I will try to keep the emotion out of it, but a determining factor for how good a retail business is is highly dependent on how they respond when things go wrong.When everything is right, there is no problem. In my case, I cant complain about a products since they dont manufacture the products, they just sell them. My complaint is about their service when I had a problem and it is directly related to the extended service plan. I am generally wary of any extended service plan, since most of the time you can get the same "warranty" from the manufacturer, or if the thing does break somehow, unless it is very expensive, you are usually better off buying a new one anyway. My product is an Xbox360. The early versions were notoriously faulty and broke within the first year 90% of the time. So i did get the extended service since it was an in-store exchange program. I had already used it one before, and it was straight forward and easy. Gave them the broken one, I got a new one. Done! The second time around when that new one broke within 9 months, they pulled a fast one on me. They told me they changed the policy and no longer offer the in-store replacement. Instead, they send it to "wherever" for "RAPID EXCHANGE", and I will get a replacement in 5 days. This was 9 months after I bought what I thought was the same plan I had before. BUT NO! They send out for a refurbished unit and it does not take 5 days, but as of this writing it has been more than 15 days and I still have no Xbox. I complained to everyone I could, but they basically said, "Sorry, thats the policy". I say, thats BS. They sold me a bogus extended service, where I could have gotten service from XBOX under the manf. warranty and had my XBOX back in about 10 days. I already did this with another one I own and it was perfect... even better... it didnt cost me $40 extra! I call the store to speak with anyone that can improve the situation, and they just dont care. They used to be a better store and actually helped people. Now, because Circuit City is gone, they are the only big electronics store in town, so they could care less about customer service. So, I dont deal with them at all anymore. I will drive to another store 20 miles away, or buy online exclusively. Even eBay sellers provide better service than WorstBuy. At this store in Middletown, the staff are generally very young, apathetic, and try anything to avoid helping anyone, yet still get their paycheck. They hang around in groups and talk like they are at a party, and if you make eye contact, they turn away and pretend they are doing something else. They need to get some real retail veterans in there and fire the rest. Its a joke. AVOID AVOID AVOID

GEEK SQUAD I brought my laptop that was having problems to the geek squad in middletown- it ran perfectly just there was an odd green blob covering part of the screen. They told me that the computer was unrepairable. They returned the computer to me with a battery that holds absolutely no charge (and gave my good battery to somebody else). I paid 80$ to have my lap top to be sent out and come back in worse condition. Needless to say, a few weeks later the computer fixed its self. AUTO I decided that I wanted to buy an in-dash GPS and have it installed into my boyfriends car as a christmas gift. I bought it from chrutchfeild online, it was much cheaper and came with a free back-up camera. So when I brought it to the best buy in middletown they gave me the frame that goes around it. All I needed to do was make an appointment. I called everyday for 2 weeks. I ended up going to best buy in monroe. The two auto guys there are awesome. However the staff in middletown gave me the wrong color frame. They told me that the honda civic SI interior only came in 1 color- they were absolutely wrong. And there was nothing they were willing to do for me to fix it PHONE/SPRINT The associate who helped me to upgrade my phone did not care that I was on a time line. He carried on side conversations with other associates about what their plans were for the summer. He walked away from me to help another customer, and left me sitting at the desk for 15 minutes. He was rude, inconsiderate- and now- a month later I am hashing out with sprint why I have unexpected charges to my account. TV I brought in a portable dvd player, needing a wire to hook it up to watch the dvds through my TV rather than the little screen on the portable player. 2 times I was assured I had the correct wire. I brought the device there!!! And 2 separate times was given the wrong wire. The employees at best buy in middletown are rude, not friendly and incompetent. I have been hung up on and ignored. And I will never go back again and I suggest that you dont waste your time either

Ordered over $5,000+ of Samsung kitchen products. Had them installed on June 28th. The water line in the refrigerator was installed incorrectly. I was instructed to release 4 gallons of water to clear the filter. The only problem was the water barely trickled out and then stopped. Over the following week, I contacted the store multiple times. Essentially, I was given false promises that the technician would contact me to arrange a date and time to fix the problem. I was assured by Kenny (manager) that the technician would return on June 30th to fix the problem. I took the day off work and the technician never called me nor came to my house. I physically visited the Middletown Store on Sunday (July 2nd), and spoke with Kenny, who again, reassured me that the technician would come on July 6th. Again, I took the day off only to discover that the technician never came nor called me. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years at Best Buy. I have never been so disappointed by the lack of customer care and the indifference by management and staff. There is a total lack of miscommunication between management and staff and broken promises. Clearly management has no control over subordinate staff. I urge customers to take “assurances” and “promises” by Best Buy with a grain of salt. I will now pay for a plumber to fix the problem caused by the incompetence of the Geek Squad.

Last month I saw a Acer laptop in Walmart in Matamoras, Pennsylvania- the prce 498.00. It was not in stock so I went back three more times. I was reminded that the July 4th holdiay was a reason for the delay. My friend had to do som shopping in Middletown, New York so I went with her and had the same result wth the Walmart there...still out of stock. So we went to Best Buy. They have a computer available for customers. I saw that they had the computer in stock. I saw a young man wh was helping a customer, if ther was anyone available to help me. He called a young man who was up on a ladder arranging stock and the fellow came right down to help me. He introdced himself as Maurice. I was more than pleased with the price I believe it was 389.00 - Maurice was pleasant explaining the 6 months Geek help and virus protection that came with the laptop. I asked if they had any suitably price desktop and he showed me a E computer, very well priced which I purchased as well. Had Maurie not been so pleasant and helpful I would not have bought the desktop. I have painters in my computer room and do not know where the receipt is - but I will find it within a day or two and gve the date, price etc. t verify this review. I am sorry to read so many unfavorable reviews, but I was very happy with my visit to Best Buy in Middeton, NY and thank Maurice for being so pleasant and helpful.
