some music. though i came to their shop after closing time, the guys there were so nice to help me find a functional tube, though they were out of new ones and were patient enough to let me air up the good tube with their gear. i would have had a miserable evening since i parked out by the montopolis bridge! thanks barton springs bike renal

These guys were the BEST. Very knowledgeable and demonstrated incredible customer service. Were a family of six and I got sick during our ride and couldnt make it back. My husband was going to have to make three trips to drop off all the rentals because our bikes rack only carries two bikes at a time but they graciously offered to pick up the bikes for us, at no extra change. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Very helpful, picked me up at my motel far out of town, loaded my friends own bike on the van as well. Bike was ready at the store, and was in very good condition (not always true of rental bikes). It even had front and rear lights! And a lock. Mark told me just to leave the bike locked in the motel lobby and he would pick it up. Pick up and delivery - good bike - excellent service here. Highly recommended.
