This is officially my "go to" bike shop; not only their service, specifically maintenance, is affordable, but the staff is very knowledgeable, honest, and quite friendly. I took my bike in for a basic bike tune up, and they carefully examined my bike and noticed other mechanical issues I needed to be aware of, but they never pressured for pay for additional services. In addition, they mentioned that it would take them two weeks before they can work on my bike--it took them less than a week and my bike was ready--good as new! There have been times where theyve examined my bike at no charge--and they gave me a free spare tire! What sold me on Oak City is their personalized service. One of the owners, David, knows my name (which can be difficult to remember) and when I returned to pick up my bike, he sees me from a distance, after I parked my car, and he immediately goes in the back, and brings it to the front of the store so I wouldnt have wait. The only drawback is that its fairly long drive, as I live in North Raleigh, but given that they give such excellent customer service, its definitely worth the drive--not to mention that they have the coolest bikes in town.

I find any excuse I can to visit Oak City Cycling Project. Since my first just-looking visit, David, Ken, Jared, and Brandon have readily answered my questions and offered amazingly simple advice every time. They know bikes, and theyre cool about it! I walked into OCCP looking for my first "real" bike for commuting. And, over the course of a couple months, I went back at least four times with more questions and to try different bikes before making the decision. I never felt pressured to make a purchase during any of my visits. The guys are there to help. (Really, its the awesome selection of bikes in stock that does the pressuring). Also, the OCCP team does an amazing job of fostering a sense of community unlike anything Ive seen from a local business. And, that, combined with their excellent service and prices, means I have little interest in buying from another bike shop. Seriously, there are two other bike shops less than two miles from my house, and I still prefer to make the nine mile trip to OCCP whenever I have a cycling "need". So, need a bike? Go here.

I dont have a fancy bike. I didnt buy my bike from this shop. But one day after work, around 6:20 PM, I found myself on the side of the road with a flat back tire. My tube had popped and I wanted it changed out as quickly as possible, so that my work commute wouldnt be affected the next day. Even though they were closing at 7, they provided top notch service and changed out my tube. They spent over half an hour messing with it, because my bike is low quality and they wanted to diagnose the issue. I was charged a total of $10 for the tube change and great suggestions. VERY reasonable prices on all manner of maintenance services. Very well staffed and they also appeared to have quality bikes for sale. One day when Im ready to move on from my Amazon/Wal-Mart bike, Im going to go back here for a quality ride. In the mean time, Ill be going there any time I need a tuneup or a new tube. Thanks Oak City Cycling!

Probably the best bike shop in this plane of existence. Service is excellent and priced far below expectations. Good selection of gear and bikes, but mainly, these are people who just want you to ride bikes. They dont care if you want to ride occasionally on a weekend around your neighborhood or start training for the Tour de France, they just want to help you enjoy riding. What more can you ask for? Need a quick adjustment and dont have a tool for it? Drop in...theyll let you borrow a stand and a tool and fix it up and be on your way. Need bigger service but cant afford to give the bike up for more than a day because its your daily commuter? No problem: theyll work with you and make sure you get what you need when and how you need it. This is the only place I go anymore, and I cant believe I wasted two years dealing with other shops before trying Oak City.

Wow!! What an awesome experience!! I wish I wouldnt have delayed it so much. Two different people recommend Oak City and I called immediately. I spoke with an awesome guy who was pleasant and to the point. I came by right away and he helped me immediately with my two bikes- My two Schwinn bikes I bought from Walmart. Meanwhile the womens winner of the Iron Man half and her husband finisher dropped in while other serious cyclists were filtering in and out. You wouldnt know the difference between the Walmart bikers and the Iron Man Finishers by the way the professionals treated us at Oak City Cycling. Just save yourself some time and come here.... Do yourself a bigger favor and just buy your bikes there. Thanks again!!!

Went there skeptical of all the high scores-was blown away by service and attention to detail. I tried a couple of bikes. The owner could have easily unsold me as I had and still have minimal clue on differences. He took into consideration my riding location and let me try a number of bikes (of varying styles). I am impressed he did not upsell me when I demonstrated an interest in the cheaper option. My bike has an oak city sticker on the frame-I am happy to support this place. Good people. They also have two tapes and the option of renting a bike stand to learn/fix your own bike. Parking is bad but this place is worth the parking situation considering how great the service was.

Love love love Oak City Cycling Project. The guys that run this shop are awesome - totally knowledgeable, and totally approachable. There are a lot of bike shops that can seem super intimidating with their butt-padded shorts and $1K+ bikes. You can get some of those things @ Oak City, but you can also get things in the casual biker range that still look and run super sweet. They are also super involved in the Raleigh community and in the area neighborhood - hallmarks of a business that really make you feel good to shop in! Theyll teach you how to repair your own bike, repair your bike for you, and take you on awesome rides and camping trips. Im proud to rep Oak City.

Came here on the recommendation of some random cyclist I met at a friends party. I went in to get service done on my old bike, not really knowing what needed to be repaired or replaced. The guys here were super friendly, honest, and walked me through everything that needed to be done. They even showed me what different options I had, and when I should expect to come in again for service. My experience with local bike shops in the past have been intimidating to say the least. That was certainly not the case with the guys at Oak City. When I decide to upgrade to a more serious bike, I will definitely be coming here first. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I stopped in as I was visiting friends in the Raleigh area and I am very glad I did. My (almost) 3 year old son was with me and the staff was cool enough to let him cruise around on a little balance bike while I looked around. I wasnt expecting to make anything but perhaps a small purchase, maybe some used parts or the like. Then I saw an old Bridgestone MB in great condition with some nice components and, well, I began to practice my explanation to my lady...."Its a Bridgestone...its Fathers Day weekend...I love you!" The staff is great, the shop is great. If you are a bike nerd or a noob, this is what a bike shop is supposed to be.
