Customer service is hard to come by in Cville without paying a premium. I have gotten excellent service at Performance of Charlottesville, and I have gotten mediocre service. It depends on with whom you deal. Rather than dwelling on the negative, let me recommend Matt the manager. He worked hard over several months to get me a great deal on the best bike I could afford. Between coupons, specials and the Performance rewards program, I saved around $800 vs. what I would have paid for a comparable bike at Cville Bike & Tri. Since the sale, Matt has gone out of his way to ensure that I am still happy with that bike. For example: After riding the bike for several weeks, he has replaced the stem with a longer one free of charge. I know this was specifically because of Matt and that another associate might not have gotten me the same deal.

We wont be coming back here for a while because the service has been terrible the last few times weve gone. A sales associate was midway through helping me find handlebar endplugs when another customer rolled in asking for some tune-up services on his bike. Rather than take the two minutes to either finish helping me or find another associate who would do so, he starts tinkering with this yuppys bike without even acknowledging that Im still standing there, waiting for him to finish with what he started with me. After waiting fifteen minutes, we left and went to Bike Factory where they promptly serviced us and provided the needed parts.

This store offers great products highly skilled bike mechanics, and knowledgeable/personable sales staff. Performance bikes has helped me restore a vintage road bike, build a newer bike from the frame up and keep my mountain bike trail ready despite my recklessness. The staff has made my experience superior to my visits to LBSs. In fact as in tune as this group is with the local bike community it is hard to believe that they are not an LBS.

Visited bike factory across the street first- very unhappy with their customer service. Felt like I was burdening them with my presence. Im not a professional biker by any means so I rely on a bike shop to keep my familys bikes safe. Performance bicycle addressed my needs answered my questions and fixed my bike for free, bought some add-ons just because I was so thankful for their outstanding customer service. Highly recommended

Some salesmen are better than others, but if you get with someone you like, they will take great care of you. I bought a stellar road bike - the Performance house brand Scattante - and its actually nicer than a Fuji a friend paid more for. They will work hard to always get you the best possible price. IMHO - much better than C-ville B&T.

If you know what youre looking for - and youre looking for a great deal- than Performance is a great store. If youre looking for service, do yourself a favor and go to a locally owned bike shop. They will have much better customer service and the quality of work will far exceed that of Performance.

Good deals, nice people, good products. I like the Performance brand products they are as good or better than other name brands and dont cost and arm and a leg. There is always someone there who is very knowledgeable.

I did one of their standard "tune up" packages and in some ways the bike came back to me in worse shape than I left it, i.e., clicking in the back end. Been there a few times and not coming back.
