On 3 separate occasions I have dealt with Carmax. I sold a truck to them & felt I got a fair price (not great but fair) for my Honda Ridgeline. Several months later we went back to CarMax & bought a VW Jetta which we were happy with. In May of 2017 we went back to Carmax due to our previous experience & it was NOT the same good experience. I was interested in a Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner V6. Unfortunately they did not have any on the lot within my budget but did have one in LA. The sales associate I dealt with told me he could get the Tacoma V6 out of LA shipped but gave me the run around & told me they had a 2.7 liter 4 cylinder on the lot. I went down & test drove it & it drove ok. The brakes felt softer than the previous 2005 Tacoma Pre-Runner V6 I had owned & brought it up to the salesman. He told me it was most likely that the brakes would need to be changed in the near future & why they were soft. It made sense. I then specifically asked the salesman if there was any other differences between the 2.7 liter & the V6 was advised no. I proceeded purchasing the Tacoma & was told I would need to put $3,500 down due being upside down on my Jetta. I hesitantly agreed & while I was finalizing the paperwork there was a $2,700 charge on the contract for an extended warranty. I advised the finance officer that I did not agree to that purchase & the salesman came back over & said "you need it". I let him know that I didnt & requested for it to be removed. (This was why I was charged a heavier down payment) The salesman snatched (literally) the paperwork from in front of me & said it would be removed. I inquired about GAP insurance at the same time but was told that the vehicle I purchased does not qualify for GAP. I should have took these two things as a huge omen to just walk away but the Tacoma was very nice. I had every intention to changing the wheels & putting a leveling kit on the truck so I could increase the tire size. As I browsed for a leveling kit for this particular Tacoma but found out that the 2.7 liter Tacoma has more differences than just the engine size than the V6. The braking system & suspension are completely different for starters. If I would have been told this up front I would have waited for the Pre-Runner V6. I feel the salesman was deceitful & sold the truck knowing their were more differences than just the motor size to make a sale. I have sent emails to whoever will listen to me at the CarMax corporate office & will check with an attorney to see if I was sold something under false pretenses. If this is the way I am going to be treated I will never purchase another vehicle through CarMax ever again!!

Lying ducking rude @s pieces of shirt. (you like that google?) Worst Ducking car company ever. They are suppose to be the "Best" used car place. Im not expecting much. Its used. However when I ask about the history and for the car fax and they not only give me a DIFFERENT cars Car Fax but also LIED about it ever being in a wreck. They can go duck themselves. Allow me to reiterate. DO NOT BOTHER BUYING FROM THESE PEOPLE. You WILL get burnt. Not only did they sell me a car that had been totaled. They sold me a car that had the frame repaired. Something they "Just dont do." Ive NEVER gotten in a wreck with my car. My Insurance and lack of police record proves that. Yet I took it in for its 112k check up and I get told a long list of problems that the cars had. Welded and bondoed frame. Mix matched paint. 90% of the car has been changed and worked on. All but two panels on the car are original. Who ever had this car before me shredded it. I was told this was a "Corporate car" that had 0 smokers. Yet upon inspection the lining of the car has smoke stains. At the time it seemed like a good deal. I needed a car for work and they were willing to finance me. For the price of the car they sold me and the huge @ss interest I got stuck with a 50K mile car will cost me 19k. I could have gotten a NEW mustang with the kind of down payment they requested. I didnt know better at the time. But for the quality of service I havent got. The fact I had to fight tooth and nail for them to make good on the extended warranty. I will never buy from these people again. I will NEVER tell anyone to buy from these people. If you want a car Look for private buyers. Go anywhere else. Save your money. Please I beg you. Slime of the industry works here. Im stuck with a "used" car that has more damage on it then is LEGAL. I should have taken it to a shop for a check up the instant I got the damn thing. OH and I should mention that also pay a response company to write good reviews for them. How do I know? I worked at the company here in Idaho that was contracted out. Yea. No thank you.

I have gotten my cars from carmax for the last few years. This was the first time I went to the Sahara location, and the last time. I waited for over 3 weeks to get my car transferred to my location. I went back and fourth via text message with one of the salesman there and finally made an appointment with him to come in at 2pm. He then texted me and told me to "Take my time" and I could get there between 3 or 3:30. When I then explained I made the 2pm for a reason and could only do 2pm he said that he was busy with other customers. I couldnt understand how I was last priority when I had been waiting over 3 weeks. I went in and spoke with the first man I saw, he knew absolutely NOTHING about the car! He obviously was pushing me to go through Carmax finance when I knew my back would be a better fit. I saw the man I was working with before and he completely looked my way and ignored me. Finally, I asked if he could get a wash and detail for the car and he said "We dont do that here. " "We are focused more on the quantity of cars". I was paid no attention to and I purchased a very expensive vehicle to not be given the time of day too... lastly, when I dropped my car to get the brakes fixed, I dropped my car off at 11am and never got a call saying when it would be finished. I called and called and kept getting placed on hold. I was hung up on after 20 minutes and completely lost on when I would receive my car. That is poor communication considering people have work and other priorities. I will say Joe and Raquel did help me out with the brakes that needed to be changed within the 30 days of purchase. So I appreciated that, But I will NOT be going back to this location in the future.

There were two separate employees trying to work multiple deals instead of taking care of 1 customer each. They were importing cars under other employees names to cut them in on the profit. My salesperson ordered a car from the henderson store while holding my trade in key so I was stuck there for 6 hours so the "opposition store would not get the sale" Meanwhile he told me he had "class" to attend. 10 minutes later he was showing 2 females around the lot. After the car came in my sales rep and I inspected it and found enough damage to need a manager. The manager agreed, up channeled it to his manager. He then came and looked at the horrible re paint of the car and agreed it is poorly done and the guy who paints their cars need to step their game up. " Ill clay bar it/buff it, if it closes the deal other wise I cant do anything else." It had visible burns in the paint from a high speed buffer who couldnt even save the paint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then stopped before he ruined the rest of the car... Still trying to sell it to me. THIS IS WHEN I found a bunch of rubber sprayed all over the underside of the wheel wells as a sound dampener to stop squeak/rattles....... not stock. cover up. Both managers WERE OK with selling a less than good car to a family who knows no better claiming its like new. It will take one wash after its sold to reveal a peeling clear coat and botched paint. Last I checked carmax was supposed to care? I have bought before, but never again from carmax. I have have walked from 3 different car max cars now, all because of crappy cover ups. Please do your homework Car max will not finance lower than 4.9. Those of you with good credit go elsewhere.
