Just go to Aldi. tl;dr: prices suck, clientele is otherworldly, I imagine the staff has to put up with some real bs, even tho they arent unpleasant I wouldnt blame them if they were. if it wasnt for the fact that its literally never closed itd get a 2. everything here is $0.50 to $2.00 more than it should be. this is the wal mart of north central Philly in that the clientele closely resembles a circus. but I shop here when I need to so I guess Im part of the act. during the day you can expect to rip a few hairs from your head while you navigate through the obstacle course of a parking lot which includes, but is not limited to: dodging negligent pedestrians, guessing games of whether or not you can pull out of a spot without striking another vehicle or ped, and the grand finale of making your escape back onto broad street which is a four lane conveyor belt of death. much like frogger its a game of reaction time and luck except your car and life are on the line, which makes for a truly emersive experience. great fun for the entire family. the store itself stops nothing short of genuine sensory overload. when you pass the threshold of the exit only door, expect it to be so packed during the day that youll feel like youre driving on I95 during evening rush hour. the general mass-anxiety and frustration can be felt in the air. nothing compares to the relaxing ambient serenade of screaming/crying children paired with melodic under and overtones of broken English which can reach abrasive volumes that really allow you to appreciate it. If youre getting anything but basic necessities, you can kill plenty of time searching aisles questioning whether they actually have what youre looking for. This is due to groundbreaking complex algorithms used to organize products so counterintuitively that even the stock workers struggle to locate items. if you got a basket instead of a cart, prepare yourself for the involuntary endurance workout of waiting in line. depending on how much you bought, this can be a real calorie burner, targeting and toning your forearms, biceps and back. make sure you switch arms as they approach exhaustion to get a balanced workout. for the weak willed, feel free to place your basket on the ground while you wait, but just know, we ARE judging you. after dark, expect to have your mind boggled at the amount of parents meandering with their children at hours of the night that will make you question the time on your clock. come on down to fresh grocer, because gray hair cant come soon enough.

Pros: Great selection, especially of international food. The full-service meat and seafood departments are a real asset. Prices are generally very reasonable, and this is the place I go to for everything from Pop-Tarts to ground beef. Cons: Staff helpfulness/professionalism is variable. The people working the cash register dont seem to ever greet customers and they dont come off as friendly at all. The workers who slice meat in the deli dont seem to pay much attention to what youre saying when you order from them, and I find that my wife can do about a quarter of our bi-weekly shopping in the rest of the store while I wait for one or two items to be sliced. On the other hand, the people stocking the shelves and working the meat department are very helpful and friendly, so this seems to be hit-or-miss by department. As a separate note, though the produce department is well-stocked, the fresh fruit and vegetables dont seem to keep for very long when I take them home. I never have similar problems when I buy from any of the local farmers markets.

Man to hell with this place. I bought a can opener here (bad idea) and I didnt expect much but it broke after one use?! It pissed me off enough to come write a review here. They carry horrible quality items, very little organic and healthy options and almost everything in this supermarket is LOADED WITH GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS. The workers are scum of the earth, useless and SLOW. It is filthy, rarely stocked or organized properly and for me was just the worst experience ever. Suburban supermarkets are amazing compared to this giant bodega. Be careful about parking your car because if youre seen leaving the parking lot to go somewhere else you will be towed even if youre going to shop there too. If you have to, then shop in the plaza first then walk off and come back. Cousins is a little better but they still havent realized how many customers dont want poisonous questionable food products. Dont settle for this garbage, stand up!

I use to go get breakfast in the morning but I have stopped because everytime I want to order Corn beef hash the lady acts like she dont know how to cook it. She even told me one time it was going to take 20 minutes to cook in the oven which I dont understand because the last cook, cooked the corn beef hash on the stove with no problems. The female cook seem like she is not able to multi-task efficiently and always seem to put people first that she knows personally versus those who waited first. I like to order sushi, it is freshly made. I have a problem with the staff giving me attitude when I request to have another sample of spicy mayo. I even offer to pay extra because they give so little with the tempura shrimps.

Its horrid, I am praying that ShopRite takes over. The lunes are ridiculously long, most times the self pay registers are never working. The best thing about this market is the location, the guys at the seafood counter, the hoagies take forever but are totally worth it. My teenagers like their pizza & this market is open 24,7. Everybody in the neighborhood awards the breakfast is the truth. Mgmnt is usually professional however the customer service counter sucks snd leaves me with attitude often. If you come to this market be prepared to have patience and over pay, especially since this location caters to the students or the locals in the neighborhood whom cant or wont travel further.

Shantai Davis, tonights assigned front end cashier ( she was overseeing the self checkout section) have your gas city to start screaming and humiliating me by accusing us of not scanning all of our items and stealing one dollar yogurts… I have 30 of them in my cart. I shop at this place 2 to 3 times per month I huge grocery trips spending a minimum of 200 and sometimes upwards of $400 each time and tonight was the last time I have renters next-door until the corporate headquarters reprimands and disciplines her since the store manager hung up on me twice and says; "it is not our policy to reprimand there employees over customer disputes.)
