What happens when Circuit city closes and Best Buy has no competition. A year ago, we bought a Sony TV and got a play station as a package deal. The play station was free. We bought the extended Geek Squad warranty. Its deceptively branded as "black tie service." I asked the salesman point blank, so if this TV fails in the next two years and is a lemon, geek squad will come out and take the old one off the wall and replace it? Service is included? He said, "Oh Yes" and proceeded to tell me what has turned out to be one long string of lies. In my opinion and based on my experience thus far and assuming that Best buy trains their staff, they are training their staff to lie to us. Heres the short version. Within a few weeks the TV fries, we call GEEK squad, first call takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. By the way, I already had a heavy duty mount on the wall, and since they were running 5 days behind, I hired a truck and two guys to bring it out. They used this to their advantage. I was informed on the first call that since geek squad didnt hang it, they would need me to take the TV on and off the wall for them. "Its a liability issue" Wow, so let me get this straight, not only do your TV repair men not handle TVs, you are going to need me to do it for you! So I hired my employee for a couple of hours to run out and help me(three times). A third party repair person showed up and verified the TV was messed up and then left and ordered the part. Then they came back a couple weeks later and installed a new module. the issue with the TV is that every time the SOny Play Station updates, it freaks out the Sony TV. Thats right, Best Buy was selling incompatible units as a promotion to us suckers. Flash forward, its a year later the TV is a lemon, they agree, they give me a code for another sony TV and tell me to go into the worst managed store on the earth. I stood for 45 minutes in the TV section trying to be polite to the people who where before me. The experience went down hill from there. They won;t deliver the TV because I refuse to pay someone else to take their lemon off the wall again. Ive contacted corporate and been escalated and apologized too and assured by and now lied too, by their top people. Go to New Egg or some other outlet. I stopped buying anything from them years ago, but tried this one last time, lured in by what turned out to be a faulty TV and a salesman full of false statements and warranties that are only partially true., This is what is wrong with American A total lack of integrity and accountability. My Name is Paul Edwards and geek squad should be called poop squad, and best buy needs to go.

It baffles me that this store managers to stay open. My first horrendous experience was when my son dropped off his laptop for repair before being deployed to the Middle East. His laptop was not ready before he left so he left instructions for me to pick it up when it was ready and ship it to him. The store called me to pick up the laptop so I drove over there right away. I told the technician I was there to pick up my sons laptop and gave him my name and my sons name (same last name). He asked for ID and I presented it. He told me that I was not the person who dropped off the laptop. I explained to him, again, that I was picking it up for him because he was deployed. He refused to give it to me. I explained that I must ship the laptop to him because he needed it. He still refused. I then explained that my son gave instructions for me to pick it up and I needed to have the laptop (I had driven 15 miles one way). He then called the manager over. They whispered to one another and the manager came over to tell me that he would call the police if I did not leave the store. Mind you, I had been respectful and courteous the entire time. I told him to go ahead. Finally, he pulled out the original paperwork my son has filled out. Lo and behold there was my name and my phone number in large letters on the front of the paperwork. No one apparently ever bothered to look at it. The manager asked me my name one more time. I gave him my name one more time. He handed the laptop, never said sorry, never said thank you, never said a word. So I called Best Buy customer service who said they would look into it and call me back. I never heard from them either. Today I had the unfortunate task of having to return to this hell hole because I needed a DSL cable. I could not find anyone to help me. I finally approached an employee who clearly did not want to help me. I asked him and he handed me an Ethernet cable. I repeated that I needed a DSL cable. He was incredibly condescending and told me I did not know what I was asking for. So I went outside and called Century Link. They told me to ask for a DSL cable so I went back in and told him. He then told me they did not carry it. Poor customer service, rudeness, and the fact that it is in a very scary, sketch part of town, dont go there!!!!

A laptop was purchased for me as a gift and I was supposed to pick it up in store, we used my best buy account to buy it and selected the option for me to pick it up so there would be no problems. When I went to pick it up they refused to give it to me even though I had ID and the order number but they said that the person who paid needed to be there. Why was there a option for me to pick it up if this was the case? They did say they could cancel the order and I could repurchase it with the same card info, what sense would that make? Oh and they said if I did that there would be a 2 or 3 day hold to release the funds from the original purchase AND I would not be able to use the coupon for $150 off because I could only use it once. The representative was very unsure and kept asking for help from a coworker which made me seriously doubt the information she was telling me. I left the store frustrated and immediately called customer service which told me that was absolutely ridiculous and I had every right to pick it up and to go back to the store and speak to a manager and give him the reference # from the call. I went back in and asked for the manager who continued to lean against the wall and continue chatting with a coworker for another 5 minutes before coming to talk to me. When he finally did he was immediately hostile and defensive and said he had no way to look up the reference number, um you are surrounded by computers dude, really? And what would a reference number be for if that was true? Finally he asked for my ID and then told the original person helping me " finish dealing with her" and walked away, no apology or thanks for you business or anything. I ended up getting my computer, which should have happened in the first place.I have never ever felt so uncomfortable or been treated so badly by a company that I just gave $800 to. This was the first time Ive been able to have my very own computer and it was supposed to be kind of special and exciting, this Best Buy ruined that for me and left me feeling horrible. Not only would I not recommend this Best Buy but Ill go out of my way to warn everyone so nobody has to feel like this. Best Buys prices are not worth being treated like a problem. Stay away.
