Bought a used Lexus IS 250 last thursday with 73k miles next day multiple lights come on dash and vehicle loses power. Took it back and they supposedly fixed the car and put us in a loaner until monday. At this point i want to get a different vehicle from them and get something w/less miles or get my trade-in back and unwind the deal call it good and still be happy. Dealer does not want to work out anything of that sort. Guess being active duty military means nothing to these people. So at this point im confused on why they do not want to trade out after 1 day of having this vehicle. My sales guy even said that the deal had already been funded and my trade-in was already paid off (which it was not). Come monday i pick car up and see about trading it in w/another dealer because i just dont trust it after this. So now i drive the car for 2 days in total in just one week and more lights come on again. Take vehicle up there very calmly and politely i dont not want this car and i am not so happy at all with my experience here can you please work with me. They sold car to me 5 days ago for 14,400 and want me to take 13000 for it and only reducing the price of their car by $1000 to $31,999. And they said thats all they can do No More! Mind you this car im looking into purchasing i found 3 alike with half the miles this one has for 28000. I feel they know what is wrong with the car and dont want it back because it will be more to fix. Doesnt make sense why a dealer like would be so unwilling to help a service member and his wife into a reliable vehicle they feel comfortable and safe to drive across the US if need be. Im not one to write reviews but i feel like this is very wrong! My uncle works for the Federal Trade Commission I told him about what happened to me so hopefully this wont happen to someone else.
I was initially asked to write a review so here it is.. FYI I wrote a letter to the GM (Ben) prior to writing this review to give him a chance to reply, however he had no reply so here is your review. I purchased a CPO IS 250 on May 27 (my third Lexus). My buying experience was very poor from the start. I was quoted a price and told it was the absolute lowest price "otherwise the dealership would lose money." My stepfather called later and said that he would be coming with me. He was quoted IN WRITING from Thomas a lower price. He said great we will be there Saturday to check it out. When I mentioned the lower price to the sales mgr Jon.. He said no he could not honor that for ME. When I confronted them with the quoted lower price in writing they gave to my stepfather they said sorry that was a mistake. Thomas later replied in writing that he had overlooked an open repair order. So, I myself have been in the car business for 10 years. Why would a CPO car be on the showroom avail for sale with an open RO? Later I was told there was no open RO as I suspected. So a blatant lie.. When my business makes a mistake we make it right, even if it costs us money. We also hold our representatives accountable to honesty and integrity. Apparently they dont operate under those standards at Lexus of Highland Park. And clearly they sadly still give men better deals than females. So ladies, dont do it. Dont go alone if you do decide to let them subject you to their disrespectful customer service. Btw- An offer in writing would hold up in the court of law. Its essentially contract law. But, I have more important things to pursue currently. However, felt it appropriate to share my experience. Regretfully, I purchased the car and never experienced an explanation nor apology. Not even from the GM. Speaks volumes, huh?
I loved the purchase that wife made this weekend at Lexus of Highland Park. The salespeople especially Karuna Talwar-Debe who sold us our LS460 made it such a great experience. We were looking for a certified pre-owned ES300 Hybrid or ES350 however there was another customer who purchased the car we were looking at that we liked Karuna showed us an LS460 we werent even thinking about. But due to my size, family requirements as my moms in a wheelchair and having a comfortable ride the LS was a better option and not too much more than we planned to spend on an ES. Karunas enthusiasm and her directness about our needs guided us to get the perfect certified car for us which looks brand new! She even gave a small box of Godiva chocolates to my wife and my mom when she handed us the keys after signing the paperwork. We are totally happy and are grateful for Karuna. Her enthusiasm for people and finding them the right car is the direct reason why we bought our car. Lexus of Highland Park also has Starbucks coffee, soda, bagels etc for customers and its a nice showroom and they treat their customers well. My precious Lexus I bought at McGrath in Westmont but because of Karuna I will be returning when I want to replace my RX350. Thanks Karuna and Lexus of Highland Park!
The car I bought was allright - although not a Lexus and not brand new, has run good so far and was delivered as supposed - clean as a whistle, with a full tank of gas, all the keys, documentation, manuals, etc. Be aware though - some people there (namely in the Finance Dept) - want to cross sell things to you. Case in question, the Premier Tire Protection. It is a nice protection, IF you are sure you will keep your car for the duration of the contract. I was sold a 5-year contract, but I only plan to keep the car for 2 years. When I read the fine print, found out you cannot transfer the protection to another car; cannot be refunded for unused portion; and... the best: I found it out before the 30-day money back guarantee. Which they honered: gave me back the $750 I paid for the 5 years in cash - so I end up paying for the $750 WITH INTEREST because it got added up to the total amount of my cars purchase value... I was VERY dissatisfied with this deal but they said could do nothing about it. So buyers BEWARE.

I normally dont leave reviews for places I go because people are always quick to review the negative more than the positive but I just have to place such a great review on this dealer because I have never been to a place where I felt like a million bucks. I brought in my Lexus here for the first time for an oil change and I am glad I did. I was easily able to make an appointment online. As soon as I came in I was serviced right away. The gentlemen who took my keys and information were so helpful. The waiting area was so pleasant. They had comfortable seating, TV, a good area for children, free beverages and snacks, Free WIFI and stations where you can plug in and use your laptop. The service was great and the staff was so helpful and friendly. The best news is that I thought the oil change was going to be costly since it was at the dealer and it wasnt too much more than a regular oil change at a Jiffy Lube and I wasnt being pressured into adding more services. Definitely would recommend them.
